Snagged another Rebel battlepack for extra alien and commando parts.

Local store has 6x12 green plates that I stocked up on. They're great for mini scenes.

Yes, the head and helmet appear to be one piece.

As far as I know the clocks do not have removable parts. For example, the Boba Fett clock is wearing a helmet, but the helmet and head are one piece - there's no head underneath the helmet or anything.

I think the outlandish IPs are just a grab to get more IPs in the game and thus convince the bigger players they need to be involved. If we get to a point where Disney is the only ones not playing, that will then convince them to step in and there's huge money if Disney is involved.

The figure might be cool, but the ships aren't really doing it for me. Considering how long the Star Trek IP has been floating around, it feels like it's all been done before in some form or another. Playmates, Diamond Select, Hasbro (Kreo), and now Mega Blocks. Plus, QmX. I feel Like it would be too much to ask for one company to just keep the material long enough to produce a great line. DS came close, though. Still wishing Hasbro would have released that last Kreo wave with Worf in the US...

My concern is that if it tanks, it may prevent any other company from going near the Ghostbusters IP. We've seen it before where one bad movie kills a franchise that is otherwise really good. I'm hoping it's good for its merits, but I'm also hoping it's good so it doesn't kill Ghostbusters.

Megablocks (sorry) Star Trek The Original Series!
HawkLord replied to Columbus019's topic in Community
Admittedly though, the Star Trek license has been handed off a number of times so it doesn't feel like a big deal. Playmates had it, then Diamond Select (which still seems to have it for action figures), then Hasbro Kreo, and now MegaBlocks. Companies get the Star Trek license and then they don't quite know how to capitalize on it.- 68 replies

21306: The Beatles Yellow Submarine (LEGO Ideas)
HawkLord replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm honestly surprised. I had always thought that the Beatles may have been alittle too controversial for Lego, but I'm glad I was wrong. Here's hoping this sets the stage for similar decisions. -
Gollum and the ring really felt like more of a set-up scene for Sonic. Not really sure it indicates anything more than just the previous Gollum pack.

Admittedly, I've always just been in it for the minifigures. It's more a replacement for action figure collecting for me. I've kept some of the builds, but some also end up in the parts bins. -
Yes, this is being talked about in other threads, as well. With Disney dropping Infinity and all the other IPs jumping on board with Dimensions, it would be foolish for Disney not to allow their IPs to compete in that arena. This also creates a great work around to all the action figure contracts that have restricted Lego from releasing minifigures in he past.

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
HawkLord replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
As I mentioned in the other Dimensions thread, this is a great time to be a minifigure collector. As an action figure and vinyl figure collector myself, I've seen a couple of these IPs appear elsewhere, but to get them in Lego form is perfect. This bodes well for Star Wars and Marvel to come out. -
This to me solidifies that Star Wars and Marvel are not too far behind. You can't have a huge revolution of minifigure collecting like this and not throw your hat into the ring. It seems every IP that's important will want to have a spot in this collection. Lego has found a way to beat out the action figure contracts that have limited them in the past - make the minifigures part of a toys-to-life game. Brilliant.
-
I feel like in a way this is the start of a new licensed collectible minifigures line. All these licenses that probably couldn't support full sets are being release in an easier, more manageable format with a better profit margin. It reminds me a bit like Funko Pops. The individual licenses would be too complicated to release as full action figure lines, but as vinyl figures with cartoonish looks, it's easier to produce. Lego might be tapping into a similar model, but through a video game platform - which could help them avoid stepping on other license holder's toes (such as Hasbro). Either way, it's an exciting time to be a Lego and minifigure collector.

I army build via sets. For Star Wars this is easier because of battlepacks, but I also bought multiple of the LOTR Uruk-Hai Army and the Hobbit Mirkwood Elf Army to get multiple minifigures. I use the bricks in the sets anyway, so it doesn't negate buying the whole set when needed.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

Ok, good to know. Thank you for passing that info along. -
I'm betting that like Infinity, starter pack minifigures will appear in other packs later.

Would you be able to say what local shop? An independent store or retail chain? US or another country? This is a first world problem! :P -

Very unique looking set and completely different approach on the diorama scene by using flight stands to show minifigures in action poses. I definitely don't hate it, it's very cool in its own weird way. A weird Lego set for a weird movie! I think the set could also look pretty good with the monster thing removed. -

I would guess the Sandcrawler will still be out by that time, but I can't be 100% certain given all the new Star Wars material (RO) and the upcoming Death Star 2.0. It is next in line of UCS to go, though. -

What would you use as a minifigure wargame base?

I might post them once I'm finished, but they use a system and idea I've not seen used before. -

HawkLord replied to the fixer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm actually working on designing a Lego minifigure wargame right now, where I use 4x4 plate disks (don't know the technical term). That seems to seat a minifigure and some gear pretty well without the gear getting entangled when bases touch. Since minifigures are larger than the common 28mm scale of most minis games, the larger base footprint is a better alternative than trying match something like Warhammer/40K bases. -
I would get at least one. I have two and they're really good. Very unique helmet mold for the airborne trooper, which is really cool. When I look at Brickset, I've found that 2013 was my biggest year for SW purchases in terms of sets. So much good material.
