  1. I agree 9001% with WARHEAD. Jaw Beast is probably the most fun of all the Beasts to mess around with and build slight variations of, and you get 4 tr. light blue bones, several purple spikes and one of the most plain head prints of the year, right after Crystal Beast. Plus, you get three of the new claws, which, if you're not going to get another HF set this year, you'll need to get at least one of, as they're highly useful for pretty much all organic or even slightly bestial MOCs.
  2. Is it strange that I like the look of the second MOC? Also, I've never noticed how huge Kronos is before. Anyway, I've got to agree with you on some of this. Keeping purely HF bone-based structures from folding in on themselves is very hard work, necessitating lots of support structures, and I wish we would get a piece that would help negate that, as even friction adders don't help much. Variations on the basic shells would be nice, but hard to do, as they are already as flattened as they can be. Perhaps some sort of add-on that allows you to add on even more pieces on top of it would help. However, there's a problem with the basic add-ons: a lot of the time, the texture pieces feel disconnected from the MOC itself. Some work will be needed to figure out how to negate that and create pieces that have a more continuous, flowing look to them. Agreed, but to do this, you'd have to make shells that can be "folded", like one of those new container pieces locks into itself. This would, for the larger shells, such as the torso ones, reduce posing and make them harder to use for more complex MOCs. If used only for some of the smaller shells, this could work well though.
  3. Mostly, I feel that the thing that killed Bionicle was exactly what made it interesting: there was always some old story that you hadn't didn't remember fully but would like to read again, always some interesting story that you felt you were making an effort to find. Because of that contradiction, it would be hard to bring Bionicle back properly. A lot of the time, when rereading, I find out that the story itself was kind of mediocre, but just written well. It's the method of delivery of the story that made Bionicle as interesting as it was, and I highly doubt that LEGO could recapture that. So no, I wouldn't want it to return.
  4. Not too good a MOC, I'm sorry to say. The simple skeletal structure, while not a bad thing in itself, means that several parts of it look out of proportion. The long legs make the wings look too small, as do the massive hands.
  5. The reason I like the new guns? It's that, as a comment on an early picture of the part pointed out, using a white-and-grey version with an orange or blue stud looks like a portal gun. Plus, it's an oversized comical Sci-Fi gun. We've needed a generic one for years.
  6. So, having gotten all of the mechs, with the exception of the XL Machine, I can say that they seem...sub-par. They are all great parts packs, with Evo's Walker (which I've rebuilt into a two-legged mech thing with a robot arm) being a pleasant surprise. The Jumpers, while kind of cute, are really hard to use, but are pretty reliable when it comes to landing on their feet, if they jump far enough. Also, 3rdeye's comment makes me want to build a facehugger beast, with a bunch of tentacles enclosing a minifig's face and the rest of the body being huge compared to the fig.
  7. The brown feet contrast it a bit too much, making even the plain black ones a better choice. The wings aren't wing-like enough either, but they're more bird-like than most, as people tend to forget that there are dozens of feathers overlapping rather than just a few sticking out.
  8. Originally, I just used generic Inika builds and rather clashing yet more complex rainbow MOCs. Then, right after 2.0 was released, I tried to mess around with every color combination I could think of, and later I made some modified versions of Rocka XL. Then, starting with this weird giraffe-elephant hybrid monster, I learned how to build using only the arm bones, with the torso bones being used only for stability, in a way that resembles those rainbow MOCs to a surprising degree.
  9. What would it's weak point be ?
  10. Actually, there already is a topic for this, which was posted a while back. Could someone please merge these two?
  11. While the Firestar's head seems a little small, that makes quite a bit of sense; why make the place where your pilots sit easier to strike anyway? The Skewerclaw's four eyes are a nice touch, really fitting it into place as a Pacific Rim MOC. The rest of the head, along with the still undecipherable back build also looks very creative, but I'd suggest adding some sort of spike or other detail to the end of the tail.
  12. All you need to do is get Splitter Beast, Tunneler Beast and either Flyer or Jaw Beast and you'll have two. Although making that into a squid's beak sounds like it could work out well.
  13. Tentacle Beast? Saw Beast? I'm just stealing ideas from my signature here. Explosion Beast? Nah. Which of the following ideas seems best to you guys? Tentacle Beast Saw Beast Explosion Beast Fire Beast Runner Beast
  14. Nice, although some non-edited photos would be appreciated. Skewerclaw is especially hard to judge as a MOC.
  15. It's not so much an electric puppy as much as an electric velociraptor monster that can generate "d'awww"-s.
  16. It fits with the Mixel theme quite well, apart from the head, which is probably just a matter of posing. The shield is a stroke of silly genius, though.
  17. Oh boy, Bfahome has definitely won this one. Glad to see I won't have to have an argument any more. I always expect that I'm going to overreact and get banned myself. Back on topic, does anyone have any more Beast ideas? So far, the only one I have been capable of coming up with are "Claw Beast" (aka Deinocheirus Mirificus) and "Tail Beast" (a Jaw Beast mod).
  18. While I doubt it will do anywhere near as well as the LEGO Movie has done and will do for the next few weeks, Ninjago has a ridiculously large following. I wonder how many calls LEGO got about Bionicle being discontinued. If we can get those numbers and compare, we have an easy way to estimate the severity of it's following. That being said, Ninjago could be a big hit. It's TV series was a big hit, it has several years worth of pre-written story that it can mesh about to get the best parts of all of them (most of the series' episodes were just filler) and it's team is pretty impressive. To give you an idea of what the stuff I've come across about Ninjago is like, think MLP with it's audience being the opposite gender: young boys and adult fangirls. So let's set MLP's success x.02 as a modest estimate for now. Pretty impressive, huh?
  19. Being honest about insulting people for no reason is not any better than being dishonest and "sugar coating it". Seriously, you're getting to the point where moderators should be called in. Incidentally, the Transformers fandom is rather...ridiculous, to say the least. I can get you a pretty darn good explanation if you want. Also, we handled the whole ripoff=/=homage thing a while back. Look a couple pages back on the forum if you want, but let's not restart topics that have been discussed to the most minute of details. I even ended up using the "Rhedosaurus Clause", which should tell you how unfounded this comparison is.
  20. The piece used as shoulder armor on Cragger is used on the Queen Beast's back.
  21. Look, let's just stop this off-topic arguing before it descends into mutual Fan Dumb. We disagree, and arguing will just polarize our opinions.
  22. It was just a joke, but I have to say that I agree with you Penkid, "After The Blackout" is pretty good. Not as good as the older ones, but still quite nice, especially the dulled "ninja, ninja" at about 2:50 through 3:10.
  23. As long as you stop insulting people, it's fine what you think about it. Just as long as it doesn't turn the HF fanbase into the transformers one. Really, we all know IfB isn't the best, but as far as toy line stories go, it's pretty good. No actual plot holes, just a bit of dubious decisionmaking, which is more than can be said for some high-budget stories. And Pacific Rim...well, watching it gives me the feeling it was half intended as a parody of it's genres.
  24. While I don't like Pacific Rim much, it knows it is just the next in a long line of a slightly mildly very extremely cliched genre. It knows that and it runs with it. And anyway, HF's episode was slightly worse, but that can probably be blamed fairly on a lack of budget (you need at least three minutes per set to present each one properly, which you can't do in only one episode). By the way, early HF wasn't too self-aware either. I noticed at least 18, if not 19 counts of police brutality in "Trials of Furno" alone [insert silly meme of your choice here].
  25. Considering the nature of the details (mostly gears and similar), what the Bionicle parts often implied was that the characters were (in-story) unfinished, without time put in to cover things up, which makes sense giving the reason the Toa, Matoran, Mata Nui, etc. were built, i.e. as a last ditch attempt. More to the point, it's kind of rude to insult someone, 3rdeye. Anyway, the new building system allows for getting the same complexity much quicker, and without the need for extraneous detailing (which, in my case, caused a Kardas MOD to fall and make a several-inch dent in the wooden floor. You can see why I prefer the newer system). Mostly, I think the nature of the modern parts is very functional; the details are things you only have to add later, making each part exponentially more useful. On top of this, the cost for the molds is probably increased if you add more details to a single part, so relying on simpler parts drives the parts count up. By making details optional, HF gives you more and more useful parts for the same price.
