That's...strange. Hopefully, the Airjitzu function will be integrated in a way that doesn't detract from the aesthetics, but I don't have much hope.
-
Okay, now that's just disturbing. Excellent use of the Dinosaurs-style head piece, and the orange is really the perfect color for the eyes. Perhaps you could cover up the blue pieces by adding on extra's of those T-shaped technic pieces on top of those that are already there?

Why the hate for tr. red? It's as dark as it needs to be. If you want it to look brighter (and why would you?), put non-translucent red behind it. I can honestly not think of any MOCcing occasion where a lighter shade of tr. red would have been useful. Does that happen often to you?

Yeah, but that's still not the same as plain tr. red shells. And anyway, tr. red's darker look is precisely what makes it look more sinister.

I kind of have to get a Facebook account soon, so I might as well take three dozen pictures and post them over the six weeks.

Or from any point of view, for that matter.

Blurry is definitely not what I'd call them. If anything, the lines surrounding them are thicker and more distinct.

The best mask-like face I've ever seen was on a road trip to Italy. One of the rock formations on the side of the road looked exactly like the 2001 "skull"/MU's head.

Some of the shoulder armor placements (especially the armor attached to Onua's arms) looks a little awkward and bulbous. The removal of some of the tertiary colors, such as the gold on Onua or the yellow on Gali, also makes the Toa look very bleak and pale.

Wow. The use of the Ben 10 spikes is a definite NPU. The tr. apple green shells do seem like a little too much for the color scheme, and if possible, I would replace them with the solid green (is it called Earth Green?) used elsewhere on the MOC.

They don't seem much simpler to me. And anyway, making something simpler and more stylized can often look better when it comes to symbols. I like them more than their kimono versions, at any rate.
-
It doesn't need it. I just want the challenge of improving it.
-
Or you could draw some random lines in the dirt and say it's Onua's mask. Too bad that none of the masks have specific names. It makes it really hard to refer to one of them specifically.

What was the worst construction set?
DraikNova replied to Bigger Fish's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Tarix was a pretty good set in my opinion. He's the only one of the post 2006 toa-sized sets (bar Lewa Phantoka) that I've actually liked. -
Yup. That's it.

I built Enter the Serpent last Friday. It's really an awesome set. Everything about it is just so good. You really can't see the appeal of most of it until the moment it's done, but then it's absolutely and utterly perfect. If you have to get only one set from the winter wave, get Enter the Serpent. Speaking of which, I've been sorting through my old parts for tan to upgrade the temple a bit, and I've realized that I don't have any ideas for a theme or building style to use in the upgraded version. Any ideas? I thought a bat motif might work, but it seems a little difficult to implement.

Great. A contest I have no way to enter in (no camera on my phone, a really fragile camera, and the only mask-like pattern in my house is difficult to see even if outlined). Oh well, might as well see if I can find something anyway; complaining about it won't get me anywhere.

I only have Onua and PoS plus two hero packs. Why would I need more when I can just order what I want?

Yeah, that's definitely Nya. You can even see her eyebrows.

Nice. While I'm not a fan of Iron Man, I can definitely see that your version looks much better than the official one.

Seeing as I have Toa Mata Nui, I have to agree with you. You have described Toa Mata Nui perfectly. Ditto regarding the Skull villains. -
Bricks and Pieces might allow you to get a couple of flies in amber for maybe 3-5 dollars, if it isn't covered in that strangely enforced "no licensed parts" thing. I do wish they'd have a few rarely seen dinosaurs in the sets as well, but I guess that's more the fault of the team behind the Jurrasic World movie than LEGO's designers.

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Set Ideas Thread
DraikNova replied to Tom Jurassic's topic in LEGO Licensed
An army builder should have only a small amount of extra things in it, besides the army. A full-blown jeep would kind of stray too far from the point. I do like the idea of including raptor eggs, though. I'd just make it four raptors, a small nest, plus maybe one ACU fig to act as a helpless victim. -
What was the worst construction set?

The 1.0 heroes were about a million times better than any of the Agori, Av-Matoran (or the Mistika Toa and Makuta) or Stars. At least the 1.0 heroes looked okay, even with their simple builds. Those I've mentioned have simple builds yet look horrible. Plus, the parts were the most brittle that they've ever been around that time. Meanwhile, I've not seen a single joint on a HF 1.0 set cracking.
