Tire Changer for Lego
Thirdwigg replied to weavil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That would be cool. The hardest part will be the wedge piece between the tire and the rim on the mounting arm. You could get mLA to work for the bead breaker, since the bead on a LEGO tire is not to hard. -
Cool idea. It makes me wonder what other Trial Truck comparisons could be done. We could in affect create an international truck trial competition. I'm interested.

That might be one of the better B models we have seen for a while. The hood is a little clunky, but those lights made me smile. I can see a MOD coming for this, much like the 8081 4x4. I might be interested in this set after all.

For me it's price and part content. I dug deep to purchase 8110 because there were come great new parts, pneumatic, and those wheels. I cannot justify (for instance) $220 for 42009 to get a couple great new parts and also 214 3 Pins and 62 Axle 3. Granted, there are a lot of other parts in flagships that are valuable, but I'll get those on Bricklink. I don't get enough satisfaction from building the Flagship once to justify the cost, and I no longer have the need for volume of supplemental parts.

Your teasers drive me crazy. You're going to make me (us) wait just like you did with the Lower 40. Ugh. -

Thanks for the reviews. I for one love the variety of the models. And the colors. So many fun colors this time. -
Feller Buncher WIP
Thirdwigg replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool. There are a lot of problems I encountered while building my Feller. I hope this project continues. -
All, thanks so much for your help. Can you give any suggesting for light bulbs that you are using in your lights? Most of the suggestions given I should be able to implement. I'll try some of the suggestions tomorrow when I have to do another shoot. Most of my work will be on MAC, so I'll have to fool around with the post production for a little bit.

Friends, over the past couple of months I have been working to improve the photography of my models. Particularly, I hope to develop a consistent and excellent setup that can be used indoors to photograph my MOC at anytime of the day (or night). I am interested in any suggestions others use for their current photography needs. I suspect my needs at this time revolve around lighting. My current setup uses: Canon Rebel XT DSLR Camera A large posterboard Two midsize photography lamps (120V, 240W, 6400 lumen bulbs) Here is a shot with the current setup: Here is the lighting (and whiteness) I hope to achieve, albeit in an indoor setting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks. I like the flat look also. It may be part of the reason so many of my trucks look the same. The CV joints have had no problems. They have not come out. There is no room for them to move as they connect right next to the UJoint.Yeah, I like the T55 a lot too. -

Quickly finished another trial truck. Finding a good independent suspension idea is more difficult than it should be. Happy Building. -
[WIP] Rally car
Thirdwigg replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So many techniques used here that I love to use myself. The longitudinal differential with clutch and the CV joints as wheel mounts work so well. Glad to see you added the buggy motor. That rear set up is a space utilization work of art. -

Thanks, the stickers are from set 60025. The wheels from 42008 were a little too small for my liking, and didn't work too well with the suspension. Thanks. It was a fun little project.
