Hi! I saw your video on YT this afternoon. I felt concerned as I am fighting with my own tractor project. I am impressed by the high level of detail and the apparent facilities you have to build such beautiful model (I now that all things that appeared to be easy and simple are the hardest one to design) And I must admit - your model appear to be so easy, fluent and fluid design... - Some question: no pendular front axle? - Is the main frame mostly studfull or studless? hard to say with the elements you present here - Any traction issue due to non ackerman steering? I struggle with that... - Where did you hide the sbrick? not under the hood as I understand it, so where is it located? A cut out view of the inner design would be appreciate ;) Steph.

Honestly no. I do not see any excessive weight on the right side.as I do not have suspensions (pendular front axle) and thanks to a rigid chassis I definitively have no problem with weight. -

So, thanks for the links to these beautiful tires. After looking at my model closely and made comparaison with real life picture I found out a big problem of proportion. I first managed to implement an ackerman steering design for the front axle. The traction problem is now solved. the tractor can now embed front and rear tires from the Claas set. Secondly I push the front axle by two studs to the front giving a longer wheelbase to the model. Third I redesign the whole front end in order to lower the front trunk by two studs. here is the result: This had for consequence that the tractor looks like smaller than previously, It is now in a middle weight category and it is ok for me In my previous post I told you about the inner design and optimization. Here are some pictures to show you that: As you can see there is not that much place in this chassis and it is due to the wheel size It is still more visible on the back side view. The chassis has a cross shape and it was difficult to find a way to place each and every electrical/mechanical component inside To solve this the only way was to stack function one up the others and it results a disproportion in shape that I tend to solve now (sorry for the blury picture below) What do you think about this mods? Here is the actual state of the WIP: I rebuild the trailer and managed to get all the wanted functions. I spend lots of time on this build and then to critisize it and found some things that could be better: For the tractor itself : it need ackerman steering absolutely. The medium motor struggle when wheels are turned especially in reverse speed. Have someone any idea on how to build this ackerman geometry in a setup where the steering rack is located in the front of the axle ? For the trailor it is the cran's rotation who is impacted. Too desequilibrate and to much weight on the front of the turntable. Even if the crane rotate quiet well, it is not perfect at this time. I also past a long time in cleening the inner chassis design of the tractor. The WIP becomes quiet final. I'll be back with good quality and detailed pictures in a later post. EDIT I forgot that: i have managed to get a full direction amplitude on this tractor: It needs to compact more and more the front end in order to get enough space for the wheels rotation. The front axle is pendular. The wheels rotate and tilt without any contact with the chassis. This point is one of the major issue solved this WE. Steph -

Thanks! The string is just for detail. As the tractor is designed to be also a stand alone model, it could be equiped with other attachements. Maybe this one ;) https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-8830/MajklSpajkl/tractor-dump-trailer-for-claas-xerion-5000-trac-vc-42054-set/#comments -

Thanks! @Thirdwigg: here is the battery pack. I used it as dummy fuel tank: This allow me to place the four pf motors deep Inside the chassis and keep an overal design clear @Lipko you are right for the cab dimension. On the upper pictures and below i move the rear windsreen back by one stud. I find it looks better now. And here is a closer view of the 3 point Hitch. I am happy because i managed to keep this area quiet clear of any bulky mechanism: @agrof I have covered the inner IR receiver with orange plates so the hole looks a little bit more filled. The main problem is the geometry of the Hood. But this geometry gives a strong Identity at the model: Steph. -

The truck above is not dead, but i borrow a bit on it so here is my new WIP: Full IR controled - 9 functions, 8 motors. The tractor is nearly done, i am working on the details now. It features: -Driving by M motor (with strong reduction) achieved -Direction by PF servo achieved -One L motor controling two functions (1 gearbox 2 ways installed) for lifting the 3 point rear Hitch and PTO1 achieved -One M motor controling the second PTO achieved The whole model is design around the tool (initialy used on the truck above). The tool as taken shape of a trailer with articulated crane. The functions of the trailer (that is on WIP) are: - 2x2 outriggers controled via the PTO2 of the tractor not not achieved - Crane rotation controled by PTO1 of the tractor not achieved 100% Then comes the functions controled by two IR receiver onboard of the trailer: - Main lifting achieved - Second articulation achieved - Extending second articulation achieved - Opening/close the bucket. achieved Some more pictures: The gearbox command to switch between 3 point Hitch and PTO is on the top of the ladder PF is not dead Steph -

Hi Nico, I was wondering what was the 4st function of the D model? I understand you have: - main boom lifting -Main boom tilting -adjustable width of the fork ( i suppose it is only possible when the fork is down and tilting at max so you have contact between the gear of the fork and the ones on the chassis) -and ??? -
True. Looking from the final Customer POV, you can expect both of these two aspects. A great build and great fun to play with. It's a matter of balance between one and the other aspect. (making bigger models with more parts is probably a way to solve the 'building pleasure aspect, just because the building process is longer) Looking from (some of us) POV, witch is most designer/engineer POV, it is clear that a build with finest mecha is better than simples motors put together with a LA. Our POV and expectations, our choices we have to make in our MOC, are IMHO way simplier than what TLG designers have to do. So just get what they gave us and have fun!

My rear axle will not be like the Arocs. Tandem Wheel in front, single Wheel at the rear. As i want to let a greater part than usual to manual stuff i was thinking to a multi use handle. A little bit like the key of the Chiron. This handle could be use for: - Lifting the rear axle - Tilt the cab, like real trucks, with a two step mechanism that will (hopefully) open the front grid first and then tilt the cab for a 2 in1 function. -

I thought about a generic truck, M.A.N. inspired, low cab. The suspention system is home made and very similar to arocs. The picture show a very preliminary stage of development. It need to be enhanced a lot. What about my setup problem? some idea? -

Hi all, Next project : one 4 axle truck. For this one i'll take @grum's time notation. Take 01 - Build time 3 hours Today i would like to submit to your opinion a few considerations about this moc. It was at thirst idea a dedicated full RC moc. The basic design was: - Ride and direction via servo and XL, - Crane stabilizator via M one motor - Crane rotation via M motor - Two sections arm (with hook) with extension via 2L and one M motor. - Lifting bed via one L motor. This is one classic setup for this kind of truck but i thought it could be different. My reflexion is based on the idea that ride and direction is not neccessary a must have. Since the truck is fully suspended with 4 live axles i found it was interresting to keep the direction and ride function in a manual way. This way i could reserve more electrical functions for the crane and try to realise some arocs inspired crane, but with LA in stead of pneumatics. What do you think about this setup idea. Does the manual ride and direction hurt your minds? do you have some instance of similar setup? Thanks for your imput! S. -

+2 for me. Excellent mix of design and functionalities, excellent use of the technic parts, some unusual design and technical realisation . This moc has to be in the HOF. -

Thanks to chefkaspa (94) (Rebrickable member) two new versions are born : green military livery and finaly black ops Thanks to him for his reproduction and kind words -
I had to modify it to ensure its reliability. essential issue was the weakness of the pushrod's fixation. If you build mine (you can deduce everything from the video) it will be ok.
