I actually bought all those about 2 years ago and have only just gotten around to doing the designs for the decals now! :) -

Tell me about it, I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for my decal paper to turn up in the mail, I've got a 6 day weekend this week and a ton of pieces, decal paper and the town hall somewhere in the mail. It's gonna suck if none of them arrive before friday. -
My First Decal - Ghostbusters

Let me know how it goes, I'm going to use clear water slide decals on a tan torso so I'll need to change the colour on these images to white so that they print clear, if you need those files in white or any other colour let me know and I can change it for you. I'm tempted to do ghostbusters 2 grey\dark green suits too :) -

My First Decal - Ghostbusters
WetWired replied to WetWired's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
It might work for me for the ghostbuster logos on the arm though, however I did want to print some light flesh on a black head which may not work so well...guess there's only one way to find out. -

Your leia looks great, I can see the colour difference in her neck area but to be honest I'd be happy to get it looking that good. I'm really keen to do it right the first time with these decals, I'm tempted to just sacrifice a section of decal paper to test different colour variations and see which matches the best, it may be worth doing it once with many colours on one sheet in varying hues and brightness's. I want to do the small ghostbusters logo on the arm but I'm not sure how that works, I've ordered both white and clear decal paper but I'm uncertain how printing on while will look. For example let's say I have white decal paper and I print black on it, if I were to cut through that black can you see the white of the underlying paper on the sides where you've cut? or does the ink soak through and it's not visible? As I said I'm new to this and I'd love to pick someone's brain about the do's and don't's. Also has anyone ever tried laying a small area of white decal paper underneath a clear decal to make the colours pop and lighter colours work better on darker lego pieces? or is the decal paper too thick for this to work effectively? -

yeah, no luck here either, I know maya like the back of my hand but it's the ldraw conversion part I'm stuck on -

Good points, I'll definitely do a test print, I'll be printing with clear decal paper on a tan torso so hopefully I don't need to worry about cutting withing the print? I will change the tan to white on the decal so it prints clear when I'm 100% happy with it with that said, could those with experience tell me whether the colours I've used will work out ok printed on clear on a tan torso? -
So I've finished the first pass of my first decal. I'm making the 4 original Ghostbusters. I figured I'd share my progress since it's my first time. To see if I'm on the right track. I'm not sure whether I needed space on the edges like some other decals I've seen have? or is it ok to go to the full extents like I have?

Hi all After a couple of years of wanting to, I've finally made the jump into customizing, I've ordered some waterslide decals and some pieces I think I'll need from bricklink for the customs I want to create. I have a few questions though, mainly about water slide decals. I'm wanting to use a light flesh colour decal on black head and I'm not sure whether it's going to work on a black head, has anyone done any experiments to show how each colour turns on clear waterslide decals on dark colours? If I was forced to print on white waterslide instead, how would I hide the white "edge" of the decal underneath the printing on a black head? Lastly (for now) I can't see myself using an entire A4 waterslide page for the 5 or 6 decals I want to make, is there any tricks to "reprinting" on a page after you've cut out existing decals from it without getting jammed in the printer? Oh one more thing I forgot... is there an library somewhere of "official" decals, that is replications of official lego faces\bodies in decal form? I'd like to try and keep with the lego style of face and bodies and not deviate from that like some decals seem to do. I figured if there is a library of existing ones I could use them as a guide as well as possibly even cutting and pasting eyes\mouths etc from various ones to achieve the results I'm after.

3D Model of Lego Head?
WetWired replied to WetWired's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
If you can get it to work that would be great, I had a try myself with ldr2obj with no luck, I kept getting errors about it being unable to find ldraw.exe and various .dat piece files. -
3D Model of Lego Head?
WetWired replied to WetWired's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah I found those blueprints and another one, both which seem to have slightly conflicting measurements so I'm not sure which is real, I modelled a head anyway to test my headpiece. I was going to do a dark knight rises bane mask but the stud on top of the head kind of prohibits making a nice snuggly fitting mask strap over the top, it kinda looks like he has a massive mohawk or something -
I'm trying to track down an accurate 3d model of a lego head, I want to make a custom headpiece and try one of those 3d printing services to print it, but I'm not convinced the schematics I have are accurate is there an existing library out there somewhere with accurate 3d models of lego pieces that can be imported into maya to use as reference when creating something like this? if not is there any decent schematics for a lego head anywhere? the one I have doesn't seem to have the height of a lego head.

Yeah I was eyeing off that exclusive shopping at home hulk minifigure, I figured I'd buy the 3 cheapest marvel superheroes sets I wanted from there and get the minifig...until I realised it would cost me literally double the price than if I ordered from someone on bricklink charging US RRP. It will work out cheaper to do that and then just buy the hulk minifigure on bricklink for $30 (if it follows other exclusives prices). -
very nice, I started doing some designs for custom minifigs a year or 2 back but never got anywhere past the drawing board, how difficult is it to use water slides for this stuff? does it take some practice? or do you use some other technique?
-
What do promo minifigures like this go for on Bricklink? If the Australian pricing for the marvel sets is on par with the DC ones it would cost me literally double the price to buy the marvel sets I want from shop@home than it would to order them on bricklink from the US or europe... I want to figure out if the money I'll save will be enough to just grab one of these hulk minifigs from bricklink instead.

Anyone know if\when we'll start seeing the town hall in retail like david jones, myer or toys r us? -
I'm looking to unload my extra minifigures from several boxes worth, these are all spares after making complete sets so there's a limited choice. I'm wanting in getting rid of all or most of these so I'm not interested in selling less than 5 at a time. I'm in Australia and happy to post overseas and I can make the sales through my bricklink store if the buyer requires. Here's what I have, Each of them has been opened to verify contents and placed with the package, pamphlet, accessories and stand in a resealable plastic bag. 11x Bandit 11x Highland Battler 10x Minotaur 5x Flamenco Dancer 5x Leprechaun 4x Skater Girl 4x Intergalactic Girl 4x Mechanic All serious offers considered.

Finally made my way there this weekend, I mainly wanted the captains cabin set but they were all out :( all the other items you mentioned were still in stock though and discounted. I ended up just heading to springwood target and picked up the last droid escape set for $29.25 after the 25% off, my first ever star wars set...I mainly wanted an R2 and some storm troopers and it seemed like the best set to get (I missed out on the lukes landspeeder a few years back when it was $35 at big w) -
