Has anyone seen this set in Australia anywhere yet?
-
I guess if you're really desperate you could see if there's any of the brown heads on bricklink? though then that's more money out of your pocket :(
-
Any set with indy's dad in it automatically beats one without :P
-
Being another video game developer I can tell you it's Maya :P But yeah these are great, I'd love to try them myself If I had enough pieces
-
It's a pretty poor set but the pieces in it I've found very useful for MOCs, though judging on the price it's going for now on ebay I wish I'd kept it sealed in it's box :(
-
Yup, I hope (patience and pieces permitting) that I'll do a few bots in a similar style, the plan is for: Police Bot Fireman Bot Soldier Bot and maybe if I can pull it off Astronaut Bot
-
brilliant work, love the dark grey on the red and the intricate detail, can't flaw it
-
This is what I hope will be the first in a series of profession based robots, he's fully articulated at the head, shoulders, elbows, hands, fingers, waist, legs, knees and feet. MA-X arrives at the scene of an accident a little too late. For more detail check out the link at MOCpages which has tons more pics!

Set # 7888-1: The Bat-Tumbler: The Joker's Ice Cream Surprise I got double the quantity of these in transparent black as well as a double of the other trans black pieces
-
yeah I know what you mean about the knees and elbows, that was the limit of my capabilities with the pieces I had. I've since ordered and received a heap more ball joints from bricklink, so my upcoming MOC will be more flexible and won't have that huge gap on the joints like starscream has. And yeah, the head is too big and crappy looking, hence while I abandoned it :) When I try him again I think I'll pretty much double the size, that way I can get better scale on the head and afford that extra detail. My upcoming MOC I hope will be better, using more ball joints and since it's an original design I can use some of the limitations of the lego as part of the character and charm...That's the plan anyway :/

I'm not sure if this is in the correct section, so please move if it's not. Anyway I thought I'd share an MOC I abandoned, I gave up on him for now because I can't get his head looking good at such a small scale, and it kind of brings down the whole thing the way it is now. My plan is to wait another year or so when I have more lego pieces and attempt him again at a larger scale, that way I will have more freedom to make his head look better. Anyway here it is, Classic 1980s Cartoon Transformers Starscream I've pulled him apart already I'm using the basic skeletal structure for an upcoming original MOC (not based on any character or TV\Movie) Anyway he's fully articulated at the hips, legs, knees, feet, head, arms elbows, hands and fingers. And can be positioned and stood in a variety of positions. And before you ask, no it doesn't transform, I'm not that insane :P His wings were pretty rough too and I was going to improve them but after hitting a wall with the head I didn't bother, look for it again in about a year...or two :D

Yeah I understand you're going to need to weigh up priorities of price vs the number of stores you're ordering from, but a faster way of comparing that would be nice, say for example you say, find me these pieces, in the least amount of stores possible. It comes back with a result of say 3 stores for $34, now you have a pull down menu where you can say add another 1 or 2 stores and what price will that give me? if you understand what I mean?
-
I understand what you mean about the achievement and challenge of placing an order but really it comes down to time, I work full time and I'm married so what free time I do have I want to spend actually making things and not wasting literally 8 hours my time in front of a computer (I do enough of that at work) placing an order on bricklink.

I'm a fairly new user to Bricklink, I've only been using it for about a year now, but I think that's why my feedback is more relevant. Now before I start don't get me wrong, Bricklink is a fantastic facility for people around the world to find missing pieces and buy Lego by piece or in bulk. But Bricklink isn't what it could and should be. My main issue is accessibility, there is quite a learning curved barrier to purchasing anything in Bricklink, I thought at first that it was just the way it was and I just needed to learn how to use it. But now after introducing a friend to Bricklink and experiencing their frustration with using the system I think it's really highlighted the situation for me. I'll break down what I think are some of the major failings of Bricklink and where it could use improvement. Searching: The main problem myself and I think most people find is trying to the pieces you want in the least amount of stores possible. I know you can use your wanted list to search by store, but ideally it needs a feature where it searching through all stores for pieces on your wanted list and gives your a result that balances the cheapest price available via least amount of stores. While giving you the option seeing what difference in price it would make if you added more stores. Purchasing and Quantities The feature of a wish list seems a bit useless when you cannot auto fill your cart with the correct quantities in a store. Having to manually go in and type in the quantity of each item in a cart with items already on your wanted list is time consuming and annoying. An auto-fill to wanted list would be greatly appreciated. Shopping Cart Shopping Carts really need to be saved when you leave a store and accessible when you return, showing a list of what carts you have open in which stores. I know most people will respond with "you're doing it wrong, you can do it by doing this", but that's kind of my point, Bricklink is not user friendly and making a simple purchase is a time consuming and labored procedure. It shouldn't be. I shouldn't need to spend time learning how to use what is basically a shopping cart like any other online store. Within minutes of discovering Bricklink I should be able to make a purchase without having to learn the best way of buying. It should be easy and painless. In its current state, you have to spend a considerable amount of time organizing your purchase. I'm not doing this because I hate Bricklink, I'm doing it because I want it to improve. By having an easier and more intuitive interface and features I think sellers would see increased sales through simple ease of use.

Green Grocer was my favourite The whole Batman theme in general was atrocious, I wish they'd take a different approach to the theme like indy and star wars and do more realistic takes on the Batman vehicles from the movies (mainly burton's and nolan's films) All the crazy contraptions they make up just doesn't fit with any of the batman franchises (movie, tv or comic) At least give us a dedicated "movie" themed batman line for those who want it

I don't know what my first one was but the first I can remember was this one I got for my 5th Birthday

Yeah these things are great, I saw some on special over the holiday break for AU$10 at big hardware chain store in Australia (Bunnings), I grabbed 2 thinking they looked liked they'd be good to store my smaller pieces in. After taking them home and organizing pieces into them I went out the next day and bought 3 more :) The way I do it though, several of the colours I have a lot of (black, grey, dark grey) I've used one tackle box for each colour, but it only contains pieces under 4x studs long, anything else over that is in a sealed plastic tub. I find most of the time I'm looking for pieces, they're the small fiddly ones so this system works great. I plan to go buy 3 more of them this weekend :)

Lord of the Rings just so I could play the video game they'd eventually make for it

I'll be in Berlin for a holiday (I'm from Australia) later this month and was going to go check out Legoland Berlin, has anyone been that can answer my questions about Pick-A-Brick? Is it per cup? or per 100grams? I've seen conflicting reports, one photo I saw mentioned it was 7 Euros for 100grams, another said it came in 2 different cup sizes? Also is there any way to find out what pieces are available there in pick a brick? so I can plan my attack :)

http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/66698 A friend challenged me to make this after my LEGO Tumbler creation. His original challenge was to create it exclusively from pieces I had used in the Tumbler itself. My first attempt was pretty poor, but it inspired me to try and create it properly from any of the pieces I have (which isn't much). What I ended up creating was slightly larger than my original minifig scale Batpod, but I think a more accurate looking version. The end result I think is about 1.5 to 2 times minifig scale, but I think the Batman minifig doesn't look too out of place on it. I did manage to capture some of the features from the movie version, such as the ability to raise and lower as shown in the picture above. Some features I was unable to recreate at such a small scale and with the limited pieces I had at my disposal. I wasn't able to make the front and rear wheels attach by only one arm each, nor was I able to fit 3 guns on each side of the front tire without making the whole thing look too bulky. The Batpod as shown next to the Tumbler, as you can see it's quite of of scale. Above is my first attempt of the Batpod, created from pieces only used in my LEGO Tumbler creation, it's actual minifig scale but as you can see visually accurate to the film version. I would like to work on this some more, but I have limited pieces and I'm about to leave on a 2 month vacation to Europe and Africa (I'm in Australia) so I don't really have time at the moment unfortunately :(

I got bored so I made up these, I thought I'd share, I like the "Bats" one most I think... "Clean" 1920x1200 widescreen "Bats" 1920x1200 widescreen "Batman" 1920x1200 widescreen
-
I could probably make one arm strong enough, but the problem is making the gun and pieces on the other side of the tire stay horizontal and not just spin with the tire
-
haha no it doesn't fit inside the tumbler, this one is purely for visuals, I don't think I could even manage to have it look like this and still fit on my tumbler. Batman just sorta holds on to the sides to stay on, it's not very stable but I don't really make my MOCs to play with :) I may look into it and see if I can make batman sit on it more securely. But yeah I'll work on it some more tonight and improve the back end some more

A friend challenged me to try the batpod after my tumbler creation, I originally tried to make it using only pieces from the tumbler (if you've seen the movie you'll know why) I did make one using only pieces from the tumbler, but it was a bit lackluster so I tried again using any piece I could find, it's still being worked on, I plan to add a bit more detail around the rear wheel like the real thing. It does however pivot up and down in the middle like the one in the movie. Problems so far are: The front wheel is held by 2 bars (the one in the movie only has one bar on one side), I couldn't find any way around this and still be stable. It's slightly larger than minifig scale Anyone got any suggestions for improvements? and please be brutal Here's an updated picture, you'll have to excuse the lackluster photography this time, I'll take some better shots when I get time I'm reasonably happy with it now, so unless you guys have some suggestions for improvements (and please do) I'll probably leave it at this, changes from the original are: Large Tires (using my tumblers rear tires) all new handles\arm protectors that closer match the movie version the seat matches the movie one closer now too, and is much smaller detail added around the rear wheel like the movie version With the new larger tires, I think it looks more accurate to the movie, but is definitely too big for minifig scale, as the whole thing is about the same height as batman himself, whereas in the movie it probably comes to about stomach height.

To celebrate the imminent release of The Dark Knight in cinemas, I've decided to give away my instructions for the Tumbler for free (I was charging before). MOCPages Gallery These instructions were created by myself in MLCAD in what I hope is a professional presentation. They're available online at http://www.potatoz.net/Tumbler/ which also contains links to the full parts list (including a Brickstore file) as well a downloadable version in PDF format. If you enjoyed the instructions and build and want an extra challenge, you could also have a go a doing the painted camo version below. MOCPages Gallery If you find any issues with the build or broken links, let me know and I'll fix it asap. That's it! Enjoy! P.S. I won't turn down donations of bricks
