I've finally got myself a MOCpages account and added the batmobile for my first MOC! :) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/51318 It's the same photos as shown here, but with a write up about the design process

Ok I tried hydrochloric acid today on a old yellowed white piece, one I didn't care if I wrecked it it actually had the opposite effect and now the piece is nearly tan :) so I guess if you want a lot of tan and don't want to buy a heap of new sets to get them, just stick them in some acid for 10 minutes :) Seriously though, don't try this at home, hydrochloric acid is a very dangerous chemical and it can cause serious burns or worse if you inhale the fumes. I will revert back to the bleach technique though, what intervals do you all recommend on replacing the bleach liquid to increase effectiveness? daily? every second day?
-
I found a heap of old lego catalogues, dating back to about 1983 in fairly good condition, are these things worth anything now?
-
I've tried the bleach overnight on a slightly yellowed piece (nothing like your wing) and it did have results, I will do a bulk load at some stage and leave them in for longer I have quite a few broken pieces too so I might use them as a test with hydrochloric acid on the weekend, I'm hoping they don't explode or something hehe Anyone I'd love to see an update on your wing, as that seems like a worst case scenario has anyone tried using bleach on colour parts yet? I tried a few pieces overnight (grey, black, red and yellow) and they came out a more vivid in colour, I'm just worried that overtime they will become washed out so I don't know if I'd do it for all my coloured pieces

ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
WetWired replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So I've only recently gotten back into lego, and I've found all my old stuff from my childhood, pulled it all out and I'm disappointed to find it's in pretty poor condition, broken pieces, teeth and dent marks in the pieces, yellowed white pieces, faded/worn prints, stickers peeling off etc Some of them are nearly 30 years old so I guess I can't expect them to be perfect, but has anyone got any tips for restoring old pieces? I'm assuming there's no way of getting out dints and teeth marks. I've looked around on the net and some people have recommended bleach to bring back the colour in the white pieces, has anyone got any experience with this? I started cleaning my pieces individually with a toothbrush but after 30 mins I had only done 3 small space vehicle sets out of my nearly 100 old sets which included a 4-5 large buildings, and I don't think I have the patience to do all of them that way. The washing machine technique, I'm assuming you don't put printed parts in there? should I just do those ones by hand? what about rubber tires with metal axels? clear parts? do they all hold up well in a lukewarm wash? -
Anyone who buys this from lego, or even builds it from their own pieces, I'd love to see photos of it, especially the factory packaging as I don't think I'll ever be able to afford getting one myself from factory Also if anyone is up for the challenge, I'd love to see it with it's original tan/brown colour scheme like this...
-
The one on factory is slightly different, main differences are that a couple of 1x4 black tiles have been replaced with one 1x8 black tile and factory won't let you use 1x2 black tiles so I used black grills instead, mine has a dark bley exhaust, the factory one is light bley, my tires are chrome silver, the factory ones are light bley, the airplane style steering wheel instead of the round one, minor things really

Thanks for all the praise guys, with the lego digital designer you can export some HTML instructions which I've done and uploaded for anyone who is interested. If that's not enough for you (the camera angle is a bit limited which doesn't help) Let me know and I can probably do a step by step photos of building it, but as you can expect it may take some time to put together. Click here to view the instructions Anyway tonight I decided to see what else I could make with the tumbler parts so I pulled it apart and made this a new batwing based of the new batman logo... It's nothing special but if you look at it from above

yes it fits 1 minifig inside (even more headroom for batman's big ears) here's the LXF for those who wanna check out how it was made (it's slightly different to the real life version though, but not by much http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/The_Tumbler.lxf

Some of you may remember the lego batmobile I made in LDD well I went ahead and order the pieces to build it and the final pieces arrived today (via bricklink) and I put it all together, I bought a little lego batman to go with it too :) The batman lego dude fits inside and has a little cockpit with steering wheel, it's too dark to get a decent photo of the interior tonight so I'll try again tomorrow, anyway here she is. Updated with extra pics showing the interior and in more natural lighting, there's quiet a few on this page now so give it a little bit to load them all

damn, I was tempted to get it, I thought I'd wait a day and see if it's still cheap, guess I missed out :(

I thought I'd finally post in here after making a few other posts around the place. I'm 28, married. In Brisbane Australia (for now, we're moving to the UK in a couple of months for a year working holiday) I'm a 3D Artist for a video game company, I can pretty much trace my routes for that career back to my obsession with lego as a child (I had/have about 100 sets, mainly town stuff with a few space). I hadn't touched the stuff for years until playing lego star wars on xbox brought me back into the fold. Since then I picked up the indiana jones lego sets and I've been working on my batmobile (http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=15416), just waiting on a few parts to arrive and finish it off and I'll post some cool photos on here :)
-
I've ordered the parts from bricklink, I've got most of the parts, I'm just waiting on the hubs, rollcage and black flags to finish it, it's sitting in front of me now 95% complete. I'll upload the lxf tonight, however I have made modifications to it that won't show up in LDD, since I could use more pieces through bricklink than what's available in LDD, but it was mainly small modifications such as replacing 2 1x4 black tiles with 1 1x8 black tile, replacing most of the 1x2 grills with 1x2 black tiles (which aren't available in LDD) I've used a better steering wheel and using printed tiles in the cockpit rather than slopes. I've done a quick test with similar pieces and the front wheels should hold for mild use (sitting no my desk and pushing back and forth hehe) but they I don't think they'll hold up to weight pushed down on them though, but it's not really for play so I don't mind :) Oh and my batman minifig fits inside perfectly, I was very happy with how it well it fit. Once the final parts have arrived I'll take some nice photos and post them here. I'd love to actually see the tan and brown camo version from the movie before it was painted black, I may even order the parts myself, but if someone else has the parts I'd love to see a photo. There's more screenshots of it in LDD here if anyone wants to see them, just try and picture it without all the grills and flat tiles instead http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/Tumbler_01.jpg http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/Tumbler_02.jpg http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/Tumbler_03.jpg http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/Tumbler_04.jpg http://www.potatoz.net/images/Lego/Tumbler_05.jpg

Here's another remake of a classic set I did in LDD, While it is bigger than the old one I tried to keep it small and cute, the air tanks have been redesigned as well as the detail in the back
-
Awesome, I'm glad to see this idea take off, I'm working on another one myself, the little space buggy 886, but I'm not finished yet so I won't post it
-
cool, I might have to try the hub trick on my next revamp, for those that are interested I've uploaded it to factory http://shop.lego.com/Product/Factory/Produ...04-856e86d40ebf to either buy or just download the file for yourself and modify it all you want

After seeing the new space theme, and thinking back to my old favorites I had as a child, and being bored, I thought I'd try and recreate one of the earliest space sets I remember having. I'm limited to Lego Digital Designer for the moment unfortunately though :( Here's my version of the revamped space set "6841 Mineral Detector" I've tried to keep the same proportions roughly, there's more joins in the detector arms for extra flexibility :) and the steering wheel has been replace with an adjustable console that sits over the drivers lap. Original Anyone else got any revamped old sets to post?

Tank Chase Indy, Jones Snr, Marcus Brody, Nazis, Tank, Horse what more could you ask for? Flying Wing (as already mentioned above) Zepplin Chase Zepplin, Indy in Jacket, Jones Snr, Plane that detaches from the bottom of the zepplin, Nazi Plane, Seagulls + Umbrella I've got no idea what the prices would be but the zepplin would be expensive

hence why I was looking for someone to give it a try, it's not meant to be played with or anything, as long as it' sits without falling apart
-
They're attached to the outside via a "connector peg with knob" as it's described in the digital designer Pic resized, sorry about that

Hi all, I'm a new user. I've just been getting back into lego lately after a 15 year hiatus and I've been playing with the lego digital designer, I've managed to create my own version of the batmobile tumbler, I'm tempted to buy it but I'm concerned about how it will work in reality. I'm wondering if anyone out there with a large collection of pieces (mine are quite old and I don't have most of the new ones) would care to take a look at my design (I'd send you the lxf file) and try building it, I don't mind if the colours don't match. I just want to see if it will be solid and won't fall apart :) Here's a quick image of what I built (I've actually made some slight modifications since I took this shot but it's close enough) Thanks
