Some of you may remember my LDD Pet Store from a while back. After some considering I've decided to abandon that one as it was just going to be far too expensive for me to build on my limited budget. Instead I've chosen to try and build something in a similar vein but only using pieces I have already (which isn't much once I've built Cafe Corner and Green Grocer) What I'm after is any suggestions and comments, this is my first pass, I haven't got a full back yet, or decorated interior or a full roof but you get the idea. And please consider that I don't have unlimited pieces so I may not be able to take all suggestions offered. Anyway enough yapping, here is my Pet Store Version 0.1 As you can see I ran out of Dark Bluish Grey Tiles for the footpath :( . I'll have to come up with another solution, suggestions? I don't like the mix of white and tan at the back here, I'll try a few more things with it yet. Also as you can see the top is incomplete.

PRESS RELEASE. After 30 years...it's time to return.
WetWired replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice Idea I made some of these revisted sets a while back, just as I was coming out of my dark ages using LDD, I should try them for real now that I have bought up a small collection of pieces, see if I can build them. They're pretty boring, all grey and no minifigs shown with them, but you get the idea. Original Thread link Original My Version Original Thread Link Original My Version -
I don't quite understand what you mean with the lever sticks jammed in the studs If only lego would release a double sided plate :)
-
What's the best way to reverse directions of studs? ie to attach bricks together so you have studs on both sides. What is the best way to do this so it's the smallest possible size? and also what's the best way for strength?
-
was that the set you actually ordered? and you just got 4 of them? or did you order something else and those were in there as well?
-
My wife got me this for valentines, it's a very quick build but the real standout is the minifigs, 5 minifigs and all brand new and each interesting in their own way (well maybe not the gansters, they're almost identical, but they're still awesome) The cars were cool, but felt a little bland to me, not sure why as I do prefer they way they've used more realistic minimal colours in it, and not introduced random colours like LEGO's own tumbler which is all over the place.

On Ebay: Custom LEGO Batmobile Tumbler
WetWired replied to WetWired's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
yup, as 3d Brickthing stated it is minifig scale, fits a batman minifig inside! I would have included a batman but the price they're reach these days it would have drove the price up by at least AU$20 -
I hope theymake them Minifig sized toy story characters, though a larger creator style buzz lightyear would be cool. Alfred Molina in prince of persia? so he's to be immortalized in LEGO....again!
-
Mods please delete this if this is against the rules, I wasn't sure. Anyway I thought I'd give a heads up and increase my potential buyers pool. I have for sale my Custom Batmobile Tumbler from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (God rest it's soul) More pics here Or better yet check out the auction itself... Ebay Auction Link And I assure you all proceeds from this auction will go towards buying more LEGO :)

Well Kevin Rudd's stimulus package has passed the senate! $900 for everyone! who else plans to buy some lego with it? :) Cafe Corner here I come -
I tried doing exactly what you're talking about with cafe corner, I parted it out in brickstore and found that it wasn't really cheaper than RRP to do it that way. However as you said that batman set is way over RRP and you might find it's cheaper for that set to buy it per piece from bricklink.

2 of these sets I can't use for MOCs as they have stickers applied and I don't want to pull them apart for fear of ruining the stickers, they're actually the last couple I bought before dark ages, so they're in excellent condition still and fully assembled. 6594-1 Gas Transit LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6668-1 Recycle Truck LEGO / SYSTEM / Town Would anyone here be interested in either of these? and want to make an offer? I can provide photos if needed

"$10000? Tell em they're dreaming" Seriously though, I think they need to reconsider their employment choice and see if they can get their jobs back, I think it was quite foolish of them to expect people to pay that much money for something like that, it really does need to be something special to be asking for large sums of money like that. I've seen better that people have done for as a hobby and not for resale, the Olympic and Yankee stadiums are a good example. Outside of licensed properties (star wars etc) I think you'll find there isn't much of a market for custom lego creations unless you're a LEGO certified professional. I don't mean to be a downer, I just think it needs to be said. Perhaps as others have said, try something smaller next time, and take a look at your competition, see what custom stuff sells now and see if you can find a gap in the market at a smaller price point. If you get good at it you'll earn a good reputation slowly and eventually might be able to put up the high price tag items once your reputation and more importantly, skills up to a higher standard.

I'm not a fan of castle stuff at all, but even I'd buy this!, great details and so many awesome faces, headpieces, animals and accessories!
-
It's just a simple 1x1 vertical clip attached to she side of the eye. I just photographed it from an angle so it wasn't obviously visible. And as for the speculation to the cause of the accident, I think it's better if you make up your own story

I don't have or plan to have a town layout so that doesn't really bother me, I like buying new sets for what they are end up using any new lego for MOCs, which often don't last more than a couple of days before being dismantled for the next creation.

I've got a ton of old sets I had growing up (late 70s to early 90s) and a little over a year ago I came out of my dark ages and starting buying new lego. The thing is I wouldn't dare mix my old pieces with the new ones, they're not in that bad of condition, but it's enough for me to not want to pollute my new lego with them. Selling them would help purchase new sets (Cafe Corner, ) but I still have a certain attachment to those old sets and then on the other hand I know I'll never use them again, perhaps only to hand down to my children in the future. What have most of you done? Should I sell up and trade them in for newer models? :P or should I keep them all? or should I sell some and keep my favourites? I'm not even sure what they're worth really? These are most of the sets I have, compiled from Peeron, most of these are complete, maybe a couple are missing one or two pieces. 6502-1 Turbo Racer LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6613-1 Telephone Booth LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6657-1 Fire Patrol Copter LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6642-1 Police Helicopter LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6622-1 Mailman on Motorcycle LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6821-1 Shovel Buggy LEGO / SYSTEM / Space / Classic 6634-1 Stock Car LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6017-1 King's Oarsmen LEGO / SYSTEM / Castle / Crusaders 1916-1 Starion Patrol LEGO / SYSTEM / Space / Space Police II 301-1 Curved Road Plates LEGO / Accessories / Town 6306-1 Road Signs LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Accessories / Signs 329-2 Bernard Bear and Pickup Truck LEGO / Fabuland / Figure with Vehicle 6380-1 Emergency Treatment Center LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Emergency 6825-1 Cosmic Comet LEGO / SYSTEM / Space / Classic 6629-1 Ambulance LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 361-2 Garage LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6388-1 Holiday Home with Caravan LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 6312-1 2 Road Plates, Straight LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Accessories / Road Plates 6316-1 Flags & Fences LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Accessories / Trees and Fences 6841-1 Mineral Detector LEGO / SYSTEM / Space / Classic 6694-1 Car with Camper LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 1631-1 race car LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Race 6524-1 Blizzard Blazer LEGO / SYSTEM / Town / Service and Repair 6022-1 Horse Cart LEGO / SYSTEM / Castle / LEGOLAND Castle 6655-1 Auto & Tire Repair LEGO / SYSTEM / Town 3793-1 Buzzy Bulldog with Mailbox... Does anyone in Brisbane know if the Lego Educational Center is still in business at Southbank? I went there early last year and then spent 3 months travelling through Europe and Africa to come back and find it's not in the yellow pages anymore. I'm at Springwood and it's a bit far for me to just drive to find if it still is so I was wondering if anyone here knows if it is or not? -
LDD picture quality
WetWired replied to Buttons's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
if only MLCAD's bricks would click into each other like LDDs though, rather than havinng to manually line them up so they don't intersect each other :( -
There was a point my parents stopped buying it for me thinking I was getting too old and I had to save up for sets myself (which usually only meant small sets) Eventually I discovered computers and video games and grew out of it, until I was 27 and played lego star wars the video game :P
