  1. As for personal opinions... I went to Art School for 4 years and have a degree in Fine Arts... LEGO sets based on classic artworks do not interest me in the slightest! I'd like to know why they selected "Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh for their LEGO Ideas Second 2020 Review as the sole approval. Sure it's a great "lenticular" interpretation of a classic artwork, but it doesn't have any playability nor does it function beyond a display piece. Will it inspire MODs or other classic artworks in LEGO form? I don't see it. Whereas, Pirates of Barracuda Bay inspired a whole new design aesthetic for LEGO Pirates. So now we're seeing MOCs and Classic LEGO Pirates sets re-imagined in the same design style - that should communicate something important to the LEGO Group.
  2. We need that sales data! Interested, yes! Thank you!
  3. Thanks for the information! That webpage says "A total of 1,739 fans took part [...] The swashbuckling theme came out on top with 692 votes, representing 39.79% of all votes cast." Given the population of China is almost 1.4 billion, 1,739 participants is very small sample size.

  5. How big is the Chinese LEGO community, anyway? We get Chinese fans joining the Classic Pirates Facebook Group quite regularly but that's not really showing us the bigger picture.
  6. Put them in a bucket or container? They should be armed and ready for action at all times!
  7. Post any Exceptionally good LEGO Pirate Photos HERE! But only if the photography is professional grade. “Waiting for the Fireworks” by Marco Zanconi (APhOL) Source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/theaphol/50783782597/in/pool-classic-pirate/ “Barracdua” by Marco Zanconi (APhOL) Source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/theaphol/50358585473/
  8. Are you familiar with the tale called "Treasure Island"?
  9. While that is an impressive array of ships I'm not finding many wacky ships among them... although this ship with the pink and blue hull stands out:

  11. Not quite pirate, but almost fits the period...
  12. Yes, indeed! But I must ask; what's the fascination with snow in the Caribbean? Or snow in LEGO Pirate MOCs?
  13. There's an interesting article on that.
  14. When was the first time?
  15. Apparently it snows where the Pirates Inn is located...
  16. That's the thing, it's not Duplo, and its not even compatible with Duplo. But it is 100% compatible with regular (I.e SYSTEM) LEGO. I've wondered that myself! I remember the announcement in 2003 that LEGO Pirates would be returning and it was very exciting... Until close up photos of the sets were revealed.
  17. This is probably not what you have in mind... but it is definitely an area which has snow...
  18. Actually there was worse...
