[OFFICIAL] "How to Be a Pirate" LEGO Little Golden Book
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Given that we're talking about a book based on LEGO here... LEGO being a stylistic medium which is quite far removed from reality. So how would you make the storyline more realistic? -
Sebeus is an old master! Hence why he's earned the Ship Expert tag. When I first saw this in the Classic Pirates Facebook Group my initial impression was "Imperial Trading Post remix" I think it was the red roof and sail on the ship that did that. But after a closer inspection, this MOC does indeed vastly expand upon the concept of Broadside's Brig. It has a very classic feel to it, yet updating the design to a more modern aesthetic. Definitely a worthy contender for first place - all the best!

Red will be quite striking! And drive fear into enemy when they see her coming over the horizon! But what about a figurehead?
-
Ok, fantastic! Now let's look at what you've added to Barracuda Bay... So there's some bunks and a kitchen - but what else?
-
Thank you for sharing! You've added some much needed accoutrements to old Barracuda Bay! For those who aren't very knowledgeable like me, what is that thing you're holding up in this photo?

I guess there be two options: You can create a review as a forum topic and a blogger (probably me) will adapt it into blog post format Since you've already got a Classic-Pirates.com account you can create the blog post yourself... but we have an all new blogging system you won't be familiar with! Some pick it up in no time, others find it challenging. -

You've made good progress! But will you get it completed this weekend as planned?
-
Very nice! Did you name these figures? Or are the names up to us?

You're a legend! The LEGO Group has not issued an official reason beyond what they initially stated around the time Pirates of Barracuda Bay was released. Circa April 2020 they said they would not be accepting any LEGO Ideas submissions which overlapped with the Pirates of Barracuda Bay concept... and then all of a sudden pirate submissions began disappearing from LEGO Ideas! That lead to many complaints so they've been accepting Pirate themed submissions again, but they reject them during the review process without clearly indicating why. I'm not aware of that data being made public... Yes, let's hope The LEGO Group surprises us by releasing a huge Imperial set in the fourth quarter of this year for their 90th Anniversary. Just in time for Christmas!

There have been a couple. One was BrickHammer's first pirate related LEGO Ideas submission, "Imperial Island Fort" and another was "Caribbean Clipper" by Baby Teeth. We became aware of both of those LEGO Ideas projects when they had around 5,000-6,000 supporters so we gave them a helping hand to ensure they got the rest of the way. The winning part (I.e. gaining 10K Supporter) is inevitable, ending up on toy store shelves however... don't get your hopes up! The LEGO Ideas Team has a nasty habit of rejecting pirate-themed submissions during the review process. So far four 10K submission have been rejected during review.

So one today she'll be flying the British flags! Good to see you're making this a family venture - having him in the shot also helps to provide scale. This is coming together very well - thank you for sharing your updates!

New Pirate River Quest ride at LEGOLAND Florida!
Mister Phes replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yeah, I noticed that facial expression as well. I get that she's supposed to be a cutthroat pirate and all, but the character looks like a moody teenager who is discontent with their job and doesn't want to be there. Maybe I'm missing content not having see the live performance, but is that the kind of character people really want to bring their kids to see?
