[ENTRY][SMALL] Steve's Arrival in Port Royal
Mister Phes replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
It appears I've been distracting wrapping up the First to 25 Critic Challenge because I have yet to update the Entries Index - I better get on to that! -
Did you miss my earlier suggestion? Which was: build a new ship around 200 pieces or less and submit the ship as the Entry, then your existing build/display can be used as the background. It doesn't have to a big entry. You could even build a 25 piece boat if you're really that limited on space. I.e. then the new ship can sit within your existing display and barely consume additional space. It could even be a modded Merchant Cutter. I assume you have both the original 6276 Imperial Trading Post version and 10320 the Eldorado Fortress versions.

[CONTEST] The Infamous Steve - Creative Critic
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Nominations take place after entries close to determine the Grand Prize Winner of those who have been participating in the Creative Critic. You're not supposed to nominate someone to be a Creative Critic! Although, now I've seen it happen, it doesn't seem like such a bad idea. Oh aye, all the fine print! I didn't think anybody would actually read that. Congratulations! You were the first to reach 25 Replies! If you've like to claim your 35€ Prize, please: Send me your postal address in a Private Message Tell us which set you'd like out of those available on your local LEGO.com Do you have a sigfig? Or LEGO minifigure which represents your online presence? It would be nice to have face when we post the winner announcement. When do you get back? We might be able to postpone the next challenge until your return. -

[CONTEST] The Infamous Steve - Creative Critic
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
The rules state "While the Classic Pirates Crew will be monitoring, we cannot guarantee 24/7 coverage." So the declaration is to ensure you victory is observed ASAP, but not mandatory to secure a prize. If there is sufficient interest we might have another challenge in a few weeks. But you might still be away. -
Is there a way you can modify this especially for the contest? Maybe add a few more details to it. For example: build a new ship around 200 pieces and submit the ship as the Entry, then the existing build can be used as the background.

It appears @Horation has beat you to it while you were away. He reached 25 Posts around 8 hours ago (at the time of writing this post) - here's a screenshot of the three posts that got him over the finish line: Nonetheless, you can count the posts for yourself: Math Wizard Horation -

The good thing about the First to 25 Challenges is amicable communication and etiquette aren't so important. You just need to post 25 Replies first and you WIN the Prize! -

Have you not read the First to 25 Progress Report? There have been a couple of rule changes to make the challenges less challenging. Then you better write 7 more replies within the next 24 hours! Really, this isn't it hard. The replies only need to be 1 sentence long. -

Just the Grand Prize / overall award. The First to 25 Challenges close July 6. You're 7 Replies away from a 35€ Prize so I'm sure you can achieve that goal within the next week. In fact, you could probably get that done in a single, 15 minute sitting if you put your mind to it! -

Congratulations to Sydney and SevenDeadlyStreamers for winning the First to 25 Builder Challenge! Congratulations to SpacePolice89 for winning the First to 25 Builder Challenge! Congratulations to Horrington for winning the First to 25 Critic Challenge! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Creative Critic Advice There has been some great Critic Feedback but there is no requirement to write an entire review or analysis in a Single Post! In fact, it’s better if you don’t or you'll exhaust yourself! If you’re able to write multiple paragraphs of feedback, great! But spread your feedback over multiple Posts containing 1-3 Sentences. The Creative Critic is meant to be a friendly discussion between Participants, not a comprehensive review from Critics to Builders! More Creative Critic advice here. Building Entrant Advice There have also been some fantastic Building Entrant replies but to claim a Prize early here's a couple of tips: Make conversation with the other Participants who are Replying to your Building Entry Topics! Especially the Creative Critics! If someone Replies to your Entry Topic; Quote or Tag them so they’re alerted to your response and then acknowledge what they said. More Building Entrant advice here. Please note that the above images do not update in real time so the data is subject to change – be sure to check the LEGO Pirate MOC Forum regularly for the latest information. Full Report This is the abridged report and a more comprehensive report can be found here or a visual representation of the advice here. Rule Changes In the interest of simplifying the Rules so to make the Challenges less challenging, the following revisions have been made: The Reply Count is taken from the very beginning of the Contest. The number of Replies is the number you see in the forum view. So this now includes your own Replies on your own Bulding Entry Topics. The First to 25 Challenges will close on July 8 regardless of whether the Prizes have been claimed - so get Posting! Who's Going to WIN? There are THREE Prizes waiting to be claimed! It's just a matter of someone stepping up and writing a few more Posts. The Creative Critic Prize could be claimed in a one sitting! Will that be you? Or is some Newcomer going to pip you at the post? I.e. steal the lead and claim the Prizes instead?

[MOC] Smoldering Bay Fishing (Edit: Free instructions online)
Mister Phes replied to MontyMatte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Brilliant work, @Captain Braunsfeld! And bonus points for incorporating a pop culture reference into your post. So what are the chances of this submission reaching the Crowd Funding phase? -
What a splendid backstory to transition Steve from the Imperial Trading Post to Skulls Eye Schooner! Do yer happen to have any close-up shots of your Steve minfigure?

[CONTEST] The Infamous Steve - Creative Critic
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
To give people advanced notice of what's about to happen. it takes time to create Building Entries, and when the contest starts, we have no idea how fast the entries will be submitted. So imagine if only one Entry was submitted in the first few weeks - that Entry would win the First to 25 by default and there wouldn't be any competition! -
It means 2 (or more) consecutive posts in the same topic. And "consecutive" is defined as: one post immediately following another post by the same author. This is to prevent someone from posting 25 consecutive posts in the same Building Entry Topic.
-
That is correct! That is also correct! That is absolutely right! The reason is; we don't anyone influencing which Builder wins by making consecutive posts in their Entry topic. Instead, there has to be interaction with other participants to reach the 25 posts.

[CONTEST] The Infamous Steve - Creative Critic
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
There will be an official announcement when the First to 25 Challenges commence to remind everyone of the important details. But the complete rules can be found here. To quote the infomation you're seeking: Currently we have 4 different Building Entrants. I'll be keeping an eye on things... but I can't check the forum 24/7 so its advantageous if Entrants are also monitoring their own progress. -
Then you have nothing to worry about!
-
That is correct. Are we talking half a dozen bricks? Or a couple of hundred?
-
It's not a strict part count; more of loose guide to decide whether they're aiming for a Large or Small entry. So just an approximation will do. But most importantly, does it look like a Large or Small entry?
