  1. Well no, you don't have to publish anything on CUUSOO. Should you be considering it I'd suggest some minors revisions... More minifigures! A set this size needs at least 8. Interesting accessories to go with the minifigures. Maybe come up with something new. Incorporate an opposing faction. Pirates is the most obvious choice but maybe you could get creative and invent your own. Incorporate more plant life into the design. It's a bit barren! A palm tree is a staple of every large pirate set so at the very least you should have one of those, but some smaller plants growing off the rocks could work nicely. Where are the animals? Is that a gull perched atop the dock post? It looks brick-build which is redundant now there's a LEGO seagull. Consider finding some LEGO animals that will work well with theme of this design. Incorporate some nifty features. You've got a swivel cannon and a crane but that's not really enough so you'll need to brainstorm something original. Now you might be saying this is a LDD creation and there are limitations over what can be achieved. But guess what! People don't care! Unless you can deliver a fully featured LEGO Pirates sets you can't expect them to vote for it. Would you pay good money for a Pirate Set lacking minifigures, animals, accessories, plant life and nifty features? Well, I wouldn't and I suspect others wouldn't either. A good design is one thing but playability and value are other important factors.
  2. Given the response to this minifigure pack unfortunately it doesn't seem like it will ignite much.
  3. So let's get a closer look... Hmmm... A larger image is not helping. You'd do well to lose some of the white-space to make the MOC appear larger and thus be seen in more detail. I.e. this: Opposed to this:
  4. Superb review as always, Whitefang! While this minifigure pack probably doesn't offer much AFOLs it has a faint echo of the same charm 6235 Buried Treasure possesses, the set which lured me to the LEGO Pirates theme when I was 10 years old. It's very basic construction and generous supply of accessories fired up my imagination, more so than the actual design. It's unfortunate the minifigures are rehashed but at least the heads have not previously appeared in LEGO Pirate sets, though it would have been preferable to have two different pirate torsos, or at least different coloured legs. It seems the price is going to be the deal breaker for many, as previously mentioned it does seem a bit steep for a set which lacks new parts. However, had the all the minfigures been new then it could have been an exciting and good-valued minifigure pack.
  5. Does your tower have a thread in this forum with more images? If so, please provide a URL as I'm interested to see more.
  6. WHOA!!! This is the most realistic looking Brickfilm I've seen posted here! Ahhh... Wait... A "non-LEGO" project. Well this certainly is a monumental achievement, what's the plan for international distribution?
  7. Excellent! Another tribe of primitives for the mighty Imperial Armada to conquer! Magnificent stone idol too, t'would look good in the front garden of the governor's mansion.
  8. Hook us up with a link to this Monkey Island MOC please lads....
  9. Such a colourful and and vibrant video which is very well edited, although the animation seems rather staccato - is that stylistically intentional? But the music is not piratey or nautical in the slightest! On this track the Trash Monsters should have been to Punk Rock what Alestorm is to heavy metal.
  10. I feel a song coming on... Desmond has a barrow in the marketplace Molly is the singer in a band Desmond says to Molly girl I like your face And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand Ob la di ob la da life goes on bra La la how the life goes on Ob la di ob la da life goes on bra La la how the life goes on
  11. Yes, I was also reminded of these sets, although the rocky crag upon which the fort sits is a bit too brick intensive to be a set. I also think it's clever how the fort can magically change location from along a beach to inside a cove.
  12. Yes, I'd live here but only if you landscaped the garden more. I'd like some palm trees in the front yard if that's not too much trouble. Also, please install a toilet.
  13. It's also ill-advised to engage in anti-competitive business practices...
  14. Irrespective of where the naming conventions originated from has Bricklink patented their naming system?
  15. Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme MERCHANT & SMUGGLER: TORSO & FLAG DESIGNS Those who wish to participate should first read the Design a NEW Pirate Sub-Theme Project Overview. IMPORTANT!!! We are currently focusing on torso and flag designs for the Haven Guard and have not yet properly defined either of the Merchant and Smuggler factions. There has been some discussion about how the minifigures in these factions may appear although this has not been finalised and could change. However, if you have an exciting torso or flag design you'd like to share for either the Merchant and Smuggler factions, please post them in this thread...
  16. A dozen different backgrounds were tested, ranging from light to dark, a little texture to a lot of texture. The current background was voted most suitable by the test group. Having said that, I personally don't like how the the current background clashes with some of the banners, so there will probably be a revision at some point in the future.

  18. Yep, obviously it's been launched but there's going to be bugs and other technical issues. Here's a list of things for the next revision: Make the banner background images load faster. Resolve an issue caused by no avatar image. Widen the title background. The Incoming Message dialogue requires styling. The Quick Navigation dialogue could use style improving. Make the hue of background water texture watch the timephase. The current cyan water clashes too much with some of the timephases and it looks out of place. The Eurobricks logo needs to be about 8 pixels higher in each banner. Feel free to leave your feedback and bug reports in this thread. Also credit must be given to the following photographers who contributed minifigure photos - many thanks! dr_spock, WhiteFang, Sebeus I, Walter, kabel, Admiral Croissant, legolijntje, Brickington, Boomchil, Piratedave84, jamesn, Legonardo, Captain Settle, Zeya and absolutelylez. Plus Brickthing worked on some pirate themed Eurobricks logo flags which haven't made this version but may appear at some point in the future.

  20. Yep, we're still on the look out for more minifig photos and editors. The first version of the new Pirate Forum Skin is almost ready for launch! Almost!
  21. UPGRADE YOUR BROWSER!!! The new Pirate forum Skin will only display properly in recent browsers. The minimum versions are: Internet Explorer 9+ Firefox 16+ Google Chrome 16+ Otherwise there will be many display errors.
  22. In terms of Pirate LEGO Minifigure packs, tradition be damned! I'd rather have my demand met rather than acquiring umpteen captains which I don't really want...
