  1. Do we even consider these characters as part of the LEGO Pirates canon? They don't seem to have any correlation to the Pirate LEGO sets, it's like they belong in a completely different continuity.
  2. WHAT??? This was only a joke! But I love South America... That continent really deserves an AFOL website named after it!
  3. All the governors are wearing `em these days!

  4. So what about experimenting with artificial light or the flash? Regardless, if you just position the minifig to face the light they should be fine. As demonstrated in this example:
  5. Your non-Pirate example looks spot on, but some cheap camera examples are not too bad. Although it varies, what makes the difference is whether the minifig is facing towards the light or away. Still, I think they are passable, but I'd aim for the quality for your non-Pirate example. Here are some tests... If facing towards they look good: Facing away they look a bit washed out, but not too bad: Side by side comparison:
  6. What were the settings you used?
  7. As stated in the first post of this thread:
  8. The LEGO Pirates theme was set in the Caribbean which is in Central America, so this change helps to reflect the geography of the theme.
  9. This might be useful data to pass onto the LEGO Representatives via the Ambassador Program.
  10. These are great Piratedave84! Welcome aboard! Well, as soon as hidden forum access is granted.
  11. They're all slightly out of focus, but usable. Is possible you could read your camera's manual and learn how to focus a shot properly? It doesn't seem right all your photos are consistently slightly out of focus.
  12. That's a quite fine effort for a Smart Phone camera. I think these are passable!
  13. Methinks it's your display because the colours are quite saturated, anymore saturated and they'd be a distraction. I've asked the Eurobricks Staff and they seem to think the parchment is beige/tan, so I'd recommend viewing the images on a different monitor for comparison.
  14. I recommend you experiment as I have no idea what your camera is capable of. Good idea! You could also try different materials like baking paper or tracing paper.
  15. If you're using a Nikon D3000 (or any DSLR camera) you might just need to change the White Balance settings. To get even lighting on my sigfig, I used the flash as natural lighting wouldn't provide a neutral colour temperature without much fidgeting around with the camera's settings...
  16. Thanks for the feedback everyone! The actual graphics are PNG files Photographic heads have been used many years ago and look a bit out of place. But, there are four different heads in use, it's just this version of Invision Power Board hasn't been setup to assign different post icons for pinned, popular, locked topics. Otherwise I would have done it already. So the parchment textures in the below images aren't appearing as tan/beige for you?
  17. Brickington - you're just about there! You need to work on your centre of focus though, because the minifigs in both photos are slightly out of focus in some parts, but all things considered I think your latest efforts are passable. PirateDave84 - your photos are a bit yellow. Even adjusting the levels I couldn't make them fully neutral. What kind of camera are you using and what is your primary light source? Here are some tests
  18. It would be a start. You seem to have managed to achieve consistent lighting, although having not seen the feet that assessment might be premature.
  19. Your avatar is of suitable quality - did you take that photo yourself?
  20. Yes, your photos are good! Did you not receive my Private Message? It said you didn't need to audition because your previous submissions were of a high standard. We're just waiting upon you to accept the position and then you will be granted access to the hidden forum. If you are able to remove the backgrounds and post in transparent PNG then please do so.
  21. Should do the job nicely! I assume you're turning the flash off - is that correct?
  22. These might be passable. Won't know till they're tested. The lighting could be more consistent though, it seems to the top half is getting all the light while the bottom half is a bit dark. What kind of camera are you using?
  23. Demonstrate you can take some photos of the necessary standard, as demonstrated in this post.
  24. You can do both, just work to the strengths of what's available to you.
