  1. Could this concept somehow be translated into a LEGO set?
  2. A frigate all the way! My knowledge of MOC ships is fairly limited however.
  3. I like how they depict Eldorado Fortress as a small part of something much larger...
  4. Glad you could join us! I'll send word to the blogger team so they can eventually blog this wonderful creation.
  5. That would be an interesting name to be sure, but according to Wikipedia the real Don Antonio was a grandson of King Manuel I of Portugal. So maybe we should save him for when we eventually make a Portugese sub-theme. What ideas have you got?
  6. That's very promising! But unfortunately Crossbones has already been cancelled.
  7. Then quickly buld a MOC inspired by either of these television series and post it in this thread... But on a more serious note, let's infuse this topic with some LEGO discussion. Do these TV series actually provide any inspiration for LEGO Pirate MOCing? Are there any note worthy ships or locations?
  8. Exactly what's happening here?
  9. Mark of Falworth, this MOC is brilliant! I shall send word to our blog department so they can frontpage it on Classic-Pirates.com.
  10. Isn't Don Antonio a pizzeria? That aside, it's a nicely detailed MOC and maybe good inspiration for our own Merchants sub-theme.
  11. Isn't that TV series actually called "Crossbones"?
  12. We have no confirmation that the LEGO Group still has Pirates of the Caribbean franchise license, nor can we rely on the official release date for the fifth film because this is the second "official" release date Disney has announced.
  13. The 2x2 flag doesn't need to have the exact same design as the larger 6 x 4 flag. In the case of the Imperial Soldiers the 2x2 was simplified - although The Cook may have something to say about production costs in regards to having two different designs.
  14. Everyone can vote! Everyone with a Eurobricks account that is.
  15. It is indeed according to the official website. I shall amend the thread title.
  16. Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme DETERMINE THE HAVEN GUARD FLAG Those who wish to participate should first read the Design a NEW Pirate Sub-Theme Project Overview thread. Objective This is a poll to determine the most appropriate flag for the Haven Guard faction <- you may wish to read that thread for background information. What to do Visit our Flag Generator and experiment with different combinations of flag backgrounds and embelems. Copy & paste the BBcode which appears beneath the generated flag and post it in this thread. You may select upto three different flag combinations. For example: Provide additional comments or suggestions regarding the Haven Guard flag (also posted in this thread). Take time to consider the Merchants flag as it will be related to the final Haven Guard flag. We have already agreed the emblem on the Merchants flag should be the same as the emblem on the sail of the small vessel included with the Imperial Trading Post You may select this emblem for the Haven Guard flag or select an emblem you think will compliment it. What happens next? After the the poll closes we shall count the flag submissions and the flag combination with the most votes shall be selected as the Haven Guard flag. If two or more flag combinations receive an equal number of majority votes, another poll will be conducted to determine the most suitable of those combinations. Once the Haven Guard flag is selected another poll will be conducted to determine the Merchant's flag. If anyone would like to contribute vectorization skills, preferably in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, please post an expression of interest here. . Rules You may select upto three different flag combinations. If you wish to submit your a new flag design please do so in this thread. Past Flags Not fresh in your mind? Here's a reminder: Acknowledgements Flag Generator web application developed by Bob De Quatre Flag graphics designed by Capt. Wolf.
  17. If you can overlook the fact the LEGO Pirate ship released in 2009 was called "Brickbeard's Bounty"...
  18. We're going to see at least one new set early next year apparently. That's going to be the Brick Bounty Ship for which a naming contest was held a few months back. Although, given the movie's released date is now around 3 years away, there could be potential for more non-Pirates of the Caribbean sets during that time.
  19. Pirates of the Caribbean V There have been rumours of a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film ever since On Stranger Tides was released and now Disney has officially announced a release date. Whether the LEGO Group will continue to release sets under their licence for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise remains to be seen, but here's what Disney has announced so far: It will be released July 7, 2017. Source. Although the film has been pushed back from July 10, 2015, to 2016 to July 7, 2017 so that date may well be tenative. Previously Released Information (May no longer be accurate) The sub-title will be Dead Men Tell No Tales. Source Screen play by Jeff Nathanson Source Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Source Keith Richards will reprise his role as Captain Teague. Source Possible Plot Details: A new female lead and troublemaker for Captain Jack Sparrow who is suspected of witchcraft, but is actually a scientist; two new romantic leads from farming families; a ghost in a lead role, a former member of the British military who is now sided with Captain Barbossa on a revenge mission, which gives the film its title. The film also supposedly starts with an "awkward wedding" and concludes with "a riff on the myth of the Bermuda Triangle. Source The plot revolves around a search for "The Trident", which Richard's Teague holds valuable information to. Other details seem to confirm previous rumors: Christoph Waltz may play "Captain Brand", who wants the Trident so he can get his revenge on Jack, who Brand believes had turned his brother Eric into a pirate, which led to his death. 20. Last chance to contribute Haven Guard flag designs before we conduct a poll to determine the suitable flag! Check out our Flag Generator web app to see the range of designs submitted so far.
  21. I'd prefer limiting the Crossed Anchors insignia to the Merchants but I'm happy to take more opinions as I won't have time to create the poll until the weekend. Also, as humorous a touch the Hello Kitty logo is, we should perhaps remove in case some voters share this humour and actually use it. We'll need as many authentic votes as possible.
  22. Ah yeah, that certainly is a stretch. It seems unlikely a person of either nationality would draw the connection between the Haven Guard flag looking like a beach towel and their own flag. But someone from Israel or Thailand correct if I'm wrong! The Haven Guard flag was likened to a beach towel because of the wavy horizontal lines at the top and bottom - just because a flag has horizontal lines doesn't mean it looks like a beach towel! For example, Thailand's flag:
  23. Not unless someone submits them in the next couple of days. I'd like this poll ready by the weekend. I'm not following, how is that insulting to the people of Israel and Thaliand?
