  1. For simplicity they'll be equally weighted so the flag with the most votes wins.
  2. I'm thinking two polls... The first to select the Haven Guard flag, the second to select the Merchant flag. So using the Flag Generator voters will create and submit the three combinations they like most. Submitting three combinations should enable sufficient data to determine the most preferred flag. The second flag (I.e. the inverted Merchants flag) can be temporarily disabled on the generator.) Once the Haven Guard flag is determined, voters will once again use the Flag Generator to create and submit one Merchant flag combination. The selected Haven Guard flag can be displayed as comparison in the same location the second flag currently occupies in the generator.
  3. This is true but we won't know for sure until people start submitting flags... Anymore opinions on how this poll should be conducted? Read this post for potential shortcomings.
  4. People could then add the pictures of the flags or any comments. Yeah, that would be fine if we were going to get over 1,000 voters, but the reality is we'll get around 50 voters and there is 32 combinations for the Haven Guard flag and 8 for the Merchants. So my concern is the data yielded for the Haven Guard will be too broad, each flag combination may only get 1 or 2 votes. For example: if 20 different flag combinations receive 2 votes each then we'll have to find a method of narrowing down those 20 combinations. Might as well tightened up the poll to begin with.
  5. Do you have any thoughts on the calculations in this post? It's good to make the poll open as possible, but if it's too open we run the risk of not collecting useful data.
  6. What about "Two flags, two polls to vote in".
  7. This may indeed be the simplest method but my concern is people are going to get sick of poll after poll. Let's have a poll to determine if everyone has had enough of voting in polls!
  8. Ideally I'd like to open a voting thread in which everyone posts their favourite pair of images... However, I'm concerned there won't be sufficient voters given there's 32 combinations for the Haven Guard flag and 8 for the Merchants. So there's a total of 256 different flag pairs while realistically we'll get about 50 voters (if we're lucky). That's why I'd prefer to enforce the inverted background concept as it will restrict the number of voting options to 32. Even if we allow voters to choose three different pairs that's roughly a 3:5 ratio, I.e 150 votes to 256 options. And the more bloody flag pairs they post, the more blooding counting we have to do!
  9. Easier in terms of development, but the idea is to compare both flags side by side to ensure they compliment each other. It would be rather tedious for people to copy and paste the shortcode from the web app into the post editor, preview their post, then repeat until they find a pair of flags they liked. But you've done a fantastic job so I dare not ask anymore of you! But don't change anything just yet even if you want to do more - we still need to finalise voting.
  10. Since when do LEGO Pirates actually float? (not counting the 4+ 7075 Brickbeard's Ship) P.S. I incorporated the video into the first post.
  11. Although, it will be up to our chief developer to decide whether he wishes to implement that functionality. But since he's in support of having different flag backgrounds rather than inverted, it would probably serve him well.
  12. Good work again! Except you've got the crossed cannons instead of the Merchant's crossed anchors as the emblem. Maybe we need the ability to select the background for the Merchant's flag too, therefore add a second flag background column as it won't hurt to increase the layout's width to 1000px on desktop displays. Then nobody is forced into choosing a set background for the Merchant's flag.
  13. That's what we've been discussing, if you have a different idea please share...
  14. This is brilliant! You have done well sir! I have a couple of suggestions.. These are optional as you've already done plenty, but if you have a spare moment: Beneath the generated flag, have a second flag which always has the Merchants emblem but with the inverse background of the selected flag. This way a comparison between the two will be immediately visible. However, I notice an inverse design has not been provided for the horizontal and vertical striped flags. When are poll goes live, please use the below banner linking to the thread. White Orange White vertical striped flag:
  15. That's great! You'll probably do a much better job than I!
  16. That's a tricky one, what we really need is a web app that's lets us build the flag by choosing the background and flag at the same time, then being able to change either instantaneously. Problem is I don't have time to create one just at the moment. You're right, both Haven Guard and Merchant flags should be featured side by side in the poll to ensure they compliment each other. Only if that's necessary, we don't want to overload everyone with too many polls.
  17. It would probably work better if we determined inversions now, although it seems the majority is in support of this anyway. Excellent work! But perhaps we need the backgrounds separated from the designs so one particular design doesn't take advantage over the other. Does that seem a less bias way of going about it?
  18. It must soon be time to create a poll so we can determine which designs are most suitable... Any thoughts on the number of poll questions? I.e. Question 1: flag background - choice of saltire, vertical stripes, horizontal stripes or beach towel. Question 2: Haven Guard insignia - choice of crossed cannons solid black, crossed cannons black with white highlights, crossed cannons white with black whites or crossed muskets Or just have one question incorporating both elements? Plus are we pretty much settled the Merchant's Insignia should be that seen on the sail of the ship in 6277 Imperial Trading Post?
  19. Yes, I'm familiar with Paint. At some point we'll need to vectorize these designs so they're scalable and anti-aliased. Does anyone have experience using Adobe Illustrator?
  20. You're doing an excellent job with these designs, Capt Wolf! Which program are you using?
  21. I'd prefer a more direct inversion like this...
  22. You mean invert the orange and white like this? vs
  23. I'm thinking this as well. It makes more sense for the Merchants to have anchors and the Haven Guards to have muskets or cannons since they're the military faction. Also, the crossed anchors ties in the sail of the "cutter" from the Imperial Trading Post, so its a clever element of continuity.
  24. The horizontal stripes is almost a recolour of the Imperial Guard flag which is too similar in my opinion.
  25. Here's a quick overview of what's been suggested - note that similiar ideas have been merged and there has been slight category adjustment. Suggestions we don't have yet Merchants - Category 5 Haven Guard - Categories 2 & 7 Smugglers - Category 5
