  1. Bionicle sets designed by LEGO = totally suck or at best not so good. Bionicle creations designed by fans = mostly suck or at best good. Bionicle creations designed by very talented fans = totally rock! to almost perfection. I have been more and more impressed by bioncle creations lately. The fact is bionicle creations at first really were some pathetic little things but now with so many different pieces in so many colors you can't help but think they are cool. Then are those who mix technic or system or both with bionicle to create some of the coolest designs ever built. I am not saying I want to give up my system parts and begin collecting all the bionicle stuff but I have changed my mind about them. I mean check this out. This is freaking cool! I used to think bionicle was awful. Then I saw some usefulness in the mobility of some parts but now, I can't help but think bionicle rocks! There will always be people who can't create something cool in bionicle or in system but there are some fantastic creations out there in both. I think I will have to bust out my bionicle parts and build a moc soon. Anyway, what do you all think? Have any of you bionicle haters out there ever tried to build something with them? Anyone have an awesome MOC they want to show off?
  2. I think the original technic starwars sets did sell too poorly. It was easy to find C3PO, R2D2, pit droids, super battle droids and even Darth Vader sitting on the self at 50% off for monthes. I had the chance to buy all of them for at least 50% off myself but I just couldn't do it. They weren't useful enough for me. No minifigs, no bricks, just technic. I am sure those who display or collect SW would have and did get them but they just weren't that popular otherwise. I think a grevious would look very cool but again I wouldn't get one. I think they should use technic parts in model being built now. I would love to see a minifig scale at-st that uses technic parts in the legs for extra mobility and posability or even something more simple like landing gear in a ship. I am glad they haven't taken shelf space to make new SW technic. I would rather see new system sets with more jedi, aliens, and vehicles.
  3. Are you looking for light gray or dark. Plain heads I assume. Also classic and not bley right? What colors for "dresses" and do they need to be with or without the support tube? I am somewhat busy lately but I will have time next week if you want to arrange a trade. Let me know specifically what you are looking for. I am not too picky and will trade for anything that can be used for scifi/space stuff. Though I prefer castle figures even the KK2 nobody seems to like.
  4. Yeah! Go Minnesota Vikings! When do we get to hear about the actual trip details? Are there any pictures that should be posted in the humor section. I would like to see something funny from all of you who went.
  5. Failure series are very few for LEGO. I know Galidor totally bombed but few series were ever even close to that loss. Products that had a short life span didn't mean failure though. NINJA was only around for two seasons yet it is among the most successful and valuable series to own or to resell. I would say that the items that even when over 50% off still sit on the self are not very good. Failures not including Galidor Basketball, two for a dollar formerly $8 sets, practically can't give away these sets, nothing has ever been so poor. I hope they can pay for the license fees and break even. LEGO & sports is not a very good combination it seems like. Harry Potter, though it does well for a short time after the movie it tends to collect dust after a month or two. If you collect you get them right away. If you are a parent you get them as soon as they go on sale or at Christmas. I can't begin to explain how many of these sets I saw on clearance. Maybe it was just that year and the expected sales but it seemed like either they made too many of them (and the SW sets) or they just weren't that popular. I also know that TLG took a loss on HP (licensed sets in general) that year. Jack Stone, though it is a good idea it really is not needed. Mid-sized figures and sets for younger builders would be great but Duplo is fine for children up until 6 at the most and then System seems to be great until death! If another company had made these they might have done better but LEGO is already so versatile that they didn't need another step added. If these were not so overpriced then they may have done better. Though I don't think they are gone for good. The new pirate line proved they could be used in other ways and it is ultimately up to parents to decide if these are worth the money or not. I don't think we have seen the last of Jack or his ancestors so this theme has either too much merit or it has made enough money for LEGO to attempt to fine tune it. I don't count Znap as that was doomed from the start due to lack of advertising and promotions. Regardless of people opinions it seems that this last years sets were very nice. They were sold often and when they went to 30% off many of them wer sold out. 2005 was a very good year as far as sets go. I think 2004 wasn't as nice but it was decent. 2003 sets did poorly I think. Hopefully these new 2006 sets will do really well. We shall soon see.
  6. Okay here is the scoop. I need a few days to get the LEGO survey put together and polished up. Then I will post some rules and the deadline. If anyone has any other suggestions please post them. If anyone wishes to join the contest judges panel (no desire to make an entry or can not for whatever reason) please let me know. Lastly, should this be open to everyone or just those here at Eurobricks?
  7. That one is the easiest to find if you know who made it. It is found in the LotR folder by Jon Furman. If you look under the most popular folders it is the first one. His stuff is great. Some of the best out there. He is my MOC role model. And he is a nice guy to boot!
  8. Yes, is that too many or too few. I really don't see people making more than three or four anyway. It would be anything based. If you want to build a norse frost giant that would be okay. If you wanted to build a Japanese Capa turtle monster that would be fine also. One category is specifically for existing monsters such as godzilla, and he certainly isn't a viking! I will wait for more feedback and then post the official contest rules. I am thinking it will start August first. I will be spending some quality time here that day anyway so I will write up the final rules then. I will be out of town this weekend so I can't do it until later anyway.
  9. Not that I need mine bigger now but, I filled it three times today sending out PM's for people to take the revival survey. Can you increase a single members box or only groups. Either way I don't really have to have it bigger. It just would have been nice.
  10. Though it isn't "Viking" the hall at Edoras is very much in that style. Meduseld There really isn't much in LEGO. Check here for some info BBC-Vikings General info.
  11. I noticed that many of you haven't taken the LEGO Revival Survey. Please do so. August 1st is almost here. If you are a lurker, now is the time to delurk. We need everyones help. If you don't like someones answer than reply with a better one. Let nothing make you upset or bothered to keep you from replying. Thank you for your reply. Every answer counts. Every opinion matters. The LEGO revival survey.
  12. What does everyone else thing about a monster contest? Some preliminary rules. -must not be a modified official LEGO version of a monster -the monster must be somewhat realistic meaning it could be an alien but no laser weapons or anything to advanced -three categories with two prizes for each 1st and 2nd place entries and one grand prize for best of contest -cat. 1, scariest monster -cat. 2, most creative monster -cat. 3, best resemblance to an existing monster, frankenstein, godzilla, alien, shelob, Phes (joking! :-D ) -each entry will need a short description or story about the monster -people can enter each category twice, and are able to claim a total of two of the six prizes available -all entries must be either new or never entered in a contest before -all entries must be completed by September 3rd, 2005 -I will appoint a commity to vote on the monsters Prizes will range from a custom set made by me to a $20 set for the grand prize. This is just a rough draft. What does everyone think? Any suggestions, comments?
  13. Hmm. Pay off my house. Buy a new Camry. Go to school to be a teacher. Buy some land. Save the rest. If I was feeling ambitious I would build a plastic molding facility to make miniatures for board games. I might also buy an old building and renovate it into a community education building that would offer low cost or free classes. I could turn it into orphanage or halfway house for troubled teens.
  14. I can make on later in August after I deliver the survey results to Jake. What are people thinking would be fun, movie themed, sci fi, or maybe official set alternate models? I have more than enough LEGO to come up with a prize or 12.
  15. I couldn't care less what the plan in regards to making. The must have at least some of the parts I want. If they open it up to everything currently stockpiled that will be enough for me.
  16. I am relaxed, I don't get overly hyper often. I just like to sing and make up the words. ;)
  17. Behold I am the Mighty Battle Revival! Wait just a second, does that even make sense? *wacko* How can I be a . . . well no matter. I am what I am and that is all I can be unless I change or be something else. Yeah! *glasses* |-D *sing* MIGHTeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! *sing* BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAttle! *sing* Re re re re re revival! (in dj record skipping style) Let me here your battle cry! *sing* Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! Revival people in the house say 'whoop whoop!'
  18. He isn't carrying a light saber but a magical silver sword hilt. It has a green jewel on the other end though it is very hard to see in the picture and it spouts a flame that acts as a sword. Similar to a lightsabre I guess but not quite the same. I haven't decided what effect the flame should cause if it were to actually cut something. I am somewhat of a fantasy geek but only a little. ;) Hey I figure if it my imagination why not. George Lucas has fielded an army of Star Wars geeks with imaginary weapons and powers, so, I think I should be able to have a flame sword! :oD I actually have four of them. One for each of the KK2 knights, orange/red, green, blue and purple flame swords with huge jewels on the end. They look nice that way. If it were less busy it would be a stage drama fight. I made it a war! :^D :^D :^D :^D :^D
  19. Vikings vs knights. A new series to combine the two themes. Sets $2-30pcs. Viking scout, small dragon shape boat with 1 viking outfitted with shield and a classic sword $3-50pcs. Guardian Raft, small raft (6x6) with a sail, one castle oarsman (with weapons set aside), one castle archer $4-20pcs. Duel, one viking with double bladed axe and shield, one armored soldier with two classic swords $5-100pcs. Defense tower, small wooden tower with two archers, a covered barrel, and a target for practice $7-40pcs. Minifigure pack, viking with sword and shield, armored viking with double bladed axe, viking with spear and shield, castle swordman with shield, castle archer, peasant with chicken leg and apple $10-150pcs. Dragonfly, long shallow riding boat with dragon prow and stern, four viking oarsmen (with shields on side of boat and swords on a rack) and one armored viking captain with long bannered war maul $15-200pcs. Tournament Ring, a 12x12 wooden fencelike ring with a gate, two peasants with food, one viking with spear, one castleman with sword, one viking with no shirt and a large beard with a wooden sword (brown) one castleman with wooden sword (brown) $20-210pcs. Seige Machine, one large machine with a swinging ram in the middle, missle thing on top, two mini catapults on the side, and spear sticking out in a semi-circle, two vikings to push, one equipped captain to ride on top and one viking maiden on horse with a spear $30-350pcs. Camp feast, two viking tents, one viking chieftain with black war paint on and a long beard, two viking axemen, one viking princess with spear, campfire with a boar on a spit (would require a new boar mold) a treasure chest full of jewels, a small hand cart, a small cage with a castlman inside $50-450pcs. Seaside Tower, a tower built next to the water with a small lighthouse beacon on top, comes with three castle swordmen one castle archer, a castle captain, a female peasant with broom, a horse with barding and a small viking boat with one viking axeman $100-700pcs. Grand Castle, a castle the size of 6080, one royal prince with gold armor and weapons, two fully armored knights on horse back with plenty of weapons, one caslte swordman, three castle archer, two viking swordsmen with a portable ram, one viking captain with armor and an axe, two Valkyrie on horses with white armor and wings instead of horns Of course you couldn't have all of these but out of the eleven you could have 7 or so. I would really like some more variety in the viking figures. Valkyrie maidens, white and gold armor, new double braided beards, brown swords, a new boar mold, more food, more seiging and looting, lots of minifigures! If all 11 sets were made that would be $246 with 2300pcs., 46 minifigs, 6 horses and tons of goodies! That would be nice. *wub*
  20. Hey phes do you have any skill with making a LEGOesque background. If you do I would like to see a picture with one. The folder is moderated, take a look and see if you can doctor one of them up for me.
  21. Bloody Jay, you are greedy aren't you? ;) You already have a sizable Viking army with 20+ fully equipped figures and sets to start a village. Can't you share a little of the wealth? :-D
  22. Aaaaaugh! Look at all those shields. :oo I would like to trade with you for some of those. Do you have anything else "castley" to trade also? :oD Those look great! Anyone going to the event please keep an eye out for things I would like too. I am willing to pay you for your trouble or to trade things I already have. I have about $100 I can spend for this month. If you see some of these things get them for me would you? Things I am looking for -books (like harry potter but plain), any color -kk2 swords, metallic colors -viking axes -speckled chrome armor/helmets -plain Euro (knight) armor, black, baby blue, green -violet or chrome silver spears -any castle minifigs. -big castle or belville doors, any color
  23. Man, that stupid part sells for $5 or more on bricklink. I can't believe people would pay so much for it. Well, I suppose that all the minifigs will be like $4 each and all the best rare parts will dissapear in just a few days. *devil* Oh, well. Something more for bricklink sellers to rob us with. *devil* *devil* *devil* Maybe I should go buy up all of a certain part and then only offer to trade it for the other rare parts people buy up. :oD No, that will never work I don't have that kind of money. Besides that would be cruel to all of the rest of Eurobricks. I passed the trial, I shall go into the west and remain Nospecialbrickial. Maybe they will have some nice parts I can buy anyway. Excellent news anyway Ras. $2 for that piece with shipping included seems like a fair deal.
  24. Do you mean this? That is no great price $2 or $3. Not that I looked up what it cost on bricklink or anything but I would not want to pay those types of prices for just one part unless it was a really great part. I wonder what types of cost simple parts will have. Will the color make a difference or is it all based on weight? What a dilema. So many questions. I guess we wil have to wait and see what LEGO does with this.
  25. 1. The Lord of the Rings (all special additions together) 2. The Adventures of Robin Hood 3. Star Wars (4,5,6 together) 4. The Court Jester 5. Fantasia
