  1. Sure, I like the Narnia stories. You can find lots of info on the web but for those who are lazy or just want a quick overview I will list one out for you. The Magician's Nephew- two children are tricked by a relative to use magical rings. The end up in a forest of portals between the different worlds. The enter a desolate wasted palace and awaken a terrible queen. They escape but end up taking the queen with them all the way back to London. She causes a disturbance and the two children, the uncle, the queen (who is a witch), a cabby and his horse all end up in Narnia at it's creation. The boy gets an apple and plants a tree to protect Narnia from the witch, he also bring one home for his sick mother who after eating it recovers. The core is planted in their back yard. The tree is later cut down and made into the wardrobe from the first book. This book was written sixth, is first in the timeline. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe- four children at a secluded home in the country to avoid the bomb raids find there way into a magical country called Narnia. They overcome some obstacles, defeat the white witch and become kings and queens. They grow and rule for many years in what is called the golden age in Narnia, go hunting for the white stag and find there way back to London which returns them to their proper ages. This is the first book written, second in the timeline. The Horse and His Boy- an adopted boy in Calormen (world of Narnia) and a talking horse form a plan to escape to Narnia. They meet a girl and her talking horse and join them. The boy gets separated and gets mistaken for another boy. The four get rejoined and travel to Archenland in time to warn of a Calormen prince who is coming to kill and steal away a Narnia princess. Narnia and Archenland are warned in time and the boy discovers who he really is. This is the fourth book written, third in the timeline. Prince Caspian- a boy (prince Caspian) whose royal family has been killed joins with the hidden "rebel" army of Narnia. He blows a horn and summons the four children from earth (one year after they returned) back into Narnia. They travel with a dwarf guide to meet the boy. A battle insues and Narnia is restored. The boy is made king and the oldest two children are told they won't ever return to Narnia. This is the second book written, fouth in the timeline. Voyage of the Dawn Treader- King Caspian has made all right in Narnia and has now set out to sea to find the seven Lords his uncle had sent away. The younger two children and their cousin get into Narnia through a picture and join the ships crew. They have many adventures on the high seas and small islands. They discover all seven lords or their fates and sail to the very end of the world. The two children are told they will never come to Narnia again. Their cousin will. This is the third book written, fifth in the timeline. The Silver Chair- the cousin of the four and a friend of his from school are chased by bullies and find themselves in Narnia, sort of. They end up in Narnia and must follow signs Aslan has given them to find a lost prince. They meet a guide and travel to the home of the northern giants. They fail on almost all the signs and end up getting caputred and taken to the underground layer of a witch. They defeat the witch, find the prince, and Narnia is saved and restored. This is the fifth book written, sixth in the timeline. The Last Battle- a deceptive ape begins trading with the vile calormen. They use the opportunity to attack Narnia and to gain new slaves. The young king and his unicorn are rescued by the children in "The Silver Chair" and together they uncover the decptions. It is too late by that time and the small Narnia army must fight for survival. The battle ends, the world ends and the "real" Narnia is found. They all live happily ever after. This is the seventh book written, seventh in the timeline. Remember these are childrens stories and somewhat simple in plot. Yet, for being so simple they are enjoyable to read and full of imagination and wonderful story telling. Read them if you haven't I don't you will be dissapointed.
  2. I was thinking along the lines of the forestman series for Narnia. At least for the first one. So much of the story is in the woods or takes place in outdoors settings. For the second, it is again more so in the woods as they have a very important place it the story. For the third it would be based on a ship and several small islands. It would involve sailing around ocean, escaping from pirates, finding treasure and seeing magical things. Which of course is reason enough for Phes to dislike the idea of a Narnia lisence for Lego. ;) We don't know what we missed is my point. I think that Lego would have made awesome sets. I hope MegaBoks sets flop but what if they don't? I want Lego to make an actual fantasy series. Not wizzards and skeleton warriors or rainbow knights but fantasy.
  3. Well, MegaBloks has gotten the liscense to make Narnia sets for the new movie(s). I know many of you dislike movie tie-ins but we will never know what great parts this could have produced. Pros -no "flesh tone" figures -no expensive lisences -no conflict with Harry Potter sets Cons -no cool fauns, centaurs, dryads or other cool beasts -no cool witch's castle -no evil beasts, minotaurs and such Well my hope is that TLG will make a Greek mythology theme with all those goodies. I still don't understand why the prices for non-lisence sets is still higher than those with. The new Harry Potter sets are all less expensive than the new KK2 sets. That doesn't make sense to me. Either way I won't buy Mega garbage. Not the army sets, marvel sets, pyrates sets, dragons sets or any other stupid low quality junk.
  4. No, I got them in excellent condition with instructions (no boxes) from a second hand sale at a school. I did notice while in Rothenburg that they had sets from pre 2000 still. Nothing exciting though. The prices were quite high as well. I think small towns would be the best place to find older sets though.
  5. Recently I have gotten some decent deals on Lego. Target had a copy of this for $24 Kmart had three of these for $13 each When in Germany I got sets sweeper, diver, and raft all for 8 euro. If you are in the states I recommend you look at least at Kmart as they have 40-50% of 10 or so sets right now. Might be worth your time. If you are in the Berlin-Spandau area you might find some decent deals at a toy store near the train station. They had the new 50 Euro house at 34 Euro I believe. I can't recall the name of it though. It is on the second floor of a building. If you leave the station and walk to the right to the next street and then turn right and walk for 100 meters or so you should see it. It also had some other sets half off. If you are close by it might be worth a look. Anyway, I will have to wait until later this month to see if I can find anything else. And remember, if you pay full price, you pay too much! -SuvieD
  6. Yes, welcome to the ever increasing, best of the best of the best of the best, okay so I am getting carried away. It is nice here at Eurobricks. I am sure you will enjoy yourself.
  7. Do you mean we can tell you our opinions on LEGO sets or whatnot and you will (if appropriate) bring it to your group and let people like Jake know the concerns of those here on Eurobricks? By the way welcome to the boards.
  8. Hey now Ed, what is this? You move in like a vulture and snatch away my chance to even make an offer on any of this. You dirty crook! I should have never brought a scoundrel like you to Eurobricks! ;) (in my best Lando impression) Well at least now I know what you have to trade with if I find more pirate stuff. I have to admit you are quick to find and make a deal. I hope Jonfett raked you over the coals :^D :^D :^D ;) Congrats!
  9. My favorite set is the wolf. I think LEGO did a great job designing a nice looking super posable wolf. The set also has the viking warrior in plain black armor which I think is very cool indeed. :oD The double ship isn't all that great and I never really liked the mini-dragon. :( I would get one for parts but it isn't that exciting. The seige cart is decent and the dragon that comes with it looks pretty good. This set is quite nice. :) I can't say I am a huge fan of the longboat until I can see it in person. It looks very nice but I want to see the set more up close before I decide it's value. I do wish it came with more Vikings but perhaps the sea monster ate them already. :^D :-D The viking fortress is awesome. :oD The pieces used to make it are excellent the dragon is nice and it has the most accesories of any of the sets. Even though I can't see the detail on this, I know I will get this one for sure. Overall, I like the Viking sets. ;) I wish the price points would stay on the lower end but it is LEGO and so they never do. :'( Excellent find. I think I will still get more KK2 than Viking because it is an actual castle series. Castle is where my heart lies. *wub* *wub* *wub*
  10. Phes seriously, have you seen any of the 4+ pirates in person? You judge them from a picture. I own almost every set in the 4+ line and I think they are great. The only real downfall to them is the size/juniorization of some of them. The sets themselves are full of useful and piratey parts. :) I would personally prefer a minifig scale pirate series with a nifty little pirate cove for storing all my loot but something is better than nothing. :/ I will build something this week with the new hull and some other parts. I will then take pictures to back up my claim of worth for the 4+ line. I will not use the jumbo figures as they are for playing with when friends bring their children over. I really can't stand Jack Stone sized figures. Give me until Monday for pictures and I will prove to the best of my ability that 4+ is worth getting. If you are not convinced after that then I will regard your opinion as a more valuable fact based one. With a yo ho ho and a bottle of cream soda! *sing*
  11. My Tru in Duluth, MN had four sets out also. Though I think it is sort of against policy to put them out before LEGO's official release dates. ;) Still, I picked up the smallest one and I have to say that I like the small KK2 from last year better. I like the newer colors dark red, the new silver, the dark tan parts on Santis (red knight) but the catapult thing looks clunky. It does fire nicely though. I will wait until there are some sales before I buy any of the more expensive sets. I still am waiting for year one sets to go on clearance. :/
  12. Nintendo entertainment systems, both console and portable, are always about games. People who enjoy playing games have always enjoyed the big N. Other companies copy the success. Really without Nintendo games would not be what they are today. Nintendo is the backbone of non-PC gaming. Revolution will no doubt be the best of the next-Gen systems. Not because of huge amounts of unneeded memory space or large amounts of completely worthless copy cat games but because the games and series they have are wonderful. The new Nintendo system will have all the needed systems specs and power to run great new powerful games. The games themselves will be fun and great for parties. Why anyone would spend so much on mindless rehash games for copycat systems is beyond me. Nintedo fan boy SuvieD Now if Lego would only do Nintendo liscence tie ins. Oh lovely thought.
  13. Hallo! Just wanted to take a moment and say hi to everyone here out Eurobricks while I am in Germany. I hope you are all having fun as I know I am. It is great here. Well some places are great here others are well difficult to get around. My favorite so far is Rothenburg. Excellent vacation spot. If you like historical walled cities and German culture. Have a great time where ever you are. Talk with you all in a week or so. -SuvieD |-D
  14. Aaugh! :^D Playstation is not cool! It has always been a lesser son of greater fathers. Look at all the facts before even considering one of these. I will wait for all three to come out before I make my final choice but my thoughts lean strongly toward one system. I have never been impressed by play station. The original and PS2 both had awful loading times and required so many expensive accessories I refused to get them. Xbox is merely a wannabe playstation with games that are copies. Both of these systems cost money to play online and both have those silly dual analog controllers (ick). Look at the top 100 games of all time for all systems and you will quickly see that the best games all are on one system. The big N. It will beat or match the current processing or graphic technology as it always has. It will be dvd compatible and will have built in WiFi that is most likely going to be entirely free. It has the most innovative and memorable games. It is going to push the envelope by making changes to the way games are played where as the other systems never do until Nintendo makes it popular. Nintendo is for gamers. Xbox and PS2 are for making tons people pay tons of money to play the same stupid rehashed game (Halo2) with four new changes. I will give them one thing, they sure now how to advertise and get people to buy shallow or stupid games. Seriously, how many games can you go back and play on either system that are over a year old? I have played all the current systems. I bought the cube. Why you ask? It has better graphics, faster/no loading times, nicer controller, can play fun four player games without extra tvs or special adapters, has innovative games, has the best games (Metroid Prime, SSBM, Zelda, Paper Mario, RE4), and has always been about making new and better GAMES not media centers. It will take a large surprise from PS3 or XBox360, or a huge dissapointment from Nintendo to make me change my mind as to what I would buy. Though I think Nintendo will be the better more affordable nextGen system. I think it will have a lower initial cost, free WiFi internet play, and awesome "must play" games which the other systems won't have any of. That means more Lego for me. Long live Nintendo, king of consoles.
  15. The Po Box listed is the same exact one on the bottom of the website Bloody Jay listed earlier. http://www.solvangusa.com/ Solvang Conference & Visitors Bureau PO Box 70 93464 (800) 468-6765 The website must contain some clue. The cell phone number is still unclear. Backwards it is Lego set 4756 Shrieking Shack which would clearly indicate Wolf as the acompliss. Or perhaps it is someone else. Why would Jay be traveling to Solvang? What conference could be happening there that would benefit him. Have we checked the bodies to be sure they are deceased? Who on the train has a cell phone? Who can think straight anymore?
  16. The "Holy Grail" for castle is 375 MISB. Though many people feel that this set in any decent condition is valuable. Some other castle sets do sell for more but this one is more difficult to find in good condition as Lego sets were not nearly as much of a collectable thing as they are now. Most children played with there Yellow castles until the became worn and the fragile accessories busted or warped. :'( My guess for the other castle set is the 6071. The forestman theme is beloved by almost everyone reguardless of theme preference. That and Ed loves the little green wearing fellows! ;) Other than that I can't really think. I am leaving for Germany in less than 48 hours now and have more than enough going on in my mind. Long live the Lego castle theme. Long live the castle Lego minifigures. Short live the other castle collectors. :^D :P ;) Congrats on scoring some sweet caslte stuff either way Ed. -SuvieD
  17. I didn't know all of you were so into fashion. :P I myself only have two ties. A silver one and a shiny blue one. :-D Do any of you have designer ties or just the boring retail ones? ;) Someone said something earlier about Lego ties, I bet those would look nice with a black suit and a hat of some kind. :) Can I be a part of the "tie" army with my two ties? |-D This thread is quite funny. Have you actually acomplished anything yet or are you still completely running in circles trying to find someone who is secretly having tea with Orlego right now?
  18. I like it. I think it would like a little nicer if you added a small amount of variety in color. Perhaps a racing stripe or special colored weapons. You could also use more black parts to make it not so all gray. What does the pilot look like?
  19. Brickster never answered my previous question. I think the fact that he is a bounty hunter by the name of Paladin and the California PO Box are linked. Have Gun Will Travel is an old radio drama about the American west. It is set mostly in California. It has large amounts of Spanish content as California has had for years. Perhaps the shows were numbered and this could be a clue. Who else on this train has a cell phone? I think because we found dead Blackbeard later and heard no noise that one of the bullets was used on him before Phes. Phes was also shot which acounts for the two bullets missing when the gun was recovered. Since then two more bullets have been used on Rosa and Athos with the stolen gun. Which leaves us two bullets left. Please may I see the phone. I am not a murderer as you all can tell. I would like to use the redial button on the phone and make a phone call to the number listed.
  20. I had heard originally it was going to be $150. Not that $10 is that much different. I am still not sold on getting one myself. We will see though.
  21. Yes, have a happy birthday. I hope you get all the Lego your heart desires!
  22. I went other. If Lego makes sets based on movies I really want to see a Narnia series. I was going to vote LOTR but I don't want Lego to make sets based of the movie but rather make sets based in imagination with characters from the books instead. Which is also what I would like to see them do with Narnia also. Though a movie based series will be quite good for either if they won't go with books. SuvieD
  23. I went 6071. If I had a choice between any of them to own I would have picked 6066. I have always liked 6071 though. It makes me think of that catalog I spent hours wishfully thinking about all the sets I would want. That and it is built on a blue (water) baseplate. Like the wolfpack tower, sets built over water have a specialness to them.
  24. Brickster can you explain to use why Blackbeard had the PO Box for California, your gun is missing and you carry cards for "Have Gun Will Travel"(an old radio show in the US with the main character named Paladin who was a hired gun from California) ? Is there something you are not telling us? Did he hire you? Is it possible that a former friend of yours is out for revenge and what better way to do so than to frame you for murder? I will whip out my laptop and do a little searching on the old show. Maybe something will turn up. I do remember that the show had a strong Spanish influence to it. Might be worth checking into.
  25. Perhaps the killer is not on the train as Snefroe said could it be that another guest is on board? Though the brickster's response to Bloody Jay's request made him quite nervous. Is it because he is hiding something in that suitcase or is it the he fears bloody jay is the killer and doesn't want to be alone with him? It was odd that he new all the words to that song. Yet I can't help but feel someone else is involved or is the killer.
