I have looked into it (Just now - sorry for the delay), but can't seem to figure out why nothing registers. I will dig a little more, and see if I can figure it out. If not, we will have to make some sort of suitable compensation.

This is exactly what the naval licensing and prize court is. And we should not start revising the levels now. We should definitely look at clarifying them, as apparently, they are prone to misunderstanding. I will say again, though, that the archetypes are the "standard" to measure against.

This is a discussion for the court. But everything* is possible! ;)

She is a single decked vessel. Now three members of leadership (@Kwatchi, @Legostone, and myself) have given their informed opinion that she is a class 6, and referred you to examples and to the rules, and I ask you kindly to adhere to that. If you want to contest it, please bring it up with the Naval Licensing and Prize Court.

A fine frigate, @LM71Blackbird . You have trimmed up both rigging and hull a bit, and I like how you have made quarterdeck railings transition into the lower hull. Can we get a close up of the crowsnests? A few, hopefully useful, suggestions: I would have loved to see a few more pictures. Here is only one, and in a rather small scale, so it is hard to make out details. Bigger pictures (800x600 are the eurobricks guidelines, I believe) and from different angles and of different details would be nice. Look up some ship plans or pictures of old ships to get a closer idea of details, lines, etc. for some more fine tuning. Try to build in more of a sheer (hull curve) and tumblehome in your next vessel. Your current ship is a bit too "straightlined" for my taste Work a bit with beakhead and headrails, as it gives more life to the bow Your courses (lower sails) should have no lower yardarm, and fly with their lower edge about minifig head-height. Generally, I am very impressed with your brick built sails, but a few tweaks would make them stand out better :) Differentiation - I would like to see you try to move a bit away from your current "style". It is fine to have your own recognisable style, but I feel like your ships would benefit by standing out more. Right now, some of them looks almost like versions of the same design. All in all a very nice frigate, though. The guidelines in the rules are clear: Class 6: 4 mid sections for multiple decks, 5 for single decked vessels Class 7: 5 for Ships of the line or galleons, 6 for heavy frigates Further, looking at the archetypes, Reaper's Bounty does not compare to the class 7 Margot, but quite well to the class 6 - Alejandro de Vargas. In short, she is a class 6. For everyone's sake, we do not want class creep. If you are not happy with what LM71 delivered, you may sort that out between you. I am certain he can find other buyers for such a fine frigate, should the WTC not want to keep her, or will be willing to offer a discount or similar.

[AMRCA RSND] The Grand Expedition - Part I
Bregir replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice effects on the microfleet and lovely little island build. -
I am hoping for a happier outcome for mine, though! (And I think the rover will be less ambitious with its projects, though... ) Thanks! :) It was fun to try to get a nice hullshape at this scale, and I like these colours too. I feel like black string might have disappeared in the dark coloured hull, though. (Aaaaand, I had a bit of white string lying around.... ;) ) I fear I do not know the reference here :) Thanks. Hmm, I can try to see what I can do. I find that the technic bushing tied to one end of a string, with the other end of the loop secured by the short axle, is a good solution, as it allows me to tighten each string in turn. (And adjust later) Each side of shrouds consist of just one continuous piece of string. I don't know if the picture below helps in any way. And maybe I am not explaining the part you are really interested in... :P Thank you! And the captain is "the Gentleman Privateer", so those ties represent fenders to make the process of running up alongside the enemy a smooth and painless experience! ;) Thanks - so do I! ;) Thanks Bodi - I quite like workign at different scales - and a vessel like this can be a one day job, unlike a ship of the line, or so... ;)

A floating battery, to be exact ;) I should hope so! :) I cannot really take the credit for the "invention" - I saw this at the danish war museum (Tøjhusmuseet) in an exhibition about the battle of Copenhagen. It is quite hard to find source material, but I found a few pictures. And those are not barrels - just 2x2 round bricks. :D Perhaps some pirates will give it a try? :P Thanks - and feel free to do so. Thank you sir - and it will be interesting to see someone's take on it. As I said above, it is a bit hard to find sources on this, but searching for floating battery battle for copenhagen or similar should yield a little. The best I found was this: A very dangerous chocolate cake, I would say! :P And I agree - I enjoy sometimes building something out of the ordinary, exploring something different. (And sometimes saving a bit on the rigging... ;) ) Thanks, Elos. Happy to hear!

Thank you - It is not exactly my favourite vessel, but I like it for the purpose it is meant for. And the ketch rig was fun to try. I think I will just let Roadmonkey's answer to this stand ;) Yes, I agree, the bow isn't exactly the most elegant. And thanks :)

I will get to it. Sorry for the delay.

In King's Harbour, word has been going around about Olean and Eslandian expeditions to Terraversa, and many are asking if not Corrington should follow suit. Some claim to have heard a "Mr. Barlow" in a tavern somewhere bragging about being in charge of such an expedition. While this may not be true, there is some truth to a diplomatic mission underway, and in preparation, the official yacht, the Amiable is undergoing trials in the bay. More elaborately decorated than most Corlander vessels, this ketch-rigged pleasure yacht houses a large cabin aft to convey any dignitary in style and comfort. However, it is no warship and must rely on escorts and speed to avoid any enemies, as it is entirely unarmed. _________________________________________________________________________ And unarmed pleasure yacht build for an upcoming mission for Corrington. I believe she is a class 4, being slightly longer, but of a slighter build than the Ironsides. C&C welcome.

The Rover privateer The Rover privateer has recently arrived to Terra Nova, its origin unknown. Its commander is known only as "The Gentleman Privateer", and easily recognisable by his bowler and rapier. The only hint as to his origins is his distinct high-class Corlander accent and his noble manners. The cutter itself is swift and manoeuvrable, and well suited to snap up unsuspecting merchant shipping in the rich sea lanes of Terra Nova. It is manned by a hardened crew of buccaneers, and armed with 6 heavy carronades, and will be a match for most smaller traders, while being able to outrun most patrolling warships. Only time will show what mischief the Gentleman Privateer and his bunch of Buccaneers is up to. ______________________________________________ Thanks for watching - this was a fun little build I made for the quick start guide, and I figured it was worth trying out the black flag mechanics. C&C is as always welcome - more pictures can be found in my flickr. :)

[SR-FB2] - Oct ' 618 - Change of Scene
Bregir replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Could it be? Would it be? Tension is certainly rising! And a very nice build too - the bed is excellent, and I absolutely agree with Roadmonkey that the different angles shown by moving the walls is ingenious! I might... erhm... steal... I mean borrow, of course, that technique at some point... -
Excellent work! I love the liveliness of the scene and the funny twist! :D For the future, you can make the pictures a bit larger. I believe eurobricks policy is 800x600. Also, congratz on your first property. Remember that you have one free small property as a new player :)
-
@Roadmonkeytj Your request is granted. You need to make an upgrade build, which is any build explaining the update, and it does not need to include the vessel. It could be a scene of ballast being taken out, additional guns being purchased, or someone bragging in a tavern that changing the rake of her mast has given her extra agility. (Or any other such thing you can imagine.) Once this is in place, please send the new stats in a pm to one of the court members and @Legostone, who will then make the change. @Kwatchi: The transfer has now been done.

@LM71Blackbird We have the weather gauge The commander of Lightning successfully surprised a 3-ship black-flag fleet, sinking Morning Fog before escaping and living to tell the tale. +2 maneuver Applied to the Lightning, Non-transferable @Capt Wolf Those will sell nicely in our next port. The captain of the Far Horizon has developed connections for selling cargo at premium prices. +1 to cargo Applied to Far Horizon, Transferable

I am fairly certain he can do everything, including licensing vessels and properties, and as soon as the account is created, it will be assigned correctly. :) Perhaps @Legostone can confirm?
-
Dear Sir, Your prize has been sold at the auction for 100 dbs (50 % of 200) and the amount will be transferred to your account presently. Regards The Black Markets of Guelph OOC: @Kwatchi: Please confirm that the Yellow Skull Fleet is flying the black flag.

Has the winner been established? Then we will consider it. :)

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Bregir replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
1) It is a bit small for a license, but if you give it a setting (suggested size for a small property is 16x16), and it's own topic, I think it is fine. (The road will do very well, BTW) 2) Exactly so. 3) Artisan, I think, but could be both. When in doubt ask or use creative license. Anything else :) -

It will be interesting to follow the exploits of Oilskin Johnny on the Brick Seas! I love the backstory and the concept of the "front" for more devious characters/organisations. Looking forward to having you around - feel free to ask if there are any questions. There are a few guides around here: Overview Quick startguide (which I really need to get finished...) And everyone is normally very friendly, if you have questions or need some aid in getting started. :) Welcome! -
@Bodi The work of a master Le Fougueux is the pride of the Eltina master shipwright, who has put all his abilities into the design to great effect. Serial: #xxx Bonus: +1 to manoeuvre +1 to hull Non-transferable, locked to Le Fougueux @Legostone Will you take care of the paperwork? (If the ship has been licensed?)

Indeed.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Have they gone silent? Has the Queen absconded with a secret lover? What is *REALLY* happening in Corrington? Well... I really have no clue, but in King's Harbour an oddity of a vessel has been launched. Gun barge no. 1, to be exact, a port defence platform of experimental design.
