  1. @Mesabi It was only a short trip back to Kemblarsi, and to everyone's surprise, all three vessels made it there without being intercepted by Kemblar warships. Perhaps the rumours were true, and Kemblar had next to no fleet? At any rate, none had been spotted, despite the ruckus stirred up in by the rescue mission. Reaching the capital, the count and the princess were greeted as national heroes. Her for her safe return to her people, and the expedition for its heroic rescue. The Kemblar who had assisted the count did express a certain dissatisfaction with the placement of gratitude, but the way the count had told the story, he had himself done most of the heroics! There were celebrations for days, were they were treated like gods, eating, drinking and partying like there was no tomorrow. The Kemblar were keen to reward their rescuers and offered the adventurers 500 dbs (added to adventure treasury) worth of golden coins and trinkets, as well as the captured junk (Class 3, R3 M3 F0 C1 $5 H3). But what was next for the count? This is a unique opportunity for further ventures! Stay and establish a permanent presence in Kemblar for the WTC or for Corrington? Show what the expedition does to solidify relations or capitalise on the current positive attitude towards them as heroes. Now is the time to head for new hunting grounds! Continue our search for new adventures! Show where the expedition goes next - and what they will try to do when they arrive. We must bring word back to Corrington! Show the expedition making its way back home. This will leave all three ships in a zone of you choice in any of the zones 1 to 8, and end the adventure. One build required to continue. Only one option can be taken.
  2. Suggestion? Keep it? Remove it? Make it a one time multiplier (any given number of player builds are multiplied by some factor. Then there is no growth, unless player driven, but there is a representation of "all the other things" happening?
  3. @Drunknok, @LM71Blackbird, @Ayrlego, @Spud The Viking The Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery To the South West of the Island known as Maldria, the squadron look-outs called: "Sail ho, sharp on the starboard bow!" and after a moment: "5 vessels, ships of war, standing south, flying... Lotii colours?" Epper II. was adamant this was not to delay the expedition and gave orders to avoid the Lotii. To progress, make a microbuild of the Lotii fleet as seen in the distance. The expedition pressed on, and after days of rough sailing, the tall jungle-topped cliff sides of a rocky island fitting the position of island 7 was reported by the look-outs. Chart the reefs Off the north point of the island, breakers can be seen, which indicates reefs dangerous for navigation. Show the expedition boats charting the reefs. Explore the caves On the western side of the island a series of large caves open up to the sea, some of them navigable by small vessels. Show the expedition exploring the caves. Go for the plateau up top In the small bay on the southern end of the Eastern coast there seems to be a path to the top. We need to investigate if the island is habitable. Show the expedition making its way to the top and starting to explore the plateau. One build (the micro) is required to make it to island 7, where one of the options can be selected.
  4. Yes - I figured they would look like heavy planking and give a nice texture to a hull :) Thanks - and actually, it is 14 plus a chaser (if I remember correctly) ;) She is planned as a 28/30 gun (on maindeck) frigate, but the scale will mean she is actually bigger (although not taller) than the two decker I have in the works. I just received a large Bricklink order, and she should start progressing again. (I did not have near enough black plates, dark red masonry bricks, etc.) In prefabs, she is more than 9 long, so I think we might need to revise the pre fab guidelines for the larger classes. (Although probably not as long as you lovely SOTL!) I am thinking she will be a class 8, similar to my two decker. She is longer and wider, but will not be as heavy. And I am super excited to progress. I do, however, expect to take my time with her, to get her to look right. And be sturdy. Securing the chainplates properly for the shrouds will be a difficult task, I fear. With the rigging as tall as it will be on her, they will have to be able to take quite a strain. How did you manage that on your SOTL, particularly considering the decks can be removed?
  5. LS that is looking good, and Elos, you are quite a tease! ;) I too have a little something in the works WIP by Christian West, on Flickr
  6. It seems to me the only real issue are the extremes at the lower end. (BTW, what is stopping a class 0 from having five cargo points?) Not so much in terms of game balance, but how do you explain a class zero carrying 20 men? :P Must be quite a barge! ;)
  7. Unfortunately, no. We are a little delayed all around the clock, so to speak, and some of the things are highly interconnected. I want to add that while we much prefer the quick response we (mainly Capt Wolf and Genaro) have been able to deliver the last few rounds, everything is still driven by volunteers, so *sometimes* this may unfortunately lead to a little more need for patience. We are working on improving our processes, though, so hopefully, this will be less and less pronounced.
  8. PS. Next time, don't give us measures in imperial units... We are not cavemen! ;)
  9. Good looking schooner, LM71 - sorry for not giving more elaborate feedback for now, but I am a bit under pressure in terms of time. I agree with Legostone that this is similar in size to the Green Winds, but I will agree with LS too that she can be a class 6. She is a bit bulkier in build than the green winds with a considerably longer waterline. I will see if I can find time for more feedback later (I am generally behind on commenting :/ ), but for now, I will just say that this is your best rigging yet. My only comments would be: The shrouds should draw the mast slightly backwards rather than just downwards/sidewards. (The chains should be just behind the mast) The masts of a schooner would be divided into two just above the gaff (see my Amethyst or LS' Green Winds) Your forestaysail (the lower most jib) should be on a stay from the bow to the top of the lower mast, not to the top of the topmast as it is now I can recommend technic connectors and axles (2 studs long) for masts and spars. They are normally fairly cheap on bricklink (Your current solution works surprisingly well, though!) Great work and cool to see a custom hull! The above is mainly nitpicking! I really like this one!
  10. I'd say there is some leeway for alternative da vinci-ish technology, but everything has to be within the time frame. BoBs has to contain anything from early exploration to late napoleonic era. If we start pushing technology beyond this, we mess up what we have. And ruin the picture I personally have. I have no interest in a sail punk setting for this. It is an age of sail setting with some mythological aspects, and we do see some alternative designs, such as Jacob Nions first ship, where the guns where in a circular bastion up front. Those are fine as they are examples of how the technology at hand could have been employed differently. But when you start introducing a machine gun, the gamemasters (me... Muhahah!) will demote it to a failed experiment. Yes, you can build early mitralleuses or puckle guns, but they have to be made with technology of the day, and I doubt anyone will accept them as "wonder weapons". Sail punk belongs somewhere else, if you ask me. At least the more explicit examples. Ps: The giant first rates where a thing well within the era. The victory was launched in 1765, if I remember correctly. And the Spanish built their three deckers before the wars.
  11. To make it clear: Builds can generally be licensed, if they meet the requirements for a licensable build. This is regardless of whether it is a troop build, MRCA build, or a freebuild, for instance. What is important is that the build meets the requirements for each function it serves. The requirements for a troop build is that it represents the troops and explains how many and where the troops are being raised. The requirement for a property build is that it shows some sort of licensable property in the proper size and with the proper effort. There is no reason a 32x32 (or perhaps 32x40, etc.) build cannot serve both as a troop raising build and as a medium property. We have no interest in discouraging larger builds with several different properties and stories going on. That said, in case of insufficient effort, it is the courts right and duty to step in, regardless of which aspect is being underrepresented (in terms of effort and possibly stud count).
  12. Each settlement can recruit as many troops as the rules apply. (not per player) So if no one else is recruiting troops, you could technically recruit the maximum amount in all settlements. That would not give you an army, but many small units. To bring them together, you will need to transport them by sea.
  13. Just like, to me, it was absurd when Mesabi sailed two Corrie warships into Bastion after fighting the Sea Rat black flag ships, it is, to me, absurd that a pirate fleet should anchor in a national port and expect to be treated as a peaceful trader. Particularly when bringing in a prize just recently taken in a piratical attack. As to the Prio case, there was obviously some misunderstanding, that seems to have been cleared now, but who actually reacted? As far as I remember, only Prio really did? (And Maxim ;) ) So I am not really sure I see how there is any bias here?
  14. Agreed - and sorry for not being clear in my first answer. We make it a class 1 with the stats already published.
  15. I cannot. We do not need more complexity, so unless an easy to understand and operate solution can be presented, this is unrealistic. This is old hat. And in any case, being raided should have consequences for the one being raided. Just digging into a reserve that can't do anything else is just adding even more money to the game.
  16. I think we should let the stats speak, not the class. Sorry for the confusion.
  17. You can, but you do not have to.

  19. I have made a last minute, above my paygrade, decision, and raids must be, for this round, conducted by pm to capt wolf AND captain genaro. Sorry for the mess up. The court apologises for its collective lack of professionalism. Also, lovely boat, Garmadon!
  20. Note to all: Regarding raids! Since we, in our eternal professionalism, has forgotten to update the MRCA form, any raids will have to be handled by filling in the details in a pm and sending it to @Capt Wolf AND @Captain Genaro We apologize for our forgetfulness.
  21. We do not quite agree on the concept of legality, it seems... :P "continue to" I think you mean... Not exactly breaking news! :D
  22. The court will find a way around this. Obviously, the point is not to find ways to embezzle or hide money from the raiders. So those of you who feel you may have found a way to safeguard your money might end up being disappointed. There might not be anything specific in the rules about this, but the spirit of the rules is the main thing here. And obviously, the spirit of the rules is not that raiding should be irrelevant for neither raider or raidee. These transfers can, in my personal opinion, only be fair in a ruleset where money can be intercepted during transport, or regardless of who holds them. And I do not think we want a complicated ruleset for moving funds around. We will get back when we know more. Drunknok, Elos is explaining his own position, that he does not want to post something he is not satisfied with. There is no reason to make it a conflict by projecting his own standards on others, when he has not done so himself. Let us not make this a conflict.
  23. From @Bodi: To Rear-Admiral Fletcher of Her Most Corrish Majesty's Navy, Early this month, I was informed that a pirates fleet had moored at Lavalette, alongwith the corvette HMS Badger. The fact that those pesky pirates had chosen to sail into one of Oleon's port with their prize is completely outrageous and inacceptable. The local RNTC garrison would have detained all the pirates if their defense wasn't reduced to a sole medium fort. This was why we've accepted to work with your men to reinforce our defense at Lavalette. According to our agreement, Corrington had dispatched a group of Royal Engineers to assist in building up fortifications to counter the the pirate threat. In return, Oleon had seized the HMS Badger and are currently working to expel the pirate fleet. We will also assist in the build up of similar Corlander defences at some point in the future. The RNTC garrison has ordered the pirates fleet to leave Lavelette without the Badger and we are ready to hand over that ship to you. Duc d'Ablette Secrétaire d'État des Colonies, Grand Officier de l'Ordre Royal de Saint-Arltrees @MKJoshA: OOC this means that the HMS Badger is being detained in port in Lavalette, and that your pirate fleet (ex. the badger) must leave the settlement.
  24. A large fortress is now licensed in the name of the settlement.
