Kings Port Advertiser (Vol 4, Special Issue) January 619
Bregir replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Dear everyone, The court has made its decision and any preceding events, grievances, or issues in this regard are considered closed by the court. There is no reason to point fingers neither direction. Now, we all turn to the natural disaster, an IC event. Sincerely, Bregir -
@Drunknok: I have a secret document prepared, and will get it to you tonight. Sorry for the delay. It has slipped in the general business off- and online. I think we can give you an extension, but can you tell us until when? Saturday 12th ok? (then there is a chance we can gm your adventure sunday)

[SR - FB1] - Dec '618 - The Arming of the Hotspur
Bregir replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Reinforcing scantlings and heavily up-arming her did make the Hotspur more sluggish, decreasing her range and manoeuvrability, while her cargo hold was taken up with additional magazine and shot storage, as well as quarters for an increased crew. However, once in battle, she would now be a much more potent force for any foe. @Kwatchi: Your request stat change is hereby granted. I will invite LS to the pm with the new stats. Also, Excellent build and a very nice ship-side - one should almost hope you would build an entire ship with those looks! :) -
[MCTC: Salida Este] A world of colours
Bregir replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like where salida este is going, Elos! Looks like it will be a very characteristic settlement, unlike any other, and perhaps with a more artistic culture than most? As to the specific build, it somewhat reminds me of homemade houses built by old hippies near where I live. Although this is considerably more substantial, the unconventional floor plan and the dome makes it look fanciful. Gold details and dark tan split up another bold colour choice nicely, and again you draw me towards BrickLink for crazy colour orders! :D- 6 replies

Still has to be approved by the court, though! ;)

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, yes, if you can find the settlements to allow you to raise that many troops. Any settlement can only support recruiting troops up to its limit, regardless of who recruits the troops. I think that is what you meant? So in practice, probably not. Aaand, you would have to be able to transport them too, unless you license them exactly where you need them. I have my eyes on you! :P ;) -
I think the ambiguity will depend on the WTC's response. You have explained the case elsewhere - now we are just waiting for an IC resolution.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Allow me to interject: 1) Yes, if you can pay for them, both raising and upkeep, and there is spare capacity in the given settlement to do so. (Faction troops will probably take precedence) 2) Hmm, not sure how this works tMRCA-wise, but before any Corlander gets any fancy ideas, if the faction finds you are conducting piracy, you will be in trouble. ;) -
Corrington is awaiting the WTC's response to Allcock's letter before declaring anyone outlawed. This might be overstating it, though...

Hi Kwatchi, Yes, of course. However, have you transmitted your desired stats to us? In that case, I have missed it - we need to see them to be able to say if it is a reasonable change. My best guess is, you can start planning with changed stats, but we just need to formalities in place. Cheers! PS. Thanks for poking me again with capturing my ship...

Mesabi has shown a fine still, which reasonably accurately depicts what was historically considered a moonshine still. However, to license something as a property, the build in total has to show sufficient effort for the desired license size. So showing something accurately does not qualify it as a property. That takes "sufficient building effort". I have called you out for your insinuations and accusations about my leadership before and asked you to explain yourself, either directly to me or to another leader, if you do not like to approach me directly. You have not, and I consider that dishonourable behaviour. Hence, I cannot associate with you beyond absolute bare necessities until such an explanation is offered. And please take it elsewhere, as it it not relevant for this build.

From the rules on properties: Note: Plot Sizes are guidelines; neither maximums nor minimums. However, leadership reserves the right to reject any poor quality or undersized MOCs. EDIT: In court we use a concept called "sufficient effort" as a general rule of thumb to cover the above. I will add that I think @Captain Dee's position promotes the sort of community and spirit of the game we should foster. One of quality and improvement, as well as mutual respect. And I want to commend him for taking the time to suggest improvements and explain his position. I am sure it can be helpful to @Mesabi, who has often asked for feedback.

While the still itself is fairly clever, I have to say I agree entirely with Captain Dee here. Too little building effort/building mass, and to that a near absence of story. And I do not think this qualifies as a factory. You have been here long, have built a lot, have proved that you can do better, and have plenty of EGS income. Additionally, you have heard similar feedback before. There is no excuse left for subpar builds, and I have to suggest such to the court now.

[SR-CHII prize-Fatu Hiva] Royal Basilica of the Faith
Bregir replied to Bart's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, you can approach the foremost bank of the brick seas, the bank of Corrington (BoC) or issue an open tender for funding. I am sure there are many who will offer you funding at various rates and conditions, given that you have a certain income of 500 DBs for, well... ever! ;) -
Great build, Elos. I think it has just the right amount of life - the colonies are not big old world cities, but settlements established in the vast nothingness of Terra Nova, so they would not be too cramped. The pale yellow and white colourscheme is brilliant, and you once more have me considering a huge pale yellow bricklink order! :P While I wonder where the architectural influence comes from, and how they have made their way to Salida Este, I really like the look. Details like the small insets in the wall, the well, and the small windows in the towers really stand out for me. My only wish is that you had included more full-size pictures! :)

[SR-CHII prize-Fatu Hiva] Royal Basilica of the Faith
Bregir replied to Bart's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As I said elsewhere, Bart, this is absolutely spectacular. First of all, the whole setup with the forest around it and the raised battlements and monastary give it both a sense of scale and grandeur, and makes it a more realistic setup altogether. Second, the basilica itself looks like it could be something real. It has the proper (to the best of my knowledge, that is) layout, and loads of great architectural details. The dome is in itself brilliant, but the stained glass, flying buttresses, grand entrances and subtle dis-symmetries like the two different towers really makes this an absolute beauty, and the frontpage is well-deserved! Additionally, you have given it a story to make it fit into the world of BoBS, something that is sometimes forgotten on a grand build like this. Start a fundraiser - ask for donations to the faith, have the faith/oleon finance you, seek outside investors, collude with your fellow rats, or similar. There is money enough in BoBs to build several of these, all you need to do is find the right investor at the right price. So shop around a bit for the best offer, both economically, administratively, and strategically. :) -
Returning to civilisation had at first been pleasant. The good food, enjoyable company, and comforts of modern life was a nice change from living it rough in the jungles of Celestia. However, just as he had arrived in Jameston, he had been informed of a diplomatic crisis brewing. It had been sparked by piratical attacks by some crews connected to the Wayfarer Trading Company, apparently founded by the insufferable count Mesabi, who had so angered Montoya during the Malto peace talks. So informed, Montoya had made his way to the Olean consulate in Jameston with the utmost haste, but found the consul unavailable - or at least so he was told by the clerk. Hence, he was now making his way towards the residence of the consul, a small but stately house nearby. At the door, again he was dismissed, told by the guards that the consul was not available. He was starting to wonder if this was really true, or if he was being avoided. Not to be deterred, he had the guard swear upon his honour that he would deliver a letter to the consul at the utmost despatch. The letter: My last build (almost) in Jameston before Montoya heads back west. I wish to offer this little art and culture or residence for Oleon to license, with the stipulation that it counts towards my December build count. @Bodi @Captain Genaro - anyone of you are welcome to license it. :) The secret juniper treaty mentioned above was to have been the main focus of Montoya contacting Oleon upon his return, but something *cough cough* WTC ;) came in the way. C&C welcome, as always.

Excellent build and fabulous story. It seems there is hope yet for the innocent inhabitants of Charlatan Bay! I particularly like your trenches, and the way you have made it seem perfectly natural to have the attackers sneak through the undergrowth. And to top it off, it is a very interesting storyline!

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Mesabi, I think the shaping around the cabin is quite good, but as others have said, using the large prefabs at this size makes her very wide. I would suggest a custom hull, or finding some of the old narrow prefabs :) As for the colours, I think they are OK (after all, I am building a sotl in those exact colours... :P) I also agree hat putting the masts up high like that makes her look odd. I would instead put hem on the lower deck, and then add topmasts. What sort of rigging do you have in mind? Kwatchi, next time, post it in the naval licensing court. But we will look at it! TJ, that is one very impressive build! Very nice quarter galleries and looks very powerful all around. I agree with Bart that it should be a class 9, particularly with all those decks. I can't help but wonder, though, if she would look much nicer, more harmonic, and realistic (and avoid the faith of the Swedish "Vasa"... :P) if you took out the middle deck. She is currently very tall, and looks like she would handle like a contrary bucket, if not outright tilt right over! :D (For the game, that is all up to you, but for realism it looks a bit odd) And I was about to ask for more pictures when I checked flickr :P -

[SR-FB] Das Rathskeller Letters.
Bregir replied to Roadmonkeytj's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice bench arrangement, and overall good interior. I like the rocky lower wall as if build by large irregular rocks. It would be nice to see an overview shot, and I am not to impressed with the render. It looks a bit too shiny for me. Good shiplimits build overall, though! -
[OL MCRA Results] Oleon's Response
Bregir replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build, CG. I am particularly amazed of how you get so many all lego shots in such a relatively moderately sized build. Do you plan that in advance, or simply figure it out afterwards? I am also a bit concerned Duc de Vele would be so belligerent against Corrington, although granted, it is justified! :O Looking forward to seeing where this goes! :)- 16 replies
