[ESL vs Mardier] Eslandolan Prisoners
Bregir replied to halixon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The court hasn't even given verdict yet, and the Eslandolans are already planning to violate sovereign territory of Mardier or Terraversa? I can't say I am surprised! Nice little cell, and details like the... sanitation installation are great. The cell does seem perfectly placed for an incursion from the sea, and it does seem rather conspicious with all those explosives nearby! -
@Kabel: I think you are bringing up some good points, and I agree that the EGS/MRCA should not take precedence over the storyline and the builds. Some people are probably taking it too seriously, and I see absolutely no reason for conflict. That is also why I suggest people are more open to the rating, rather than insisting on a specific rating - it seems like putting the game over the build and storytelling, when some stats are more important than keeping immersion. At least, that is my interpretation. I fail to understand why people would react negatively OOC to an IC action. Oleon seemed to react as expected, rejecting the claim, and I can tell you it started a lot of conjecture and speculation in Corrington too. All signs of an effective storybuilder! @CB4: We are working on something in the skunkworks, CB4. Most likely a set of "archetypes" for each class. Specific measurements are hard to make, as there are so many things to measure, and it puts a lot of rigidity into the system. However, a good way to avoid conflict is to be open as to the rating of the vessel you post. I typically suggest what rating my moc should have, and then ask what people think. That way, conflict is avoided.

Great looking harbour scene, Dzoni! I really like the different buildings one the harbour front, especially the barber and the lighthouse. I love the life on the street, with the parade (great drum), the window cleaner, and the guy lighting the lamps. The hanging flags and the sevage outlet is great, as is the water. The only thing I am not entirely convinced about is the boat - it seems too low in the water - but the pier is great. Very well done.

While we accept (yet regret) your decision, in the interest of transparency, I will still let you know our result. We did not reach unanimity on the matter, but below you will find our considerations. Generally, we think "La Salamndra" is a perfect example of a 3F, possibly a 3A, and that it could also, while being on the small side, pass for a 4T1 or 4WR. However, as she "only" carries 4 main guns, most of us think that she is too small and lightly armed for a 4A, which should carry around 12 guns in her main batteries. Let us know if this leads to any questions or comments.

April 616 - Corrington's Escorted Trade Runs
Bregir replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Dear mr. Coyle, I shall be much obliged if the newly procured Bellson (Formerly "Heart of Eslandia") may join the Fire Trader Convoy. Best regards Ibn al'Sayeed Director The Montoya Estate -
Are we about to witness a revolution?! If the King finds out, surely, you will all hang by the neck until disambled! (Interesting turn to the story - will be looking forward for more. ) And the ship itself. Looking lovely - and the interior and exterior details are very nice. I particularly like the ladder up the side, the use of stud-shooters as swivels, the openings for guns at the bow, and the railings fore and aft. I too wonder, though, what happened to the rigging? In the Margot, you proved your abilities in this regard, and I think it would very much improve the Prince of Stedor too. (Especially since preparations for shrouds have clearly been made already! I like the raised fore- and aftcastles, and the slope if the stern galleries. It gives her the look of a galleon or carrack from the earlier age of sail, and makes her look very roomy and sea-worthy, although she probably will not outperform more modern constructions in manouver. Further, being limited to masts and topmasts, and thus only two sails per mast, also adds to her more traditional look. All in all, nice to see a take on the older vessels in BoBS. Well done. (Will we see her more elaborately rigged at some point? Pwease? @_@)

I looked at it another time, Kai, and I see that I misjudged her beam - she is wider than most other vessels here - which again led me to misjudge her length somewhat. About 18-20 studs in beam, as far as I can see! That probably makes her the size of a small frigate or so, and, without knowing the MRCA 2.0 classes, we might as you say, assume that means class 6, or possibly 7. We will see when the new MRCA is launched. To rating in general, I would like to see people less set on a predetermined rating, and more interested in finding the "right" rating post-moc'ing and -posting of the vessels. It would be a shame to have people more set on getting the game-wise advantages of a class XY than on following the letter and, more importantly, spirit of the rating system.

I meant the brown printed tiles on the back, just below the roof. Their texture just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the build. But it is a very minor detail, and just my opinion :)
-
Nice smithy- the walls are very elaborate, as is the roof, and I like the "interior". A special sword for the king is a great idea. I am not a fan of the printed tiles at the back - it sort of looks... unfitting, as the rest is done in "plain" bricks. The smoke and all the weapons are cool too.

Grocery store of the Pons family
Bregir replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice little grocer! I really like the portico and all those little details, such as the beheading of the fish, the clotheslines, and the goods out front. The prison door strikes me as a little odd, and I hope they have another place to live - otherwise, it must be rather cramped! -
She doesn't look larger than for instance the Heart of Eslandia to me, though. I might be wrong, but I would say Garmadon's vessel is a perfect example of a class 5.

Brilliant office, Garmadon. The wall-technique is looking good, although it does seem very fragile. I like the furniture, especially the clock. It should, of course, come as no surprise that Eslandian officials are inefficient and only work if bribed... Typical for those mercantilist bureaucrats!

[COR - MCRA] The Queen`s Golden Pleasure Rods
Bregir replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, Tomsche, I have a feeling this is borderline "lese-majesty"! Very amusing, though! -
Is that supposed to bring good fortune to the settlement? It seems rather grim to me! Very bloody scene, and I like the vegetation. Interesting story too - it will be interesting to see this pirate settlement develop!
-
Well, Garmadon - this is brilliant! A very well built ship throughout, and when I figured the hull was brickbuilt I was even more impressed. The full interrior is great, and the use of those arches is quite brilliant. I am very impressed with the overall shape and the integrated cabin is really good. The rigging is very well made, but adding ratlines to those thin shrouds must have been horribly stressfull! In short, your month of hard work on this has really paid off - and as far as I remember, this is your first BoBS vessel, isn't it? Very impressive! I only have too comments: 1) While the guns are looking great, they seem incapable of firing in anything but high elevation, due to the lack of gun ports. Will be unhandy in closequarter combat, especially with smaller pirate vessels. 2) You write: (I'm think Class 7 or 8F, but I won't be licencing it for a while yet) Might one assume you meant "4 or 5F"? That seems more logical to me Enjoyed the story too, by the way. And the edited pics look great, but I am really happy you also included the un-edited pics, as it is much easier to make out the details there. The edited are great for story-telling, though! Let me know if she will ever be for sale!

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome, Captain James. I think there are some good tutorials for uploading pictures somewhere, but first you need a photohosting side like Flickr, or Brickshelf. They will then allow you to embed pictures in your posts here. -

Had they been a few days earlier, they could have gotten passage on the Athena. On the upside, if they are in need of passage, the newly procured Ferret packet vessel will be at their disposal. Perhaps Cooke and/or Montoya will be available for the opening of the School too. (If you want, you are welcome to include them. They have a meeting with Smaugton anyway)

Yeah, I got that too, now... The batteries of King's Harbour are firing a full princely salute, as are all vessels of the Montoya Estate....

Great interior, BrickOn! A very lovely fireplace, and some very vibrant colours! I have a feeling Lt. Watton might be rather happy Elena has arrived?..

Really cool to see how you progressed through the different iterations. I too do similar tests like you, with experimenting with different heights for floors, details, etc. And some day, I might reach something that looks like your skill!

45 dbs transferred. And yes, comunications run fast these days - and afterall, it is said that Corrington has the fastest ships! (In fact, my HMS Otter isn't a 3F, but a 3SV (Super Velocé)... ) Those crabs are armed to the claws! I hope their battle will lead to no collatoral! I am happy you took the offer, and more so that you think it is a good idea with more of these, as I am planning a whole series of them to expand King's Harbour! @BlackdeathGRerghghugrtyuguijerhgdsfuio Well, if it is a fair business deal, it should strengthen both sides equally, as KB has been renumerated in cash... If any balance has been shifted, I set the wrong price!
