  1. Really nice Ship of the Line! I love those stern galleries and the curvature of the hull is looking great too. The presentation along other well-known vessels of BoBS is really cool, although I would suggest rendering the pictures for a better look. (I have no clue if that is even possible with such a large setup, though. ) I really like story too - the idea of dispatching an old battered two-decker, which might not make much difference in home waters, to the new world to keep balance is brilliant, and very realistic.
  2. A small and Swift packet-cutter from Corrington arrives shortly after the coronation, carrying an official letter from Corrington To his Majesty, King Philip, the first of his name, and his beloved Queen Beatrice, News of your Coronation has reached Belson, and our Queen, People and Parliament wishes you all the joy of our hearts at your ascension to the honourable and divine position on the throne of one of the great empires of our world. It is our humble hopes that you may too see this as an opportunity to put former differences aside and settle the minor issues and past deeds that have caused so much hardship between our great nations. My Queen assures me that she would like nothing more than to resolve our conflicts in amiable manners and resume a relation of peace and prosperity between the Crowns of Oleon and Corrington. Should you wish to discuss this further, I am at your disposal as her Majesty, our beloved Queen Anetta's, envoy. We wish you joy of your throne, and may it bring about peace from conflict and order from chaos. On behalf of Crown, People, and Parliament Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul of New Terra Corrington
  3. Great way to introduce a new king and nice idea for a challenge. I do not know if I will have the time to participate, but I will most definitely follow it with great interest! (I wonder if King Fernando-Augusto will participate with an entry celebrating King Philip's succesion! )
  4. While she is only a lowly sloop, her scantlings are tough, as she is built for the high seas, and her guns hit hard! Glad you like the sails - while the elaborate cloth sails of some of the more expert builders are fantastic and looks much more realistic, I think these paper sails do their job pretty well. I have, obviously, absolutely no idea who you might be referring to! I did, however, hear that some copycats wrote a whole series of books and made a movie based on a combination of Captain Genaro and Cooke's life! Glad you like the vessel, captain - I might try your tip about more hinges for another vessel, although the design in my head for a frigate will be build quite differently. As to the cabin, I am happy you think I succeeded! (And I too have been commenting on the high cabins of some vessels on BOBS...) Should I build her again, though, I would have taken away the top part of the rear hull piece and integrated the cabin even more in the hull, so that her poop deck would hardly be raised from the main-deck at all. Brigs/Snows of this size were typically almost flush-decked, I believe. Nonetheless, I have grown quite attached to her, and doubt I will take her apart anytime soon. Thanks, Captain! I am quite happy with both too! And with th size of the Lego guns, I prefer brickbuilt ones for anything but the largest vessels.
  5. The Crown of Corrington lays down claim for the Islands #4 and #9 and justifies these claims by the efforts of exploration and fortification conducted by its loyal subjects. On behalf of Crown, Country and Science Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul of New Terra
  6. Dear Señor da Pontelli, News have reached me of your recent work in the study of hot air, and rumour has it you have discovered a way to make inanimate objects fly! Can such a marble be true? Shall we no longer be doomed to keep our feet on solid ground? Oh, the opportunities! While I am no expert in the physics, I will follow developments closely, and should hope to be allowed a demonstration, if ever I am to call at Pontelli.(?) Should it suit you to do so, I am certain the scientific community in Corrington would much appreciate a paper on your findings. With great admiration Don Isaac Montoya Chairman The Society of Natural Philosophy New World Branch _____ Great looking laboratory! The idea of introducing hot air flight is brilliant, and I can't wait to see his next steps! I will echo the others that the amount of details is fantastic, and that the building itself is very nice too. Will this be licensed as a scientific/educational facility?
  7. Great looking little chapel - I really like the buttressed walls and the "semi-tower" (As you can't really climb it on the inside) for the bells - reminds me of several small churches in Catalonia. (Although they were often in raw stone.) The whitewashed walls and the inclusion of a full interior is great. My only concern is that Eslandola too will fall to the crutches of Religion! Of course, the alter may just be a chest of gold - One never knows!
  8. Great looking little villa - I too really like the style being developed for Eslandola! The patch of garden, the flowers out front, and the creeping vines are all great details, and I really like the balcony and the roof. Adding round 1x1 plates at the bottom of the roof is a brilliant way to avoid the hollow bottom of the round bricks used for the roof. My only critique is that the road seems rather plain compared to the rest of the build. And as this is sitting on a 32x32 baseplate, and is in two layers, I would say you could easily license this as a medium residence.
  9. No wonder Fernando would have liked that throne!
  10. As part of the Naval Licensing and Prize Court, I think I can say that that would be ok. However, it would be best if you could find a way to explain the difference in character. It is probably best explained by why the vessel initially does not have the full power it should have. And a small build of some sort to explain returning to full power again would be great too. Our main concern is IC consistency.
  11. This is stupendous, Gideon, absolutely awe-inspiring, and indeed a fitting residence for royalty. (And luckily you found a king to put in there! ) I have followed it a bit on flickr, and was really looking forward to the result, but this absolutely blew me away! Especially the center with the large door, the balcony and the pillars (and very clever use of that crown, btw) is brilliant, but the overall composition and those windows works wonderfully too. The big "bricks" in the foundation are inspired and the statues too, large and small. Great job! It really goes to show how much you can extort your people, if you can get them to believe in divine rights!
  12. Nice build - and I really enjoyed the lecture on headgear! :D I like the composition and the description of the architecture, but I think the hut looks a little rough around the edges - could perhaps use some more finish and some more advanced techniques? The burning stones are very nice too - it looks like a ceremonial place! Well done - and good to see some more science! ;)
  13. Pre-emptive strikes and deeming people guilty in advance? Behold Eslandolian justice, gentlemen!
  14. If I were a Sea Rat, I would be insulted by all those foreigners trying to define, what they are. And that based not on actual actions, but on conjecture.
  15. Kai, OOC that is a viable position, but IC you cannot stop the Sea Rats from protesting. And while you might not (IC) consider them a nation with which rules and diplomacy hold, maybe others do? At least, they are perfectly justified in complaining (IC). You can't just (IC) hide it away in a courtcase and expect everyone to accept that (IC).
  16. For the record, Bloody Bill has now recieved his payment. May it become him well. Should I do something to change the ownership status of the vessel?
  17. I am still going to maintain that just being a sea eat is not the same as sailing under the Jolly Roger. You cannot hang a man for an act he didn't commit. Or is that only a principle in civilised societies? I.e. Corrington... (Do you hang people in Eslandola because you can make a profit, and in Oleon for believing in the wrong gods? :P :D ;) )
  18. Maxim: Eslandola is welcome to declare war on Mardier. After all, they did attack you unprovoked. Or any other NPC nation, if you need someone to raid...
  19. Again, not all sea rats are pirates. Being a pirate is defined by the act of piracy. So far, most sea rats have acted only as independent agents, who does not wish to be affiliated with the interests of a particular nation. So calling them all pirates, well, I would be insulted, and consider calling you to the field of honour to duel it out...;)
  20. @KB: Corrington will supply an advocate for the Mardier cause, and it might be me, if no one else pops up, but we will keep you updated! @Jacob: I suppose any individual, group, TC or faction with gold can put up a bounty on anyone. As long as they are ready to face the consequences! @Maxim: This is not a question of balance - this is a question of what is right and wrong IC. And in my IC mind, your act was clear piracy. The fact that your captains didn't do that piracy very well is no excuse! "Well, we might have been criminal, but we were VERY bad at it... So it is ok, right?"
  21. Drunken pirates raiding the wrong settlement? I love it! It is a bold move to raid an Eslandian settlement, though - and I wonder if not a bounty will be put on your heads! Or perhaps you will be put to justice at the hands of the Sea Rat council? Drama! Those buildings with the rising smoke and the tipped over doors are great, and Captain Meloche has a very swift way to deal with errors!
  22. Great conclusion to a great storyline - this is exactly the kind of things I like to see inspired by the game mechanics! Great story telling and nice action shots and builds. Now we better hope that cut does not get infected...
  23. Well, Jacob - If the sea rats attack the Eslandian National ships, bounty or not, I think you will find the Eslandian King will respond. I mean, a bounty is not a carte blanche - you will still need to consider the consequences. But if someone in a faction has gone rogue, it is likely that they will not be protected. In some cases, however, officials channels might be better. So some issues would still best be solved by diplomacy, which I think is perfect. (And I still maintain that the Eslandolan prizes taken from Sea Rat traders are unlawful.) And of course, someone needs to have the gold to put up a bounty!
  24. Great story telling, and beautiful mine. I will not repeat all the praise (you will just get too full of yourself... ) but only suggest that next time, it would make more sense if the mineshaft was deeper. Currently, it seems to me that they might as well have made an open mine! Oh, and BTW... Don't trust that Kimber fellow... Cooke had some business with a "gentleman" of the same name, and it did not go well...
