I really like the look of that blue cloth for the sea - the colour and texture is just right, especially in the first pic. The fortress is really nice too - as others have said, it has that classic lego look, while still not being outdated. It is really cool that it has a full interior. The only thing I am missing in the story is how it fits in New Terra, but I suggest we talk about this in the Corrington pm thread. Well done!

[COR - Mar FB1] Cocoa Plantation, King's Harbour
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Montoya has been reading your notes on the Cacao-tree with great interest, and hopes that Cpt. Allcock will indulge him in a visit to see the plantation, and, more importantly, those fascinating trees. Especially a closer observation of whether the very unique reported taste attracts some specific birds and beasts, and how this affects the spread of the seeds woudl be most interesting! (In fact, convincing Montoya that not awaiting an invitation might be considered impolite was trying work, but luckily an interesting seal showed its presence in the harbour, distracting him somewhat!) Further, Cooke would like to stipulate that any extra lumber produced from the clearing of the plantation be shipped to King's Harbour, as building materials are scarce._ ___ Great build - The tree is excellent (and I can't think of a better solution for the seed pods... Although in principle, I too would prefer purist solutions ), and the idea of establishing the plantation around an existing tree - it is very fitting for a frontier settlement, and I really like the composition of the build - nothing is in the way, so you can see everything, but it doesn't look bare. As others, I love how you have depicted and described the whole process - it makes for a fascinating read.- 20 replies

[COR-FB1] Military Governor's Office: King's Harbour
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The King's Harbour Foundation As the Society of Natural Philosophy wishes to support the exploration and scientific grandeur of the Empire, the board has established a foundation for the new settlement of King's Harbour. This foundation offers to fund half the cost of establishing any business relevant for the naval base. This includes, but is not limited to, the following enterprises: Docks, piers, cranes Arsenal Shipyard Naval outfitter Provisioner Naval Hospital Anyone wishing to take advantage of the foundation should contact Don Isaac Montoya, fellow of the Society, and local fund manager, or whoever he might chose to appoint for the task. In return for its investment, the Society of Natural Philosophers will require a share of profits, namely that of the months April, August and December until such a time that three payments have been made. As the Society is a non-profit organisation, these proceeds will go into the funds managed by the foundation, rather than to any stakeholders. [COR-FB1] Military Governor's Office: King's Harbour
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To all shipwrights, ship-, and boatyards of New Terra, (Contract closed) The Corlander settlement King's Harbour is need of a small, fast, ocean-going vessel to carry local communications and supplies, including for the fort at Chase Point. The contract includes a station for the vessel in King's Harbour, where messages and supplies can be deposited and loaded. Contractors are to present their designs to the Military Governor, Captain Jno. Cooke (in this thread), who will pick the preferred design to be purchased for the sum of 40 gold dubloons. Any questions are to be directed at the Governor's office. (Here) Signed Captain Jno. Cooke Provisional Military Governor King's Harbour, Cocovia OOC: This is a contract for an unlicensed vessel (class 1F) and a station (pier/quay/?) to go with it. The station should include some sort of office/small warehouse, where the crew can rest, messages can be deposited, goods can be loaded, etc (Think small or medium property). Creativity is encouraged, but I prefer a realistic spin. Keep in mind that King's Harbour is still a young settlement. All designs can be submitted as freebuilds (and the builder can claim the freebuild dubloons), but if the MOC is purchased, the right of use (licensing) will pass to King's Harbour. (Well, me.) I will not make a decision earlier than the 20th of April, to give interested contractors time to build, but will keep the offer open until a suitable moc is found.- 14 replies

Outstanding contracts: Class 1F vessel w/station: 40 db Lumbermill: 25 db Coming soon: Quarry Outstanding offers: The King's Harbour Foundation ________________________________________________ The military governor's office in King's Harbouris where the settlement is managed, and where you will find all outstanding contracts, offers and incentives, as well as all other issues related to the management of King's Harbour, both military and civilian. The small but stately building was one of the first to be erected on the new stone quays. It is rather small, but for the early beginnings of the settlement, it is more than sufficient. However, in time, the administration is apt to outgrow this small building. Outside the building this very day, Cooke and Montoya are conducting each their business. Due to a shortage of manpower, Cooke has commandeered young mr. Baker, nominally Montoya's research assistant, and is currently dictating a contract for a new despatch vessel for local communications, especially to improve contact to the fortress at Chase Point, to far away for overland contact. At the same time, Montoya is welcoming Ibn al'Sayeed, manager of the Montoya Estate, who has arrived with the Sphinx, while his crew is dragging a heavy chest of gold into the new office. ____________________________________ Hereby a small office for the management of King's Harbour. Of course, C&C for the build and story is welcome, but in the long run, this post will be used for different announcements and the like, relating to King's Harbour. Any advice on what license type I should choose?

@Titus: Great - all are welcome to place a tender for the contract and will be considered fairly. That is a very reasonable sentiment. I was actually considering making it a separate topic to avoid this, but it felt like it was too little for that. Do you have the powers to move it?- 77 replies

Calling Volunteers! Eslandola Vs. Mardier - Build Off
Bregir replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have no quarrel with the current sig-ups, but concievably, three Eslandolians could sign up for the other side and put up really crappy builds to get back their vessels. Thus, I suggest that you should not be able to sign up against your own faction. Noone did so sofar. I was hypothesising. -
Attention shipwrights. King's Harbour has put up a contract for the moc'ing of a small vessel with an accompanying station. Don't miss out on this business opportunity!

And I suppose you cannot enter against your own faction in these kind of minichallenges, as that would lead to conflict of interest? -

Thanks, both. As for the hinterland question, in the case of King's Harbour, I suppose that would include the fortress at Chase Point, since it is a considerable distance (appr. 5 nautical miles) away from the city.

Thanks Kai. Another question: Unlicensed moc's are worth 5, 10, or 15, compared to what they are equivalent to in terms of licensed properties, or always worth 5, regardless of size?

[MRCA Mar2016-ESL] Outran a Pirate ....
Bregir replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
NIce microvignette, captain. It is nice that you added flags, but might one not consider it odd that 1) they are not flowing in the same direction and 2) that the flag on the pirate vessel indicates that it is sailing right against the wind?- 11 replies

[COR - FB3 apr] Welcome to Quinnsville: The Tour!
Bregir replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice overview of the settlement, Tomsche! Quinsville is quickly growing, and I fear King's Harbour will be but a small satelite on Cocovia for quite some time! My only comment is, that with for the properties placed with their backside towards the beach, the open backed design isn't working too well. It looks a bit unfinished. Very lively settlement, and I will be looking forward to seeing it grow! -

Will the builders get some sort of reward, or is this purely motivated by the possible change in title of the vessels? -
