  1. Wow! That castle surely looks promising
  2. Doesn't a lot of real-world volcanos (like Mount Kilimanjaro) have a lot of snow on them when not erupting? ;)
  3. Great scene, and especially really nice bird designs! I love the idea of the Lone Mountain being like Mount Kilimanjaro, a place where you can find snow even in the hot Kaliphlin climate
  4. Nice storytelling and I like the buildings in the background as well, but I agree that it wouldn't hurt with some more "life" in the ground and wall. Good job with the photography!
  5. So much to see in this build, it feels like I discover new details everytime I look at these pictures! And I admire the work you've put into replicating all those sigfigs for this
  6. I really like your tower design, especially the roof! The birch tree is also nice, as well as the whole environment. As a purist, I am however a little bit less enthusiastic about the third-party parts but I must admit they look great
  7. Lovely vegetation, especially the palm trees are exceptional!
  8. Congratulations Ska!! If I had found it I would probably keep it and make some MOCs with it...but maybe sell it later, as I guess it will keep it's value quite nice Having been able to use such a rare fig in some MOCs would totally be worth the lost $ between mint condition and excellent (as at least I would be very careful to not scratch it) used condition.
  9. Nice work with the terrain! The shoreline looks really good, perhaps with exception for the hollow undersides of the snorted bricks in the sand. Would probably have looked better turned the other way or even with tiles "on top". Are there any pictures of the whole build? :)
  10. Sounds like true Kaliphlins! Where there is possibility for prosperous trade or adventures we will go :)
  11. Excellent parts use, especially the golden parts!
  12. Fantastic build! I'm glad you reposited it since I wasn't around when it was originally posted and still haven't taken the time to go through all the old builds... I probably like the carved wood details best, but the stone foundation and roof are top notch as well :)
  13. Nice interior, I love the game table!
  14. Looks promising! Can't wait to see more pics :)
  15. Excellent build! I like the bazaar feeling you have created overall and the level of detail with do many neat things to discover in the build :) Of course Kaliphlin merchants can judge the quality of coins!!
  16. Beautiful build, as always from you I might add! I especially like the wall and how it bends both horizontally and climbs the slope. And your minifig composition is brilliant! I agree that the holes in the road look somewhat weird (I really like the idea of holes in the old pavement though), on a build with this level of perfection I would probably have preferred to see the holes filled with snow in the form of white plates or tiles to the same level as the surrounding stone. Otherwise, trans-clear plates (with white or brown studs underneath) or tiles to show frozen water in some of the holes would possibly have looked great
  17. The best thing is to get started building and posting, especially combined with a good story you will see that people here will give you a lot of feedback and if you (like many of us here) are keen to improve your building and photo skills you will get lots of constructive criticism if you ask for that :) If you want to be able to try various color palettes and building styles I would say that Kaliphlin would be a good choice, but be warned: you might ending up starting to buy more tan bricks than you previously knew you needed ;)
  18. I agree, the magical effects are impressive :)
  19. Way to go, Ecc! Well deserved
  20. I have some sort of idea of an ancient stone fort guarding the top of the pass up on the plateau to the south and maybe some watchtowers etc, but then a semi-permanent settlement outside that with makeshift defenses. It could also be that the ancient fort is in ruins since it has mostly only been used as a toll gate, but recently been restored (or ongoing restoration and expansion) to it's original military function. I don't think that much of the fortification would be wooden, since there is not a lot of trees growing on top of the Great Escarpment and getting wood there would be hard. I have something like the citadel on Masada in mind, but only with a steep slope on one side and not on a free-standing plateau. However we do that I think the gate fort is the crucial point of the build but maybe not that easy to split into different parts for different people to build? But additional defences, the market town, possible makeshift defences around the town etc would be great to split in different builds.
  21. I'm not surprised that Emad sees business opportunities in such an illustrious gathering If you got the parts to build him, Sir Gideon would be happy to visit Mpya Stedor (since I will not be building any MOCs featuring him until earliest in August anyways...) Most important parts: CMF elf hair or Eomer helmet, lion knight torso or breastplate, gray or dark red arms, dark red cape. Maybe this should have been its own thread though...?
  22. Sounds like a reasonable rule. "Gate" is a name I've heard for that place, but maybe it was just a nickname among the traders. Another name I've heard among the traders for that place is "[someone's] Gate", but right now I fail to recall the name of that someone...I think he was the ancient hero who built the first gate fortress on the site? But it might also have some other official name, I wouldn't be surprised if it was in one of those strange tongues of eastern Kaliphlin.
  23. I seem to remember from my travels the city as a fortification guarding the top end of a steep and winding road cutting down into the Great Escarpent (to its base), does that sound familiar to you? On the south side of the fort there was at least back then a lot of trade going on between the merchants from the north and east, and the hardy caravan merchants from the south. Back in those days the tolls to bring your wares through that pass were not cheap, and I suspect it hasn't gotten any better with all the fighting around the Arkbri river and Queenscross which probably has forced many merchants to bring their wares through the pass further east instead. OoC: Does the city have a name already, or maybe we should give some suggestions and have a Kaliphlin vote about a suitable name for the city?
  24. I think I have heard something of a city there? It sounds like an excellent idea to show it to the world! Can you point it out on a map?
  25. So much to like in this build! I especially like the terrain with very innovative, yet appropriate, colors and level of detail, as well as the crane. I hope we will get to see a lot of interesting construction equipment designs during this challenge, and you have made a good start
