  1. I love your interpretation of Qarkyr, it really looks like a melting pot of influences and people from the east and west (and south?)!
  2. It is wonderful to see how good a builder you are becoming! This build is excellent with a lot of nice details to like The small cake is an example of really clever parts usage!
  3. Beautiful trees! And I like your swimming fish :) The border between trans-clear and blue water looks a bit too sharp to me though, maybe mix the border area a bit more? Anyway it's really nice to see more builds from you, keep buildings and improving your skills!
  4. I'm going to have some serious GoH downtime over the summer (away from my bricks) and probably a month or two after the summer (trying to crunch out my biggest build ever for a Swebrick exhibition in October). But I will try to stay active on the forum at least and maybe gear my Swebrick build a bit towards GoH if I have that in mind from the start ;) Count on me for Book II though!
  5. Exciting build and story! I think my favorite pic is the one where you see down the subterranean tunnel, dwarves in their natural element :)
  6. Actually it works best with a 1x2 cheese slope + tile at the bottom since it then fits exactly right without any gaps. It's actually perfect also without a 1x1 at the top for a shorter arrow slit (I've done this a couple of times), or with two 1x2 on top of each other. If the bricks with stud on the side is separated by two plates you can make a very nice long arrow slit, or a nice symmetrical slit with a crossing gap if a full brick separates the bricks with stud on the side. With a 1x1 cheese slope at the bottom it's not as easy to get right as it either collides with the studs of the brick below, or leaves a space if a tile is used "one plate lower".
  7. Wow, this is probably the quintessential Kaliphlin atmosphere you have captured here! Just perfect in the overall build and all those lovely details, I don't have a clue on what to start commenting on...there is just so much to like :)
  8. Nice wall and snowscape, and nice to see those gothic arches put to MOC use I think that the sand green and white go perfect together in the wall! Somehow I find elves and snow to be a bit of a new take on things, one I definitely like.
  9. Beautiful build, it really shows the splendor of Petraea! This gives me a feeling of Central Asian architecture (like Samarkand), which I think fits Kaliphlin very well!
  10. Beautiful ship! The deck and rigging are wonderful, as well as the color scheme. I have to agree though that the open bow looks a bit confusing. Looking forward to that!
  11. Always nice to see more of the Kaliphlin economy, keep it up!
  12. Lovely ruin and foilage! This tower reminds me very much of all those ruined tower houses (often half overgrown) which I saw all over the island when I was driving around in Ireland last year
  13. Fantastic landscape (cave?)! I have always viewed werewolves as solitary miserable figures, but you have proven that they are something of a civilization of their own...in their own way Are the wolfpack yellow minifigs werewolves in human form?
  14. Lovely eastern atmosphere you have created! The microscale building is wonderful, but what part is the lowest roof?
  15. The strange and wonderful customs of Kaliphlin still amazes this Avalonian born half-elf even after well over a century of travels here! Out of character: Fantasic idea and fun boat designs :)
  16. Fantastik rockwork, looks soo good in tan! And the foilage is also top notch :) A photography detail I iterate here as well is that is a good idea to put something behind the bricks when shooting (like vertical plates), to avoid cracks with visible light in the structure. Judging by the water flow, this is a tributary stream joining the Arkbri river. Probably coming from some springs in the desert (yes, there is quite a lot of water deep below the Kaliphlin surface as we get infrequent but heavy rain which the limited surface soil can't handle)?
  17. Impressive foilage, and the rock face with green on top works great! Looking forward to a picture of the full build :)
  18. Nice vignette! I like the tufts of grass growing in the sand the best, the green plates introducing some randomness to the grass is great!
  19. Nice scene, I especially like the color choices and the furniture! I also thought it was a decapitated head at first, but it is a really clever part use :)
  20. Great to see that the Kaliphlin Tour is sparking new ideas already! I think the ground is the best part of this build, and interesting to see the point-of-view from the tower
  21. The Dune Sea Heading north on our journey from the waterlogged marshes in the Akhenaten delta, where the Qar-Akhen river meets the Southern Ocean, the landscape quickly turns arid. Here we find the Dune Sea, with its great sand dunes stretching for leagues. In some places among the dunes there are sources of water so the area is not completely uninhabited, but the ever-shifting sands mean that the settlements usually have to be abandoned when they are swallowed by the dunes. One such settlement in the western part of the Dune Sea is depicted in the postcard below. The beauty of the landscape is usually enough to attract the occasional tourist. A less known highlight is that the sand dunes also offers great possibilities to ride wooden boards down the slopes, something that the local people have used as a means of transportation for hundreds of years. While maybe not as fast as skiing down the slopes of the Rakath Mountains, this offers southern Kaliphlin’s best opportunities for the speed enthusiast! Another painting of just the ruins and sand dune: Previous stops on the tour of Kaliphlin: Day 1 - The Withered Woods Day 2 - The Jungles of Gorr Day 3 - The Lone Mountain Day 4 - The Qar-Akhen Marshes
  22. Nice wall! I especially like the dark grey protruding parts and the wooden repairs, it really looks like rough logs where the bark has peeled off here and there. A tad too symmetric in my taste, maybe some 1x1 round plates in brown or tan would have made it even better?
  23. Great build, portraying a part of Kaliphlin I have longed to see (or build)! Those mushrooms are just perfect! Your description of the frogs is also top notch
