  1. Nice addition to the Kaliphlin fleet! I think the anchor design is a really nice detail, and the triangular sail works well for a southern vessel (but maybe a bit small for a ship of this size?). The minifigs look a bit too "recent" in my opinion, but as this is a fantasy world and not a recreation of an exact time period I think they work out ok as well :)
  2. By European standards that is a fantastic price...the recommended Swedish retail price for 9471 Uruk Hai Army is around $75 (!!). Fortunately, I was able to pick up a couple from the British Amazon store when they had it for sale for slightly less than £ 19 (= $ 30).
  3. I really like the change, when the colors don't change exactly with the geometry the transition between ground and cliff looks much better!
  4. Great build, especially the minifig compositions! The photography is well done, but maybe a bit too much light/overexposed in the middle of some of the pictures. Considering that you seem to have used direct sunlight, I think however you've done a great job with the photography! @CBB: Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's helpful for the rest of us as well. I think arches in general are a bit hard to integrate, especially in heavy mottled walls like this.
  5. I don't see any point in spamming the threads to compete in that way. But it's of course nice to see that your guild is active as well!
  6. There are so many fantastic things in Historica to discover (or stay away from!), I love seeing this side of Nocturnus. Great idea!
  7. Nice section, it is great to see the walls grow almost day by day! I like the small roof above the base of the stairs, how is it attached?
  8. Great to see a build from those parts of Kaliphlin as well!
  9. Welcome! I think the figs are what really makes this MOC stand out, for example something as clever as the Uruk-hai helmet for the executioner :)
  10. I really like the added cliffs, makes the whole build look more like something they have put up to improve something which used to be a simple cave entrance :)
  11. Thanks very much for the feedback, both positive and suggested improvements! I'm quite satisfied with my photo setup now (mostly shooting in the living room where I get tons of natural light this season in the afternoons, or using the white roof with a flash), even though I really could use a better camera. The small and outdated sensor of my old Olympus E-510 from -07 has its limits (read: is crap). However, somehow my brick budget always seems to make me keep this camera for just a bit longer all the time... I tried to make a slight bend on the smaller trees, but I probably need to use more force next time. The larger trees are supposed to be pines, and at least around here they grow very straight so the thought to bend them never really crossed my mind I can agree with your point that it feels like something that this build should fit in more in a story, and not as a standalone MOC. This was not really intended for GoH originally (it was a general "spring feeling build", inspired by running in the woods now in springtime), but I shot a couple of extra pictures with Kaliphlin guys added and figured it was decent enough to dampen the post-ch VI downturn in the number of MOCs posted I promise that my next build will be bigger and not a "3 hour build"!
  12. The headlight footsteps work great as they actually show the depression a minifig foot would make! Hmm...I wonder what piece would be suitable to seal the hole in the stud for a perfect solution?
  13. I almost never visit the frontpage, great job getting us who have joined the forum exclusively for GoH to crawl out of our sub-sub-subforum and see some more of Eurobricks And good job putting our builds on the frontpage!
  14. Nice digital build! I like the bridge the most, it really looks like it is built to withstand proper forces, I might borrow that support design sometime I like the size of the water weel as well, even though I think the "flaps" are a bit too thick, one or two plates would have looked better in my opinion. Going into details, the rendering seems to have some aliasing problems at the joints between pieces, are you resizing the pictures post-rendering? Or is it just that it might look better with a higher anti-aliasing in the rendering software?
  15. Nice build, I really like to see more of the dwarven culture of Historica! Contrary to Infernum, I really like the "icy" border you have created...feels very Mitgardian The old dwarf is just perfect
  16. Yes, this is very close to Avalonia. But Kaliphlin soldiers are of course not trespassing on Avalonian territory!
  17. I think we should encourage building on small scale as well, it's definitely not good if people get scared away by large challenge entries and think we scorn anything smaller than 32x32 You should regard being few in Nocturnus an opportunity to shape your own style (which you already have in my opinion) without having to compete with a ton of other builders building similar MOCs. And I also think Nocturnus has much more room for creative freedom than say Avalonia, I mean how much can you vary the green-grey-brown palette?
  18. I can think of a technique involving two 1x2 jumper plates and one 2x2 jumper plate at the bottom and then either leaving it as a 4-part pillar or filling in most of the gaps with snotted tiles/plates (if they fit). But doing an entirely flat-surfaced 2.5x2.5 stud pillar without any gaps sounds hard...
  19. Thanks! I don't know if I'm wrong, but I regard the climate in north-western Kaliphlin (north of Eastgate) maybe as something like the French atlantic coast. I know for a fact that there are pine forests there I suppose California is a good analogy as well, I'm just not as good at American natural geography...I just know that spending a winter too close to the great lakes was bone-chilling cold and that it can get too hot in Florida for someone used to mild summers
  20. I agree! This is just the thing we need more of in GoH to inspire new (and old) members to build and cooperate
  21. Nice build with a good action feeling! I also like the swamp very much, good job achieving a very organic feeling win all those different green nuances and details. Good job also promoting Guilds of Historica with a LCC build ;)
  22. Ok, good to know! It seems like it is only from sets released in my dark age, but I recently bought a used 7094-1 King's Castle Siege in good condition which should include Lord Damaximus' face if all figs are correct :)
  23. As far as discussions have gone so far it looks as it is still much up to us in the guilds to decide that, and I assume your voice will carry much weight in that decision!
  24. I would also be interested in joining in Ska, even if my building opportunities will be limited until August (and non-existent in July) I could try to make one or two smaller builds in June at least
