  1. I think so. But I have kind of a vision of historica being more fantasy castles than historical castles. I spent a day looking at photos of historical castles and my opinion of them was that most of them were just plain ugly. I really am kind of tired of war and destruction as we haven't hardly even started the building of Historica. There is so much more that needs to be MOCed. I think Historica can be a world where we can let our imagination free and build castles, cities and ships that are just plain stunning without having to worry (for the most part ) about structural integrity or engineering feasability. And if a member wants to take a break from building castles/and city environments, let them go on an expedition and discover lost ruins and civilizations. I think it is time for the Golden Age of Historica.
  2. And if your like me, I really don't feel like posting MOCs anywhere but GoH. I even pretty much abandoned my LEGO sci-fi plans so that I can devote more time to GoH.
  3. I like the charter idea. I think what some people are worried is that redcoats and bluecoats will begin to showing up marching down city streets brandishing muskets and hauling cannons I think the question isnt about bringing pirates into GoH but what era of pirates. And for the record, I'm on the side not wanting to see redcoats and bluecoats marching down the streets of Historica's cities. Edit: However I also don't want to limit my ship design to caravels and this being a fantasy world I dont see why it would be such a threat for me to build a galleon looking ship for Historica if it doesnt house cannons.
  4. I'm probably in the minority but I totally disagree. Rivalry might inspire more interest but from what I've seen it will be a lot of trashtalking and not an increase in MOCing. I think after challenge 6 the guilds should be dispanded and the current members of GoH united under 1 banner against a common enemy or even against LoCC. If Mitgardia went against Nocturnus, Nocturnus would be overwhelmed. There are a lot more active members in Mitgardia than Nocturnus. Guild rivavlry would probably work if there were more active members in GoH. As it is, lack of time seems to be GoH greatest enemy EDIT: Also, I might have missed something but I haven't seen anyone trying to push cannons and gunpowder in GoH. The question has been more like what LEGO elements are banned from GoH. EDIT 2: Upon further contemplation, I think MOCing rivalry would require the guilds to be fairly equal in member skills and time. Also I think that one of GoH main problems is that there are too many leaders that are absent a lot of time. GoH needs a leader whose first prioirty is GoH and has the time to devote to GoH. I think Sirens was an excellent example of what a leader should do when he doesnt have time. Find a great replacement. I would vote for Ecclesiastes anyday.
  5. Here is the top of my list ones with thumbs up are must haves. Tigers Cheetah/panther Pandas- Boar/warthog Racoon Reptiles; Frogs Turtles Lizards Birds; Penguins Owls
  6. I'm going with lions. I hate their masks but without them, they are my favorite faction. Eagles probably are second and wolves 3rd.
  7. This is truly excellent work! After seeing this, my ambition to enter the challenge has pretty much fizzled out. Not only are your builds perfect, but I think your story is perfect for the continuation of GoH.
  8. My thoughts on GoH chapter 2: 1. Call it GoH: The age of exploration- There are hundreds of islands off Historica's coast as well as a few areas on the mainland that have not been explored. I would suggest a Guild sanctioned "wildlife preserve" where members cannot build cities/towns but instead build ancient ruins/landscapes. Our cities need to be built up better. In fact I feel we might have too many towns as quite a few have not even been MOCed. 2. No member vs member combat- I think that in the end this would destroy GoH. Instead GoH needs a more ballanced guild leader controlled villain, one that does not have the armageddon magic powers of Revolword (in fact I dont think he/she should have any magic power whatsoever) but is cunning and has a host of minions at his/her disposal. Members should be forced to work together in order to keep in control of their cities/towns. thinking something like Cardinal Richlieu character. 3. Destructable technology/magic should be toned down- this is a fantasy land and cannons should do less damage than catapults/ballistas/magic and muskets should be far less accurate than crossbows. I have no problem with cannons and muskets being shown in MOCs although I myself will not be employing them. Main problem I have is magic. Revolword's world trashing elemental magic is far too powerful and I honestly think it kind of hurt Historica's story and should never be reintroduced. 4. Advanced technology should be acceptable as long as it is approved by the guild leaders- this is a fantasy world so anything is possible. However I think that technology should be closely overseen by the guild leaders as it can have world changing affects. For example a magic orb powered locomotive may technically be within reason but such a device would really change members perspectives of Historica. I suggest a technology permit system where members must request a permit if they wish to invent advance technology.
  9. Nice shop! I like all the characters you put in there and Zakon peeking over the roof
  10. Gratz on gettig TBB blogged! You have really done a great job so far and I really like that roof technique!
  11. Nice build! I really like the shape of the banks and river!
  12. I agree with kabel and NiceMarmot... This is an awesome character intro! Great job on all the MOCs! And welcome to Kaliphlin!
  13. Really great job on both the story and the MOC! I have another MOC or two built that will conclude this segment of the story. Won't have time until at least this weekend as am going out of town for a few days. Once Merith gets to safety it will be up to you if she goes on another adventure...
  14. lol, I really need to stop looking at these any more... the more I look at the sets the more tempted I am to get them all and my initial list of complaints seems to be getting smaller and smaller...
  15. Any of you Avalonians from the USA looking for and willing to trade Lions for them, I have 23 or so I want to trade out.
  16. The good faction has been growing on me and I actually am beginning to like them but something seems off about the bad dragon faction. I have to say they do look "bad" though unlike the green dragons... And I also have to say that I would have really liked the armor piece for the dragons if the emblem hadn't been so big.
  17. Up until last week I had been using cardboard trays which are now very flimsy from the way I've stacked them while building. I realized my orginization efforts were actually creating a greater mess so I bought 36 8x15 stacking storage bins to add to my 4- 6 bin storage units. I have tried all sorts of methods of sorting/storage from a king size white sheet which i tie the ends up and stick in large bin to mini sorting trays like the tackle boxes, With my new storage bins, I'm sorting by piece shape but I also keep similar shades seperate (old and new gray). Bricks are sorted like this: all 1x1s and 1x2s in one bin, all 1x3s and 1x6s in one bin, all 1x4s and 1x8s in one bin, any brick longer than 1x8 in another bin, 2x2s, 2x3s, and 2x4s in another bin. Any brick longer than 2x4 in another bin. 1x1 round plates mixed with contrasting colors: dark bley, orange, lime green, purple, light tan, and redish brown in one bin, etc.
  18. Thanks! I'm not completely satisfied but I had to work with a limited amount of bricks in certain colors. I think it turned out the best it could have though because I hardly have any more dark tan bricks left over from this build.
  19. I like the Squire Greisun character! Some good sandscaping and storytelling!
  20. Nice job! Its good to see some commerce MOCs!
  21. Really nice builds and story!
  22. Thanks! I'm glad you got the fairy tale feeling... its the feeling I wanted the MOC to portray.
  23. Thanks! Until I get my outdoor photoshop setup again, it would take me longer to photograph than to build the thing so I wouldn't be able to post anything if I wnated perfect pics Thanks! Kai should be building the next part then I will probably finish up with part 3 or 4. Thanks! I'm trying to find alternative gear for all the Chima figs and so far think I have succeeded quite well. Thanks! Thanks! Like I stated above Kai should be building the next portion.
  24. Really nice MOC! I especially like the construction touches you added.
  25. I really like how this turned out! I think you did a great job with the limited pieces you used.
