  1. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to reveal that info but I had assumed it was public knowledge....
  2. I would imagine that every guild other than Nocturnus will have pretty close to the same amount of challenges. Nocturnus will have more I imagine since it starts and ends Book II.
  3. Saw the awesome banner on the frontpage! Awesome work leaders!
  4. Updated my characters' info and pic in my first post. Also I have gotten wind that my brother may be joining GoH soon....
  5. You really got your rockwork down to a science! As usual another awesome build!
  6. Yeah I would have never know had Kai not mentioned it once.
  7. I wouldn't really worry about picking a guild based on the need for more builders as I'm sure all the guilds will say they need more builders. Pick the guild whose environment is most attractive to you and you feel like basing your main character out of...
  8. Yes, you got it... Welcome to Kaliphlin!
  9. This is great! I like how you have the house sinking into the ground.
  10. We have no need to steal other guilds members because we already have an awesome group here in Kaliphlin, but additions to our group are always welcome. As for Kai, Kai is also a male in the ninjago series which she got the name from.... Both she and her brother used Ninjago names for their eurobricks usernames.
  11. This could be debatable. If I buy from 3rd party vendors, that is money that I could have but won't spend on LEGO, while I can find plenty of Megablok accessories at yard sales, etc. for a lot cheaper than 3rd party vendors, etc. And those who buy Megablok sets tend to only buy Megablok sets while those who buy LEGO tend to only buy LEGO sets. How is Megabloks competition to LEGO in my case when I will not buy any of their sets yet I will pick up their accessories if I see decent ones at yard sales, etc?
  12. Temple of Ennoc by Fianat The Stone Hammer, Strivvian Blacksmith. by Scubacarrot
  13. Excellent job Captain Settle! Definately see an improvement here in your building.... Good to see you using a variety of different techniques and as for the tan section, it looks as if the building has had several additions through the years by different builders which often happenned in medieval times! Upon further thought, it however might have looked more realistic below the tudor style than above, not sure though.
  14. Well should there be any doubt... Masa chooses to remain in Kaliphlin. Besides, if I moved to another guild I would have to change my user name although I get a feeling that I would have no problem getting a name change quickly if I had volunteered to join another guild.... Oh and another thing... you may not see too much of me for a few months but I am still slowly but steadily building away for the glory of Kaliphlin. Edit: Character updates. Mikel Kalores remains my main character but a few other characters are going to have major influences in his life during Book II. As GoH Book II begins, Mikel Kalores also known as Masa of Kaliphlin becomes betrothed to the Queen of the the Dryadalum (commonly known as jungle elves). With this betrothal, he now has considerable resources at his disposal and even now has a personal elven tailor and armor smith. The elf Kucuk Kartal remains Mikel's closest friend and officiates as his body guard. Mikel has reaffirmed his Aslani faith hiding the fact that he has been magically fused with an elemental, while Bishop Jamon continues his attempts to spread the Aslani faith to all the guilds of Historica meeting unexpected success in Varlyrio among the Leander tribes. Being lionmen, the Aslani Lion God appealed to many of them and now many of the Leander are some of the strongest supporters of the Aslani faith. Among the most devoted is General Leovetus, who Bishop Jamon has entrusted control of a large part of the Aslani army. Meanwhile, Yesil the Grelf continues orchestrating his plans from behind the scenes. What is the endgame that the Grelf is aiming for? GoH Book II Updated Characters by Masa of Kaliphlin, on Flickr
  15. I have to say I agree with CBB on this even though my opinion doesn't matter as I'm not eligable to enter this mini-challenge anyway. I have a hard time understanding the point of distinguishing between clone brand and aftermarket parts. For example would Alt Bricks (I think they are the ones that make the colored leaves and stuff) be ok to use? I think they are in competition with LEGO although not on the same scale as say Megabloks. Also while I totally despise any clone brands for their lack of quality when it comes to bricks, I do have to admit that clone brands often times do a better job than LEGO when they make accessories for their minifig substitutes (note: this is something that I think LEGO has begun to improve on). So to sum up my thoughts, if you are going to be LEGO purest, be a total LEGO purist but if you are going to allow some non-LEGO parts what is the difference whether they come from large scale or minor competitors of LEGO? Wouldn't it be better to just specify the parts that are ok to be non-LEGO such as minifig accessories? Just my two cents on the subject as it seems that the LEGO community at times is a bit hypocritical on this...
  16. Great idea! That tree stump is awesome but like Lord Vladivus said, irregular bases seem to be the way to go if you dont use a frame.
  17. Great build! I particularly like the cliff (that is IMO the best cliff technique), snow, and rocks even though you said you didn't focus on them. The tree is awesome as well. The dragon is quite unique and adds some comic relief to the story, but I think it could use some improvement, one area for example would be the feet. I'm extremely critical of brickbuilt creatures and have only been impressed by a select few I have seen. For example while I like this fell beast, I'm not a fan of this one. I'm not a fan of official Lego brickbuilt creatures either for the most part as I feel they are way to "blocky" and while I like the castle theme molded dragons I really dislike the ninjago brickbuilt dragons. So the point of this longwinded explanation is that I'm very opinionated on brickbuilt creatures so take my crtiticism with a grain of salt.
  18. It looks like you have some great builds here. But I do agree with Captain Settle that it would look better if it was combined together into a single MOC and so that we can get a better view of your build (I know it can be quite a chore) experiment with different light and camera settings until you are able to get clear pics.
  19. That was Mikel Kalores talking. He likes elaborate castles. Masa on the other hand can't stand the cold, so a warm Mitgardia is a dream come true should he ever have to travel to the north.
  20. You really did a great job with the presentation and if Kaliphlin citizens are allowed to sneak a vote in, you got Masa's!
  21. Excellent builds and nice story to go with them! Also really great design of the statue!
  22. Really great build SK! I like all the details and having it able to open by hinges was a brilliant surprise.
  23. An excellent scene depicting the fight with the worm. I think the final pic is my favorite!
