Heroica RPG - Quest #49: The Light That Reveals Everything
Etzel replied to Etzel's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Maybe a little." "No, not really." "Not at all." "He's our cleric and teacher, I don't really know much more about him except he served in one of the battalions before. I wouldn't say we are close but he is the one of the staff that knows most about the life of a cleric and can be good to talk to when you have personal problems. Priestess Mandrea is also nice but a bit to spirituel, Jorke is more down to earth and can give good advices. I think Emiria and Jorke are the only left handed here at the convent." "Yup, that's right!" The party then returns to the sancturay where they meet with the priestess. "Have you got a suspect yet? I'm afraid we won't have much time before Mandric's 2nd Battalion will be here." -

"He never hurt me, but I had this uncomfortable feeling whenever he was around. I wouldn't like to have been left alone with him, but luckily that never happened. The mark on my chin is from when I was training with sir Helmer the day before yesterday. He doesn't hold back even during practice." -

"That bearded man in your party. I saw him standing over the body." "Probably sir Helmer since he never got along with sir Mandric, but I got no evidence for that." "Maybe Ansar. He never liked sir Mandric much and he has a bad temper when provoked." "Fat Mats could have done it. He is good with knifes and maybe he was mad that sir Mandric keeps drinking all his beer." "They don't really talk much. I think they know that neither one of them likes the other and therefore tries to interact as little as possible." "I don't want to talk to you!" Sira hides behind Najdalena. "Stay back! If Sira doens't want to talk to you you have to accept that." -

"No, why would we? If somethings wrong we speak with priestess Mandrea." "Or Jorke the cleric, he is good to talk with too." -
All the Smoke Bomb does is allowing the heroes to flee from the battle. Whether they can rejoin the battle or something else happens is not stated in the rules but up to the QM I believe. Maurice once again heals the wounded heroes, including himself. "I think we should move on to the church. I'm not entirely sure what kind of building that is, but I guess it's some kind of temple. We should go there and cleanse our souls to be ready for the next battle, and we could search that area for the next amulet as well."

"It happens sometimes. I don't see why sir Mandric would know or care about my sleeping habits." "I can confirm that Sira sometimes has trouble sleeping and usually goes to the sanctuary when that happens." The novices all shake their heads on these questions. -

"I told you, I was going to pray in the sanctuary. It's nothing strange with that, whenever I can't sleep I do it. I haven't heard anything about a trial but maybe it's because he is a drunkard and get take care of his duties?" "I haven't heard anything about a trial either. Maybe he got caught taking bribes or something like that?" "I know nothing about that." "Me neither. I think sir Mandric was a great Paladin, some evil enemy probably did something and blamed him." -
Maurice saw how his party members fell around him while he was busy defending himself. The decision to stay and fight seemed even more foolish now. With their original party leader being knocked out, Maurice spoke up to lead the remaining heroes. "Lady Nerwen, miss Mizuki, I think we can all see where this battle is going. It will give us nothing to keep wasting our time and efforts here while there is work to be done elsewhere. Lets throw a smoke bomb and retreat, bringing our unconscious friends with us."
-
Yes, you do. If you guess right you'll get the higher reward though.
-
"I'll attack Quarnoth from the front row." Maurice had heard the raider's explanation of the decision to stay for a second battle, but there was no time to discuss it anymore.

The party walks over to the novices dormitory where they find all of the girls. -
Sure!
-
"I'll heal myself and all my friends who has been wounded in the battle." Maurice was pleased that the battle was won, but he didn't really understood why the party decided to stay here when more enemies were coming. This would have been the perfect time for a tactical retreat.

"Oh, they different opinion on a lot of things. Priestess Mandrea never thought the High Counsel did anything of use and often criticized sir Mandric of not doing enough when he met the other in the counsel. Sir Mandric was a strong speaker for the abolition of orc slavery and that the Order should make it a priority goal, but the priestess thought there where other more important things to focus on, like the education and upkeep of all the institutions of the Order. They also fought sometimes over sir Mandrics drinking, the priestess even stopped me from serving him alcohol sometimes. But as I said before, they always seemed to solve their problems. I guess it's a siblings thing, to forgive each other quick and not hold grudge over passed things, but I'm an only child so what do I know." -

"Najdalena and Jossin is known to get in fights with each other from time to time. A suspect for the murder? Well, to be honest I don't really care. But it is suspicious that you guys arrived here just before the murder, it really is. Not that I'm implying anything but I do know my colleges but not you." -
A tip. Decide who you think is the most suspicious suspect and bring him/her to the priestess. But make sure you discuss first who you want to bring, you might not get a second chance. And I've justed finished an exam that has taken alot of time from me the last week so I should be more active here from now and making sure we end the quest in time.

"The novices? I don't think so, sir Mandric was a pretty big guy. Besides, the novices aren't the violent kind. Well, at least not Sira and Emiria." -
Maurice repeats his attack.

"Oh, you are still investigating? Well, I'll do my best to answer your questions but I'm a little busy too. Ansar is a good guy, he hasn't killed anyone. Not since he came here to the House of Ennoc's Children anyway. He has been able to retain his temperament here so far. I've never seen anything but quarrel between sir Helmer and sir Mandric. Always at each other at the training grounds. Misconduct? What are you talking about? I never saw it myself, but I've heard he was more keen to spend time with Sira then she was. Sir Mandric and the priestess had their problems now and then, but they always worked them out. Family came first." -
Interesting. This theme looks quite promising with good minifigs and some interesting parts so far. I can't understand the new revolvers though, what's wrong with the old ones? The new ones are hardly any different except less versatile because they can't be hold by the barrel. Love the tomahawk, I want a dozen of those. And new horses are always welcome.

Maurice once again attacks the Siege Cart from the front row. He can vaguely hear that some sort of dispute is going on but he decides to focus on the battle.

The party returns to the kitchen where they find the chef, Fat Mats, preparing the dinner. "No no no! I can't take it anymore! You where late for dinner yesterday and lunch today, and now you are at least 2 hours too early for today's dinner! Will you never learn the time of the meals?!" -
I seriously doubt TLG would make a special mold for Anduril when we already have a new and perfectly good longsword. What's the point of two almost identical swords that nobody but AFOLs and other fanatics will care about?

The party returns to the private quarters of the convent and to the bedroom of priestess Mandrea and reads the letter that they found on the table earlier. To the High Counsel of the Paladin Order I have received your message and read it. Your trial against my brother is nothing but a part of the internal conflict of the higher ranks of the Order. I don't intend to get involved with your scheming and will stay neutral during the time. Sir Mandric has not been seen anywhere near the House of Ennoc's Children for several months and I don't expect him anytime soon. Sincerely, Priestess Mandrea Melifano of the House of Ennoc's Children -
"I'm on it, lady Nerwen." Maurice attack the Siege Cart from the front row.
