  1. The mineshaft rock work seems really good, but the lighting makes it difficult to get a good look. The inner chamber and story are great though! You took a relatively boring subject and made a nice Moc out of it.
  2. All this talk of ‘taking advantage’ and ‘gaming the system’ had me curious if there was a rule change I missed. Nope; you still can’t win BoBS. Having the most dbs means diddly-squat. There is no EGS champion’s trophy. The object of the whole thing is to have fun with your bricks. I honestly don’t care if you sail your dear departed grandma’s (god rest her soul) MOC of Roman galleon, manned by 200 hundred sweaty tanned muscle-bound pleasure slaves, that she built in 1986. Whatever turns your crank. It really doesn’t affect my game experience at all. In my opinion, this whole discussion borders on the ridiculous.
  3. Well, this was a lovely little surprise. That is quite a nice ship you've built, but those sails are what really set everything off. I'm a bit envious.
  4. It is both sad and amusing that you lynched the only new player on the first day of a mafia school. Not sure what to make of that.
  5. For sake of clarity, I captured two unknown faction/pirate attackers last October - class 3 Silver Surfer (now the FTA Fluttering Petal armed trader) and class 5 Marvel (unmocced presently). The latter has never shown up in the account page - I always assumed these were just a "free license ticket" tbh and treated them as such. I guess I'll stop that practice. Also our internal SR discussion had Professor Thaum & the FTA ending up with the captured Thunder, as loss compensation. You and I should probably have a private discussion about that one.
  6. Wow! I love the dynamic posing of it, and the billowing sails well executed.
  7. @Capt Wolf We’ll take that bit of good luck. Follow up question. We lost the FTA Gargoyle due to... circumstances. Due we still pay the upkeep for her sailing this MRCA?
  8. @Capt Wolf You have a double entry for the trade ship FTA Redtail that carries through the data tables (the root cause is me because I got the initial form entry wrong and had to resubmit ). Can you clarify whether it made anything this month or not?
  9. Without knowing what bricks you have available, I normally worry about critiquing. It can easily devolve into ‘buy bricks’ which is never helpful. But here goes anyway. i) I like the fact you made the effort to break up the wall with textured bricks. It shows you’ve learned a technique. ii) The carrot rows are bang on and a good representation. Potential improvement for next time: iii) Everything is aligned squarely - this is a “trap” I fall into to. For rural/natural settings, if you can build parts of out of alignment, they look more convincing. In this case, if you had built the house on a plate floor, then set it down on top of your ground at a slight angle (using 2x1 jumper plates for example), the scene would look more natural. This would likely mean your ground would be 2 plates thick. iv) If you have the bricks, try and experiment with a non-rectangular ground base. If gives things a more organic look. Prof Thaum’s recent grog shop is a great example for this. v) The roof was the low point for me. Once again, I don’t know what you have on hand, but I would have gone with a different colour: black or red (ceramic tile). Ideally you’d want it textured, if you can. A great rule of thumb is natural surface is stud showing while manufactured surface is tiled or textured. vi) Last thing: why no windows? I still like the moc. It’s a cute little carrot farm. And I hope I don’t come across too critical; I’m just passing the same advice I got when I started.
  10. Sorry. I turned off my email notification a while back, so I missed your post. I’m a bit busy for the 2 weeks anyway, but I’ll be happy to spectate and speculate for this one.
  11. I love the detail on the sail. A great touch.
  12. The power drill in the row boat is a bit of an odd choice, but an interesting scene nonetheless.
  13. I very dark and foreboding colour scheme for your religious (fanatic) ship. I like it! It is a build to be appreciated for the small details (incl. that pegasus ofc) but it's a pity you never hoisted an inch of canvas.
  14. Please refrain from making statements for us @Bregir. Your opinion has no bearing outside your faction on such matters, and I for one do not appreciate the meddling. @Bart Bastion is still the nominal SR capital, so feel free to build there. Unfortunately @MKJoshA has been rather busy on the Star Wars forum and hasn't set up our monthly internal discussion thread. Hopefully he'll get to that soon and you can bounce ideas off of us then in private.
  15. Sorry, I can't tell you. It is trade secret that has nothing to do with being over tired and trying to apply logic to an illogical situation.
  16. Glad you guys liked it. I have to admit I cringed a bit at the last photo. You can really tell which of those white bricks have been with since I was a kid; the yellowing and chipping is pretty noticeable.
  17. Ayrlego, your sense of colour and polish show through once again. And that fish hook technique - consider that "borrowed".
  18. I don't know if it is my eyes playing tricks on me, but the hull somehow appears dark olive green to me in all of one of the photos. It's a striking combination with the red and forest green highlights. Regardless, you've ended up with a nice little ship out of it.
  19. Well, they say there is a fine line between madness and genius... It is a well thought out and gorgeously clean MOC. I'm bloody envious. You have really set a high bar for yourself (and for us poor slobs) to follow. Great job!
  20. That is an awesome build with a lot of attention to details. Great job. I will admit though that seeing the wolfpack shield & flag made me smile, because I always thought that sigil look rather rat like.
  21. Wow. You are quite prolific. It is a beautiful design. is that a caterpillar track linking to the bowsprit?
  22. The Free Traders Association has established an office in Fuerte Unido at Pionese House. (small commerce)
  23. Crisis can bring opportunity. While their ships were detained by the Eslandolan government in February '618, the FTA captains took it upon themselves to find lodging more comfortable than the dockside inns. Using the profits they had made in port, they purchased a small estate known locally as Papaver House - after the distinct red flowers cultivated in the garden. Not only did this serve as housing for the captains while the bureaucratic fracas played out, it was also decided it would be a suitable location for a new trade office. Needing a factor to run the office, the Sirrus' First Mate Edgar Marquez was selected. He had faithfully served under Captain Preston dating back to their days as pirates, but taking a splinter during a battle this past October had severely hampered his mobility. Rather than cash him out, this gave the former Eslandolan privateer a regular stipend and a new purpose. And since Papaver House was opulently appointed (in order to more easily deal with the rich merchant class of the town), his life would be one of wealth that he had never would have dreamed of. ==/==/== This is the second in my series of FTA satellite offices, and in this case I tried to mimic the architectural style of the Brickwall Memorial Park. The style was actually a lot of fun to try out and is very striking in real life. While I am happy overall, the exterior pictures are not great (I hope to redo them later this week), and I only had 11 of the dark tan brick facade pieces; I wish I had more to use as an accent. And I can't forget to mention that my proud 7 yo did the gardening and was insistent that I mention it. Some further story below:
  24. Yep. That jumped out at me too. Very creative. It's a lovely vessel overall ofc.
