Unfortunatelly when they start to work their whole World (illusion) clashes in front of their eyes and what is worse, they usually loose 10+ years of their precous lifes... on the bright side you had priceless time with your grandaughter -

Our pupils just look how to be activists (to sell fog and live like a king; and do nothing) and no manual labour at any costs...if teacher or professor asks them to solve some task they accuse her / him of violating their basic rights (probably in their heads is laziness one fundamental human rights) -

Since you have a bit of problem where to put CAT, where will you put (on display) Titanic? At the bottom of artificial lake? Just wondering since I also have lack of space, so I'll swich to smaller scale models (most likelly) -

The axle 5L ftom Ford is to big for that; in your scale overall width should be 17-18 studs, so enjoy calculations... New short suspension arm is real blesding, but look like you could make narrower axle with reduction hubs. -

...or simplest solution (as usual with Lego); bottom rechargible unit that uses left side output for left track, right side for right track and central for suoerstructure turning; upper can use same 3 outputs for excavator arm control (it has 3 main functions)... -
