  1. from my experience you can make a bit longer life for axle connectors if you take a closet look to axles - usually axles should be put inside connector from one side where "hole" at the end is smaller...From one side usually axle goes harder inside axle connector...I hope that you understand what I mean, otherwise I'll try to make photos of axle
  2. I know that plastic is very fragile, but even LEGO could solve (my) problem if they have made this part with axle profile until end, and not half a stud before end (or was this also a strength issue)...or just simple to make 2,5 studs long axle...but I don't wan't tho turn this topic into this topic.
  3. I believe you that, but I have not specifically good experience with 3rd party parts so I'm just "publishing" my thoughts.
  4. ...and not to worn out so easily...if you're lucky that they do no break
  5. to make modern (even actual version) is a good promotion and it is cool when you manage to make something with technic parts (parts are usually great for more functionality when you make 10 or more years older models than parts used...) Good idea to build more up to date model if you ask me.
  6. I'm working on one model so (selfish from me) this kind of differential will be more than welcome to make narrow portal axes for model in 1:18 scale. On daily basis I see beautiful small MOCs that are just crying for engine and drive, so this is really shame that our members make something what is actually unfinished business and big models are "big responsibilities", clumsy, very hard to operate manually (I'm making manual models because LEGO (and other electrical) motors are getting on nerves my wife and my pet...) Just imagine how this beauty would be cool with four wheel drive
  7. moved. Thanks for suggestion.
  8. First of all very sorry to bump into some older topic, but reading all those ideas and wishes about new parts, I have some ideas too which might be interested to someone and perhaps inspiration or idea for LEGO designers to develop such parts (sorry but I have no possibilities to make graphic representation for ideas listed below) thin connectors that will enable combination of two gears 12 tooth double bevel with half a stud space between pin holes... ...this part only one stud narrow with just one axle hole at the side and space for two thick beams inside... 12 tooth and 20 tooth double bevel gears to work with driving rings like this one ...combination of universal joint and gear with 8 tooth differential with 24 gear just 3 studs wide differential like this but 2 studs wide to fit inside this axle 2,5 studs long... smaller portal axle hubs etc...
  9. question is only does capacity of this bucket is enough? I know that It is not for business purposes, but whole idea of model in general is to show as much similarities with original as possible (not mentioning that models are actually for functional testing...). Whatever you decide I'll be watching progress from time to time. I'm just curious
  10. ...despite April joke, If you are so sure that you are annoying , you can make "promotion" to "annoyment master" instead of Raffle master
  11. and I can use them for Unimog axles that would be much more narrow - about 2 studs than current possible. I've used shapeways parts but they were to fragile, so I've become something like purist...
  12. You're right, I thought that tread was renamed. It would be very nice that admins put this post in correct tread. My apologize
  13. Yeah, Unimog tires are nice solution
  14. Doug, I think this is a great idea for such unusual project
  15. that was obvious at the first sign - "Avant" model with 4 Olympic rings (now in white) and car manufacturer that made probably best 4 wheel drive - Quattro now I realized that you made also one more great thing - special universal joint with axle . Why didn't LEGO make such universal joint...
  16. That is why forums like this exist, to present own masterpiece, to make it better, and what is the most important to learn something new
  17. sadly LEGO does not produce such realistic tires do you have to use 3rd party ones Nice start
  18. ...can someone put those tires on original set to see how it looks like PLEASE. I was looking to bus this set but wondering how does it look with linked tires THANK YOU
  19. @julesvincent I agree with you completely.
  20. ...if you need a vomiting or vertigo, or perhaps when dentist want to save expanses on anesthesia...
  21. Nice little model (now imagine one with proper V8 (LPE))
  22. I know I'm a bit late, but really great model that can go along with Arocs. Specially with crane combination...
  23. What to say than - really great model, the only one thing that I can suggest is to use this part in light bluish gray color
