Sigfig and Black Falcon Decals
Starwars4J replied to Starwars4J's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Ah, I see what you mean. Basically an outline so the crest doesn't look unbalanced? I could try that, though I kind've like the look now :-D -
Sigfig and Black Falcon Decals
Starwars4J replied to Starwars4J's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Correct, they were Little Armory Great Helms Actually, the middle two were the only ones with tears (one silver and one black). It may not look it, but applying a decal to those uneven surfaces is hard :'-( Well, on the heads I applied a clear coat of krylon, on top of decal setting solution. Haven't done the euroarmor with krylon yet, as I don't want to make them too permanent (in case I decide to redo them). It must be the lighting, I didn't photoshop them, and it's just a normal blue helmet -
Knockoff/Clone/Imitation Brand Pirate Sets
Starwars4J replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think he might mean, he doesn't want to link to the auction since he doesn't want the competition :-P -
Hey, so I finally got my decals from Kaminoan, who was extremely patient and helpful with a total noob like me 8-| Anyway, here's a sigfig I've been working on for awhile. It's by no means absolute and final, meaning I'd still appreciate feedback. I'm thinking MAYBE make the eyes a bit larger...though in the picture it looks like the eyes are really high up, I think that's just the angle. In person it looks fine in comparison to the mouth and hair. The eyes are just a bit too small I think But for my first custom decal, I'm really pleased with it! And here's some black falcon knights and generals I've been waiting to pull off I really need to get better at applying decals...but it came out pretty well. I especially like the way the black knights look (the silver ones are generals). The knight helms are LA greathelms. Also, for the hell of it, here's another rebel I made, who might actually fit in a post-apoc world nicely (not like I'm going into the genre though) C&C welcome! Thanks for looking

Happpy Birthday to Invaderjes, Mr. Mandalorian and Hinckley

At first I made you a cookie...but that didn't go as planned: Then when that failed I tried to make you a cake...but that met with similar disaster :-X Sorry :-$ Happy Birthday, all of you! -
PNSA AT-14 Amoladora De la Mierda artillery tank
Starwars4J replied to Chuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting design, though the green feels kind've thrown in. There's no other green to indicate any sort of colorscheme, so it looks a bit out of place. Similarly the sideways EF sticker looks a little weird, especially at that scale. The main gun and missiles look good though -
Actually UV light doesn't penetrate solid colors. That's why you might have seen those milk containers that are just black jugs? That's to keep the UV out. Solid-colored paper cartons do the same thing, but those opaque containers let the UV right in, which can spoil the milk

Brickshelf FIND: Reuse of juniorized airplane parts
Starwars4J replied to natelite's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ah, that was made by Professor Whateverly, an admin over at classic-space.com. It was truly an ingenious design! I have my own design I plan on using for that part :-P Peace and Praises, Professor Wh- ~Starwars4J X-D (little inside C-S humor) -
Chroming tends to be a really expensive process if done right. I believe BF sends them to a company to do it well. It's hard to do it on your own, but I believe you need to set up some sort of vacuuming apparatus which is itself a chore. I think the cost tends to be around $20 per piece but I could be way off

Nice entry, *yoda*! Love the expression on your face, and I already said I'm really envious of all those dark blue parts! I know what I'm getting when I hit the event PaB X-D It's nice and crowded too! Only thing that would've been better was you pushing someone off the dock in your rush to get to safety :-D :-D

You're making me afraid to show you pics of my WIP SHIP now 8-| (plan on taking pics today) I don't think doug will be able to see this anymore anyway though, so I'll close this
-
No, it's been mentioned by some that they had the larger guns in their sets rather than the smaller ones. Naturally they need to ship out replacement guns, and that can end up costing a lot if they have to do it in large numbers. I doubt it's gone for good already :-P (or at least hope not...)

I agree...that's really not a great attitude to have, and not one if you plan on staying around |-/ As for the MOC it's wonderful, though I'm more an admirer of the landscaping than the tower itself (which is also really nice). What can I say? I'm a sucker for landscaping *wub* Great job with great attention to details!

Doug, just because people see it doesn't mean everyone will comment. I saw you say this in your other thread too, and trust me, you'll get more responses if you don't say things like that ;-)

Honestly you can try getting just a very thin rag and try placing that inbetween the MOC and the lightsource. I mean VERY thin, since even an ordinary rag would block most of the light. If you have any stockings that might work well too. I think it looks a lot closer to what you were talking about! We just need to get the light to be less harsh on the ground Ah, sorry! I used the evil word :-$
-
What you might want to try is to soften the light by not using a flash, and instead using a secondary light source with an opaque screen in front of it, not so opaque though as to not allow the light through. It tends to soften the light, and is what's used on models often times to give a brightness with a dark background. But make sure to surround it with light on all sides, I think it was said that a light is shining on it from behind, because just the back is lit...the sides are dark! To tackle this problem, either use some reflective surfaces, or a few more lights. Another option is to take a pic of the knight all lit up separately, and to shop it into a pic of the black background, though when you take a pic of the black background/castle, make sure to shine a light on it to replicate the effect of the light coming OFF the knight onto the castle. Hope this helps! :-)

Bricklink Trusted Sellers list
Starwars4J replied to Dragonator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I knew it was already on it, BM already went on about the coupon :-P I figured two members who recommend a store should show that it's a good store. Maybe use a *y* for each time it's been recommended? Just a thought. -
Bricklink Trusted Sellers list
Starwars4J replied to Dragonator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Any idea what happened to A Slim Chance? It got closed today and the minimum order is $1000...is this to keep people away while there's restock or something? I've ordered from them before, for an order of $30 so something changed :-D For me I have to recommend Magicbricks For extremely rare parts, and fast shipping Missing Brick For their fast shipping, always offering a discount to repeat customers (though I wish the coupon lasted longer...), and great bulk lots Shop & Save For incredible customer service. So far only these three stand out. I've had good experiences with other stores, but these three stand far out -
Well duh but it looked like he was talking to me and I'm east coast

I could care less (:-P)

Was that ever actually available though? For a long time it was "coming", but never seemed to actually ever be in stock. I don't remember it actually being sold anywhere

What tie? 8-| Great entries everyone! -
Guys, let's try and keep it somewhat to the MOC, okay? This isn't a political debate forum, nothing good comes from arguing politics, when nobody is willing to change their minds. Screaming at them won't help :-P Also, communism is an economic system, not a form of government.
