Pirates Teamwork Contest - Entry Overview Topic
eurotrash replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
eurotrash and Oirad 72's entry http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92461 -
[pid][/pid] 245D Team eurotrash/Oirad 72 are proud to present their combined ex-pat Brit/Italian entry to the Pirate Teamwork Competition. We decided to go for a set-based approach - something that Lego could produce, sets with playability and strength and we agreed to update the classic Pirate feel. So, strap your Parrot to your shoulder, shiver your timbers and please enjoy our contributions - The Slippery Eel Tavern and Fort Degas. The Slippery Eel Tavern by Oirad 72 This notorious Tavern is set on a busy Jetty. It's a den of thieves and cutthroats and any Redcoat that wanders down here better be on the lookout. The set comes complete with a rowboat, cargo-crane and Mermaid. Inside the Tavern there's a fully equipped bar area, steps up to the second floor storage room and a doorway through to the upper deck. But it looks like a junior Redcoat is questioning the Innkeeper "What do you know about smuggling?", he's asking. But the Innkeeper is afraid and has pulled the pin, the trapdoor opens and the Redcoat tumbles into the mouth of the waiting crocodile! The upper deck and crane with some very effective textures and colors on the wall. The locating Technic pins that enable the two sets to be combined. Fort Degas by eurotrash This set comes complete with a Seagull stolen from the Parisian Restaurant. It attached to the Tavern via the Technic pins in the Jetty and hidden in the rock. It has open backed access to the Entrance Room, Hall, Dungeon and Tower. And the roof comes off for additional access. "This Rock wall is interesting. I wonder what's behind here" "Get in the Dungeon you Pirate scum" "But don't worry - I'll set you free!" Here's a short youtube video showing the mechanics for opening the Treasure cave and removing the Dungeon wall. Thanks for reading. We hope you enjoyed our entry! eurotrash/ Oirad 72

This MOC started life as a 16-wide Bar (from Brickcitydepot's excellent plans), then morphed into a 32-wide, then got reworked into a corner lot, then got re-skinned with a couple of Sponge Bob sets and finally it looks like this... A three story fun-palace of adult beverages and top tunes! The ground floor has some ultra-cool non-linear walls and a submarine door as an exit. The awnings are from a 9V Railway crossing set from the 90's. And beware of the wall octopus when you're using the payphone! The top floor has a roof top Bar Back to the ground floor - with it's detachable front! "We're OK as long as he doesn't play Public Image Limited's Flower's of Romance.... again" There's a very strict door policy... "It says here No sporting clebs, No men in wife-beater T shirts and No backpackers. I'm sorry gentlemen, but you can't come in" But the party is in full swing on the top floor! "Oi! That stupid cephalopod stole my drink!" The SNOT headphones are held together with a couple of.. Anyway I hope you enjoy it and criticisms, comments and ridicule most welcome!

WIP LDD Model Railway Module _ Level Crossing & SIgnal Box
eurotrash replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Looks good, and I just have a minor question but shouldn't the Signal box be swung round 90 degrees so that the main window side is parallel to the tracks?- 13 replies

Impressive! Great colour-combination and a good use of textures on the facade. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Very striking facade! Looks impressive.

Good looking stone-work and some really well done crosses.

Lovely! There's some understated classiness about this build. It just looks so good and I think could be a real set. Excellent job!
-
Superb! Really well done with plenty of detail to enjoy. Thanks for sharing it with us!

What an expansive build with some excellent detailing! The SNOT lettering is spot on I really liked the panoramic Google Street View image - though you should have pixelated the minifigs faces to preserve anonymity Great job!

Superb!

In the video on the set boxes you can see the outline of the tracks you can create. On the Passenger train there's 16 Curves and 8 straights - that's enough for a decent oval. On the Freight train there's 20 Curves, 8 straights, a Left hand switch and a Right hand switch - enough for an oval and a passing lane. The station comes with 4 additional straights. Seems like a good mix to me.

It looks like - as a range - it has great possibilities for FOLs of all ages. I see the Friends influence, the obvious modular influence and the City lineage. I'm stoked, but as others have commented you're either going to need a few of these sets or supplement it with your existing inventory to make it fit. I'm eager to see the price point for these sets and the alternate builds, but assuming their not outrageous then one-and-half thumbs up!

MOC: Old Kamensk’s Ironwork Headquarters
eurotrash replied to viracocha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Clean lines, some nice techniques and a good representation of the original building! Good job! -
Looks excellent! I can't wait to see it in real bricks, but the other commenters are right - it needs a Control Booth.
-
Excellent facade and those windows and shutters look fantastic. And I love the interior - there's a lot to enjoy especially the metal detectors - that was a good detail to include and the judge's bench looks just right and imposing! Great job my friend.

This Train theme is having a bumper year! I think all the sets so far look impressive!
