  1. I'm happy with what is available in South Florida but believe TLG could use a third store in South Florida. I'm feeling Dolphin Mall. LEGO's duplicity in certain metro areas is no surprise. I guess when likening them to say, Gap, Sony, etc.
  2. Thanks guys! @Redimus This was actually 260 miles from me as well, I'm in the south part of the state while the members are scattered in the center of the state. Not many shows or displays that I get to visit each year, maybe 1 to 2 at best.
  3. I believe it's a larger version, though the owner also has the Employee exclusive and it was somewhere on static display. From what I heard he paid quite handsomely for it. Thanks! I agree it's massive. We run from yard to yard. Some will loop around some will be stopped and others will be kicked out.
  4. Hi friends, Just wanted to share some video from one of the larger local train shows in Florida where Greater Florida LEGO Users Group put together a massive display with a replica of Downtown Tampa, FL as well as many suburban and rural scenes. Hope you guys enjoy!
  5. It is a shame. Probably because the parts aren't all lousy anymore.
  6. Love it! won't forget the HO Scale Life Like model. Well done and highly detailed.
  7. I think any digital LEGO takes away the fun from real LEGO. I never got a Fusion set and do not plan to. Your daughter might have a different opinion on this so that's just my opinion and it's perfectly fine if she prefers the digital. However, it does have several really nice parts, per Brickset. There may be some backwards compatibility with previous sets but the foot print is likely limited and so would be the palette. With that money you can get something more practical like the beach house (41037 I think) for $39.99 USD (step up but WORTH IT!) and the Juice Bar (41035) for $30 USD. High play value in both and otherwise beautiful sets. The part versatility in 21208 doesn't speak much for, say having a building with many minifig/minidoll friendly accessories and details as opposed to the two I mentioned.
  8. I love it! It's a set great for AFOLs. Very dense and packed in detail. Might be one of the few MBs that I actually decide to get.
  9. Nice MOC! I like the detail. Very fitting for a beach scene!
  10. Designing new traffic lights for my renditions of South Florida with flat silver poles. Wanted to throw in a video of the old standard for your comparison, this standard originally dated back to '07.
  11. Still getting my second cup counted, but the fall selection in its entirety was at Aventura, and on top of that, DkRed 1x2. Happiest camper ever. Could hardly keep to getting two cups. It's just great they have tan 2x2 tile, works like a charm for some projects I'm doing.
  12. There'll be a way to pull it off. Drop the side walls, just go with the stylistic design and there's a 16 stud footprint for that.
  13. The hair salon is screaming Art Deco. Love the solid lavender in the house too. Nice line, really considering going broke for those buildings.
  14. Wouldn't mind it myself. I'm one of those that have dared an attempt at a GEVO and it can offer a fair building challenge: The model holds good context as it teaches environmentally efficient ways of transporting cargo, especially should LEGO consider a T3, T4, or Nat Gas powered GEVO. Chances are they would use GE company colors (blue (and lime if doing an early prototype)) or resurrect a license with BNSF which can make for fun building. Just don't know what freight cars would it latch on to that will sell well... maybe ethanol?
  15. Some of these sets are particularly awesome, namely the 60069 and 60085. Really digging that boat. Makes me wonder if they have a set designer from South Florida in the team LOL, at least five of these sets are applicable to the area (Tow Truck = FDOT Road Ranger, Swamp Sets (3 of them) = Everglades, and the speedboat...self explanatory)
  16. I personally would like to see a custom hobby train build pack. However, I remember that Hobby Train from 2007 didn't go all to well. In fact, I remember before years' end getting it for $50 from SAH because they wanted to clear it out. That reduces its likelihood unless LEGO could produce something that really sells. A reasonable shot would be at a run of either the Union Pacific 4014 (Big Boy) or N&W #611, two steam engines that are actively in the restoration process. My understanding is they could be complete by 2015, so if LEGO commemorates it, it's an opportunity. I like (and build) high detail American freight, but sadly not many kids are in the program and only a limited amount of AFOL are too. Of course the only pretty freight is Intermodal which has appeared twice in 2005 (TTX) and 2011 (Maersk). Probably so just because it demonstrates full circle, versatile supply chain logistics. Goes to show when, say, my rock train for example isn't wow-factor material.
  17. Looks like I need to run to my store! Need some DkAzure so badly!
  18. So would Magenta 1x2 slopes. Interesting. I like to believe it's MdBlue but will wait for an answer on that. Also, since today is October 1 I think we're due for a refresh.
  19. A lot... but I guess the best way to quantify is how many built trains I have on hand, LOL.... 3 CSX locos, 2 FEC locos, 6 hoppers for rock train service, some Intermodal, and some manifest.
  20. Thank you! My estimate is about 11,000 but could be more.
  21. Thanks guys! The building just got topped off. It's finished save for a few minor details.
  22. Thanks guys! I do have a couple decals and will paste soon.
  23. It's nice how they are preassembled. Sawgrass had a pretty good wall when I visited last, as of Tuesday... The entire Friends selection was in hand with even 1x4 bricks in bright pink, and they had hidden in the back clear 1x2x2 panels, the look on my face when the manager brought out the case LOL. There was not an empty bin to be found, much unlike Aventura the week before.
  24. While the design is over a year old, and the original train cars as many as three, I finally decided to do a video timelapse showing some of the building process for a reefer seen on Tropicana Juice Trains, which gives it the feel of a Train Set. CSX is the primary carrier of these with UP and the Florida East Coast contracted to handle juice as well.
