$300!!! Wow that's steep. I've taken up HO Scale models and I must say I'd rather buy a functioning sound locomotive for that price and still have money left over to give it a few train cars. We'll really wait and see on that one.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

My experiences and customization of the set: -
Granted I may not be an expert at reviews, but I dropped my $0.02, and the back story for my image post earlier :))

Shameless plug of my 41093 MOD (& MADO MOC for those that have been to Turkey).... But anyway

I am right now building it! So far the only thing I did was build it on a slightly elevated standard to fit with my GFLUG buildings. We have a city block standard with overhanging stud. I made a tiny boo boo and a piece of white plate is exposed at the back door, but I'm doing minor Florida style sand spur grass overgrowth at the back. I might experiment with making levels 2 and 3 entirely white.

Right on. I have a good feeling I will walk out happy anyway, seeing how demand is overall a little bit lower for this one plus TLG probably has learned from the past in stocking enough for Day 1 demand and so forth. Mind you this isn't a Millennium Falcon. I won't take much of a chance though, will sneak out when I wake up!

Happy New Year to everyone first of all! I want to hazard getting this in person at the LEGO store tomorrow, do you all think it'll fly off the shelves? I just don't feel like ordering it online haha.

This is a great looking model. I tried to do a few in brown but they keep falling apart. Perhaps I can reverse engineer and adapt these.- 10 replies

Great minds think alike! Gonna place this guy on the LEFT ("Corner") side of the 10260. I was thinking of adding floors, but this way I can say it will most definitely work, and more so with the DD. That way people will have something to look out to instead of seeing another wall smack in their face, while the linear purpose of the set is preserved. Also some may observe the raised plate, I do a hybrid with GFLUG sidewalk and probs will make the same adjustment for the DD.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brickbuilder711 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I dig the new images. I love this set. Granted it may not be for everyone but it's awesome for what it is. For all the parts nerds I recognize the following parts issued in Dk Turquoise: Obviously the WV rims, the 2x4 curved double slope Also: 1x4, 1x3 bricks, 1x2 tiles, curved tiles 2L and 4L, and I think there is plate included as well inside. I was hoping for 1x1 brick or 1x2 brick but I guess that will have to wait. I'm hoping to start a new wave of customs with this set, since it fits perfectly in a Miami themed layout. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brickbuilder711 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I can finally say, I told you so. The details of the leak graphic were too much to be faked. Being a born and raised Miamian I'm glad they came through with this one. This set has a personal attachment now. In fact, I might as well call it, the set that saved me from the Dark Ages. I was going to also say as I plan to do a couple Miami highrises as well for GFLUG, one of them has a keen dependence on turquoise so hopefully, as these parts will likely become LUGBULK available (the Wall-E parts in fact preceded the set in availability back in '15) I will definitely LUGBULK them. Of course, I feel that I will MOD this set. To turn the "Downtown" Diner to a "South Beach" Diner I will likely make a few color changes to better reflect the area. I was eyeing the Ninjago fences too because I think those better capture the Miami vibe than brown picket fences. -
I don't see why not... lol. Vernazza, Italy is a relatable example but then again the terrain shapes the placement.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yep and it's written as "CADILLAC". The modular building will also pair well with this MOC of mine: -
Hey I saw your thread from the gold coast, I'm so flattered you got to see my LEGO NASA #2 in person, that's awesome!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
brickbuilder711 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I've lurked the commentary over the past few days to get the varied perspectives on the authenticity of this set. What I can say is there is absolutely no way this can be a fake. This IS next year's modular, and it is awesome. All of the details accounted for in the last 16 pages check out. If this were a fake, whoever faked it went through quite a bit of trouble to make it believable, more than any intelligent troll could ever imaginably do. Granted it's not the classic style the modulars were built on but I'm happy that LEGO went a little forward in time. It's only a bonus that the set thrives in Art Deco South Beach style, I've been looking to model Miami over the years and this set just might facilitate it. The return of Dark Turquoise is a treat. But it is not to say I won't mod it upon getting it. First of all I am waiting to see what shade of yellow the SNOT wall is. To me it appears tan. I might go for a different color combination to further miamize the building, but it looks like an exciting side project. Speaking of which, it would be almost impossible to fake dark turquoise curved pieces especially the ones in the WV beetle. While the closest color to mind is dark azure, there is no way this could be a miscolored dkazure set of pieces. That being said I'm SALIVATING for what appears to be a solid palette of dark turquoise elements. We will get quite a few plates for sure evidently plus definitely basic brick to wall the first floor. That's what I observe by looking into Jim's diner. This looks like the basis of the new colors/parts introduced for this set, as well as the hideous flowers. And I'm not sure if the stud with hole in LBG has been seen before. I for one like and look forward to the expressive faces. It'd be difficult to relive the 50s without them. -
GFLUG put on an awesome LEGO Train display at the NMRA show in Orlando, FL from 4-6 August 2017. Here's video of the display. At least six operating loops in this layout, one of which was the mainline loop that connects all the sections! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Yo439Waws

Pick-a-Model in LEGO stores officially discontinued?
brickbuilder711 replied to Legopold's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I not only am not surprised, but I'm glad this disaster is gone for good. Yes, the PAM brought me some amply needed parts, especially the grey erlings, white plates, black plates, etc... and I'm glad I got to sneak what I did in the cups (as if I had to sneak them). But of course, I had zero interest in picking the model, and as an AFOL that is trivially expected. (Though, I did build the alligator onsite for fun at the Sawgrass store, just because ;) ) If I were a budget conscious parent, I would myself see the benefit of doing a small cup as opposed to an overpriced model. For 2-3 extra dollars, I could fill a small cup with ten times the parts needed for PAM. I don't see the lost rack space going back to being PAB bins, but with most stores carrying dupes I don't see the difference. Rumor has it they will be offering more AFOL catered parts in the future, and let's hope it happens. We're in a new golden era with almost anything widely available so who knows what will come next to PAB. -
Hi Friends, I wanted to share my video outlining the rebuild of LEGO 10159 City Airport! I have a soft spot for classic town, and with this set it showed. Too bad I was missing the pieces for the cargo copter, but I didn't long to build it. Compared to the more recent city offerings, this offered some chilling nostalgia! I wish LEGO released something of this caliber nowadays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGK01iGE1L8 Hope you guys enjoy the showcase!

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

Motor side trim. It's funny how new elementary pinpointed the element now showing on the database at the beginning of the year, go figure it would be on this set. -
LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
brickbuilder711 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm in love with this set. The details are simply amazing. What got me is that one need not be a Ninjago fan to enjoy this. It's funny how LEGO on Facebook kept denying the set is modular, but right in the last picture, the one Digger of Bricks posted, it's crystal clear that it is. This set is also a strong parts pack and a true symbol of this golden age we are now living in. PS: Who remembers that futuristic city from Brickworld of years past? Instant reminder of it.... -
Dude!! This is awesome!! I was in Italy and saw these in person, came back and been wanting to MOC something from Trenitalia... and saw this. You nailed it!!

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
brickbuilder711 replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My mother bought me parts from Orlando while up on business, LOL. All I know they have is bley 2x2 plate, and sand green 1x2 plate. I have plenty of sand green from a past BL order, so all I asked for was the railroad ballasting element, in other words the 2x2plate. It looks like Orlando LIC also adopted the Fan Favorites from images I received. -
Lately I updated my CSX locomotives that I built back in 2014-2015. Since I perfected similar models with the Florida East Coast builds, I just took what I did and applied it to the models. Plus, I improved on where I placed my battery box making the engine much easier to operate! Here's video of me running it around my layout at Gold Coast Railroad Museum. I also threw in some model O Scale footage, perhaps for comparison Enjoy!
