  1. Thanks! A video of the updated and more progressed layout has been posted. Its 'premiere' is June 4.
  2. They look great Benn!! Need to build some myself, I have a huge load of parts for FEC 53' containers coming in... need to have something to move them on.
  3. Wow this model is phenomenal! Very detailed, love it!
  4. Generally it is difficult to come up with a prototypical looking railroad crossing with LEGO, but I think my rookie attempt isn't too awful ;-) Here's a video showing how to build it - hope it helps in all y'all's detailing!
  5. Nice job!! Really love the cosmopolitan style detail!
  6. Thanks, and yes, GE is the new face of the FEC! Hopefully I plan to have more of its roster bricked up as the layout progresses.
  7. Hi Friends, While I don't have too much to show about it as it is under construction, here's a sneak preview of a new layout at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami! It's based off the FEC lines in Florida. The layout is 12'x4' for now, hopefully to expand soon if successful, and PF based but at the moment 9V can run on it. Lots of buildings have yet to be added but hopefully it'll be all ready by June 4! Enjoy!
  8. Word on the street is, LEGOLAND Florida will be carrying the Sand green elements year-round.
  9. Savage! Nice! I am interested in some of the selection pretty much, maybe something can be worked out. I might have to take a trip up to NYC for myself to bag them, but know it will likely be cheaper to have them shipped.
  10. Sorry to revive a kind of dead thread, but finally did the video of this engine. Allows closeup views including the nose. Enjoy!!
  11. Wow, I'm going to be broke! Gonna run over to Sawgrass this weekend to snag up the gray 1x2, 1x1 erling, and 2x2 plate, as well as the white curves.
  12. Thanks guys! Interiors:
  13. Yes - last I checked they should be relatively easy to find on the net. GFLUG (we do call them rare earth magnets) uses them and I put them on a rock train once, and it worked like a charm. Worth the investment.
  14. Hello friends (pun intended ), Wanted to share my first completed MOC of 2016. Well... maybe not so much, since I started it last summer. After kind of leaving the Modular standard behind, I made a comeback with the first of hopefully several "Modern Modulars". This one in particular, is a combined duo of the Hair Salon with the façade from set #41093 Heartlake Hair Salon, plus a totally custom built MADO Ice Cream parlor (From Turkey). Features of the Hair Salon MOD: Retains the Art Deco look and Feel almost precisely invokes a redesign of the holding structure for the scissors, and flips them the other way for aesthetics Adds to the interior details provided in the Friends set (Will reveal soon :) ) Features of MADO: Captures the gold plated look and feel of a typical MADO Café franchise, like one in Turkey, but as if it was built in the States Typical interior and exterior detail. Short on accessories (namely ice cream cones) so I invoked mostly the pastry offerings from the store. Since I don't want to spill everything all at once I'll leave the interior details visuals to a subsequent posting. The model will also snap on to the GFLUG road plate system, aside from snapping to adjoining Modulars. It is a corner module actually so that customers getting their hair trimmed can look outside and not feel so closed in .
  15. Looks like I'll be waiting patiently until Mid February, or now, if Sawgrass has both, the Elephant appears to have the erling and 1x2 bricks mentioned in question. Plus 2x2 plates. SOLID GOLD....
  16. Hey guys, here is my latest MOC. These engines have a fascinating story. EMD SD70M-2s. They were originally the demonstrators for this model and even roamed the Florida East Coast railway for some time, before they made their first new acquisitions in decades, which we FEC fans later found out was actually a lease. CITX, one of the many leasing trades in the US got the motors sometime in 2006 after FEC returned them to EMD. They ended up coming back to Florida in 2009 and put into revenue service on the EMD bastion. Now, FEC purchased 24 GE locomotives so they decided to get rid of the M-2s and sent these to their next lessee, which would be CSX. Funny enough, the engines would reappear again in Florida. The following picture is the CITX motor paired up with an FEC engine..... on a CSX local in Miami, FL in 2015. Because of their versatility, rather the fact that I could pair these engines with either FEC OR CSX power , I couldn't help but build one in L-gauge. The engine is a big improvement on the FEC kin that dominated my layout in 2008 as those were built way too tall. Now it has the look and feel of a long behemoth SD70M-2. The comparison image is visible in this link: http://www.instagram...brickbuilder711
  17. Great job man! She's a monster!
  18. Lol me too! And I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas and "Noche Buena" (in Miami talk) festivities!!
  19. Beautiful!!! I live in Miami and I must say the Friends line has totally opened a lot of doors. Over the last three years, I've loaded up on the aquas, pinks, yellows. It definitely makes modeling my area a lot easier. You've captured the look and feel VERY well. Bravo!!
  20. Holy cow that's a beautiful train love it! Merry Christmas!
  21. Awesome video, and Merry Christmas to you, too!
  22. Thanks guys! And yes Dr. Spock, you figured me out haha . The layout in "Christmas mode" fully depicts a stop of that particular train. Here are some press images:
  23. I love it love it!! Looks very sharp! I did the #2 last year. She's still stored, her handrails were borrowed for a GEVO lol
  24. Hello everyone, Wanted to share my "Christmas Card", a video of my tree layout with a replica of FEC's Toys for Tots Christmas Train doing a stop at LEGO City :) Hope you all enjoy! And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
  25. Florida East Coast annual Christmas train pulls in to its 9th stop, LEGO City. An entire street was closed for a Christmas Street fair. :)) Coming soon, a full portrait shot of the layout with tree above.
