Looks like the creator house is cool yellow...
-
It IS a new windshield. You can see stud inserts below it implying multiples of the 2x2 angle brick. The yellow plate don't quite match the shape either. That is actually a turnoff for the design. The passenger train looks OK, I won't get it though.

I'll be at the LEGO store to pick it up first thing! 2/28 most likely. I just love everything about this set! The playability and the value is great. Here's a record of notable rare or new parts that I'm digging. It's going to be a fun build for sure: Lighter flesh 6x10 plate, doors orange ladder Is the sofa dark orange? Doesn't look brown Cool Yellow 1x2 tiles MdAzure 2x2 tiles Fl-Yel-Orange 3x3 round plate Pink doors White / gray inverse domes :D Bt-Lt-Blue jumpers Md-Dark-Flesh 1x2 slope Orange, pink, purple bits and pieces...

That article is hilarious... But I know one group of people it's going to tick off... none other than the LEGO group. LOL. But that manservant thing... I died...

WOW This is an awesome set!!! I want it! Great parts pack too. Lots of playability and captures it. I think they designed it to better cater to the details. Lots of new stuff too... I'm looking at MdAzure 2x2 tile, Med. Nougat plates, and more. Hope those ladder pieces that are the cribs to be Flame Yellowish Orange, they look bright orange but I have a real use for FlYel Orange... This is definitely a collector's set and well detailed. A bit bulky though. I'll be getting it. Because of all of the tan brick, my guess is $200.

Posting this in this forum because of the pun... enjoy! and Happy New Year! or... Happy Rockin' New Year! The last MOC builds for the old year are an expansion to my LDD-conceived rock hoppers.

It's definitely nice to have around. My video reviews for 60056 and 60059 are also up now. Nice sets, still not a whole lot of detail packed into except for the Logging Truck. Both were still definitely worth picking up and I recommend them. My final review will be Friends so that will be posted elsewhere on this board:

Thanks for all the comments! Here's the finished product! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!

Made a brief review of 60053, I have 60056 Tow Truck and 60059 Log Truck coming up as well as Heartlake High, and by all means those will be more involved and intuitive reviews. My thoughts were: it's a nice set to have and display, sleek car but too wide.

Thanks! Yes, my Flickr is available to view and on the same username :), I think I was on a rush when writing up this post but here's my set for this year and last year's MOCs (you'll want to scroll towards the end): http://www.flickr.com/photos/brickbuilder711/sets/72157637527799965/with/11469273774/

Hi all, As was mentioned on my modular thread, I was going to be doing a Christmas layout. It would be Florida themed which would be different than doing a Winter scene. Fortunately, I found time to get started. Almost done, but here's a short preview video of it! Note: while it looks like a train thing, I gave quite a bit of time to doing the town buildings. Not sure which subforum it would belong in, LOL. Enjoy! A teaser pic is also attached:
-
Thanks! Not particularly from one building but with attributions to multiple modern promenades and the like.
-
Yep! Took about two weekends worth of time to get 'er done. Thanks! At first the two halves of the building had a modular standard connection with the technic pins just like any other building, then the aspect started to fade away. However, everything else about the building fits the standard, namely floor heights and details.
-
Thanks everyone! Yeah, about the pink tile, I wanted to try something new. While Sand Red or similar would have worked out perfectly, I experimented instead with a recent surplus of pinkies I got at the LEGO Store recently. Soon I'll put out pics of this in the layout.
-
I really appreciate the comments everyone! Thanks! There is to some extent an interior; I want to incorporate interiors to give life to the buildings and enhance the experience, but at times I will run out of available time. The pub has an interior and the suite on top of it as well. However, since I ran out of time to detail the furniture store and suite above it, I'm leaving it blank / going to add a robbery scene to it.

Some pavers/sidewalks give off a sand-red like hue, and BtPink is the closest to it. Not too strong, but enough color to give the building and surroundings more life. In most modern town centers and urban shopping plazas especially around Florida, developers often put that light sand red-ish paver.

Friends, In time for the Holiday season layout (mine is more Florida themed so no snow, sorry!) I have here a brand new Modular Building MOC. It has three stories and two subsections, with retail on the ground floor and residential on the upper floors. Here's the video and photos!

I wish! I was lucky enough in 2004, when I turned 10 (now 19) to exchange birthday gifts for 4679 at Toys R Us, noticing the whole thing out of dumb luck (frankly I remember my mom chose the set). This was probably one of my best decisions yet, and got me a lot of the parts seen in both of those boxes. However, I blew a second opportunity to get 4679 in 2005 as a red bucket, really wish I did so! On the other hand, it's not like many of those rare parts got used well since of course they were in low quantities, but still I'm very happy I got the box that I got. The box even got me parts not in those two sets, the Sand Blue 2x2 rounds listed above being one of them. I don't recall the 4518/4562 making it to the US markets. Sadly on a related topic I saw 4400 at KB Toys once upon a time, still kicking myself for not getting it. EDIT: Discovered from the stash, 1 1x1 tile in Sand Blue. Apparently came only in a Mini TIE fighter even though I scored it in 4679! Guess I gotta insure that piece, lol.

1. Highway haulers city set 2. Friends Heartlake City High - Gotta get that sun-bleached yellow somehow! 3. PAB, PAB Holiday Box 4. Baseplates 5. From BL: parts including Flame yellowish orange and mdazure 6. To have in hand by Christmas: parts to build FEC's Breast Cancer locomotive Gosh... I guess that's a lot to ask :P

Since I got into LEGO in the late 90s, not much old stuff but more rare stuff. It's hard to determine which is THE rarest but here are come contenders, in fact the Sand Blue 2*2 round could be the one but I'll leave it open for interpretation. The ones in bold are available in no more than two sets: Level crossing gates from 4539 Old 70s windows - Oldest on record Sand Blue 4*8 wings and 2*2 round brick (I have two, could see it on my CSX engines and it's a miracle to consider how I wound up with it in the Bonus Box) MdGreen 1*1 clips Dark blue 1*1 round plate Btgreen 1x1 minifig head. I have about four or five, you can see it in my Starbucks moc on Flickr. Sand Red 1*6 tile and 1*2 plate with clip

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
brickbuilder711 replied to ACCURATEin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lucky w/ the 2*2, I haven't been able to score that for years. They say you can never have enough ltbley 2*2 tiles. -
Not the only change I noticed, before this, some runs of older 1x2 jumper would have grooves underneath it. I got a mixed bunch of yellow ones, old style non-grooved, and old style grooved from PAB in summer '12, and I remembered a GFLUG member building Winter Village, with green incarnations of the grooved style.

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
brickbuilder711 replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A lost rare part, which raided the Orlando PAB wall in 2007, is the Dark Green 1x2 plate. Other than PAB and BNSF, it was rare. Now I'm sure it's everywhere. When my Bricklink was opened in 2011, the going rate was over a dollar per part; feeling a surplus, I sold 30 at 1.00 each... Cha ching! I had 700+ total (viva la PAB Tub!). But I didn't want to part with all of them! Big mistake. I could've short sold them... sell all 700 and buy back 700 now in today's market... lol. http://www.bricklink...25&searchSort=P -
Sure will ;) I already have plans for some American trains and Art deco buildings. This set looks art deco itself with all those curves. Me too! unfortunately as can be told by the hi-res, the parts are stickered. I'm content with that for MOCing reasons but at times I prefer it printed.
