  1. Wow! This does belong in South Beach it looks so authentic! Way to go with all the details both interior and exterior...soooo inviting! Congratulations on a fine build!
  2. Sand green was the first color I began collecting for myself, so I adore that house! And the details are just astounding as usual! It will take many return visits to your photos to take in the many creative details. Thanks so much for these two houses!
  3. Hahahaha...still laughing! This is better than the real thing because it uses Lego! Verrrrrrry coooool!
  4. Fang, Wow! Your CMF reviews always blow my socks off! And thanks for spending all the time to do this as it is a personal sacrifice on your part. Many thanks again. I am with Redhead here thinking that there are not much City useful things here; wish there were more females doing things that women do in real life. Trendsetter and Librarian will end up in my collection. Several older folks would be nice so the older fellow has someone to drink coffee and shoot the bull with. Medusa leaves me cold; she definitely won't be seen in my coffee shop. And we could use more people of color for sure. Series 9 is still my personal favorite.
  5. Holy cow! The tea house and the garden are just amazing! Love your creative use of parts. This is seriously amazing!
  6. Shay, Hahaha! Reading your post made me laugh. Yup, it is a problem even thinking about counting minifigs. I decapitated most of mine a few years ago and stored the torsos by color to make it easier to build the needed color. Next I attach lt flesh arms because most of mine are pastel colored gals with lt flesh heads and legs. I do use some pastel colored legs and and arms as well. And I adore the torsos with darker heads and limbs because the contrast is perfect with pastel torsos. It would be great if they offered a wider variety of heads with features matching women from India, China, Japan and Africa to get away from the yellow heads of the past. Except for a few complete licensed figs, most of mine are not assembled. This system does make me focus on the particular body parts missing so that I have enough female figs to make large scenes. It seems that the Prince of Persia sets were a source of lt flesh arms on BL, so I stocked up. And many male fig heads can be turned into females with appropriate hair, etc. Guess I'll have to pass on the body count for now.
  7. This definitely ups the odds that more folks will visit Billund! Glad to see this news and hope it gets built sooner.
  8. Wow! This is one scary looking house! Both interior details and exterior design are first class! Way to go!
  9. These are so brilliant that we all are jealous! Wow!!!
  10. Love the various cute faces! What is in the treasure chest being hauled up to the deck?
  11. Wow, another lovely Architecture set and review! Can't wait to get this one.... While I like the colors used here, Rufus' idea of doing it in sand red would have been amazing! Wonderful to see a Japanese building by such a famous architect. Guess it is time to do a few I M Pei buildings with a Gehry not being far behind. There are so many lovely buildings left to model!
  12. Some great ideas posted here so far! Here are a few more: A museum of textiles and clothing like the minority costume exhibit in the Shanghai Museum at People's Square would be wonderful. It could include all the Friends minifigs and some new ones from other cultures. Fabric capes and dresses would be wonderful. A museum of furniture from Friends sets with some new additions all in pastel colors. A bookstore with a coffee bar. A 3 in 1 Creators' cabin building set in Friends colors with finished interiors and lots of knickknacks for furnishings and a cool smaller car like a Smart Car. A Friends botanical garden with new plants and trees and pastel colors....we need foliage in other shades of green as well as purple and lavender. A health food restaurant and store with eating spaces inside and outside. We could use more food pieces in the correct scale for Friends. A geologists' set with tools and settings in pastel colors, incl. a small truck for hauling things around. (My D-I-L is a geologist and loves LEGO!) A computer lab run by Friends....in Friends' colors with a few pets running around. A spa with massage therapists and soaking pools. A LEGO store with pastel sets and boxes. Several Friends' families including babies and children and their cars and vans. A Friends' temple scene similar to those found in Kyoto and Suzhou...complete with tall tower, large rocks and rock tablets, lake, trails and forest. A canal scene out of Venice complete with gondolas and oarswomen. We could build this into a large lake as well by combining several sets. Bicycle club with group rides on pastel bikes in many different colors. And it would be easy to change many of the Creator houses into pastel colors, add interesting furnished interiors and gardens, and sell them as Friends sets. Anything in pastel colors has my support as long as it is not violent; there are too many violent toys out there. It is so much fun to dream about this topic!
  13. Legocrazy 81, GOOD LUCK! Hope your kidney transplant is successful and that you are feeling better. A few LEGO sets definitely speed up recovery from any surgery; this worked for me after both of my knees were replaced during the past five years. I stockpiled sets before surgery and made sure that I could reach the parts needed to build things during recovery when walking was not easy. Watching funny films on netflix also helped because humor has quite a healing affect. Our fingers are crossed for your quick recovery.
  14. 39. Cara gets all five points. Lovely MOC!
  15. It is a cool keychain even though I am not a fan of red. The chrome looks great! And it was really a surprise coming in the mail. Maybe they will offer them in other colors (like pastels) in the stores soon. Should be a bestseller. I visit and buy from our Lego Store (10 miles away) about once a month or so. Don't buy online from Lego, so it must be related to the store. Glad to hear the Palace set will be out the 14th in the store acc. to the info with the keychain. Sometimes I check a few days earlier.
  16. The minute I saw this set (at Target), I had to have two of them...it is just so wonderful. Brilliant design for the Friends' target markets, who don't know which parts to expect in a dojo anyway. (Did enjoy Maya's comment!) Two weeks later the set appeared online at Lego US and in our local Lego store. Chinese daughter-in-law and I play with and adore our sets while giggling a lot and then giggling more! The kimono outfit is perfect! And the 10USD price is perfect for so much entertainment. A BRILLIANT set and an outstanding review. Lego, please introduce more Asian themed Friends sets and mini-dolls to match so my D-I-L can have a Friends character that looks more like her. And so she has more Asian themed sets for gifts when she visits China.
  17. Daisy, This is an adorable florist shop/greenhouse/apt! What a great combo in one modular. My favorite greenhouse is the rare one piece duplo greenhouse of which I own two. Sorry I can't find the set number. There is so much potential for building greenhouses. I often wish that Lego Architecture would produce the large Palm greenhouse in London at Kew Gardens, filled with lovely new plants! I would pay $500. for a huge model of that with built in lighting, which hubby could design for them. And lots of varieties and colors of plants would be so helpful for designing outdoor settings. (Playmobil has done an excellent job with greenhouses and garden centers, both of which I collect. And their plants have a lot more variety. It is fun creating vegetable farms and flower beds when there are more varieties of plants.) Tree design is so limited because of the few tree parts available....and it is so much fun creating a forest filled with many different trees, bushes and plants. These could also be used to make large aquariums look really cool without live plants. Hubby makes N scale train layouts, and I love buying the JTT trees which come in so much variety that a forest look is possible. As a note, long ago florists often operated out of their homes with refrigerators filled with flowers. My grandmother did this in a small NC town from about 1940-1970 when large stores began selling flowers. I remember seeing the refrigerators in her dining room and watching her listen to the early news obituaries so she could know who would need flowers for funeral that week. So combining the shop and home into one modular is quite realistic.
  18. Wow! Love the way you used Duplo with Friends! SO much imagination gone wild! It is amazing what we can do with a weird assortment of parts, which forces you to be more creative. Congratulations!
  19. Wow! That peacock bue color was amazing back then! I think Lego are so successful now because they finally developed a fuller palette of colors, especially the softer on the eyes pastels. Seems like it took about a hundred years for them to offer bricks in colors that females prefer....I hated building houses in the early 90's with my son because of all those blasted red roof bricks and the total lack of color choices besides the basic ones. Thanks for all this fascinating info!
  20. Redhead, You may want to borrow a friend's Kindle and Nook, and try them for a day. Then you can decide if you like reading eBooks, and select one. It takes a lot of getting used to if you have been reading hard copies for decades. If you travel a lot, one could work well. I have tried reading books on the original and later Kindles and the iPad, and don't care for them unless I am out of the country and trying to reduce luggage weight. I object to the extremely high prices for books, which often are available in our library or at our used book store. I can recycle those through my friends, which I can't do with an eReader. And I love turning real pages and dropping the book on the floor when I am too tired to get up and gently put away an electronic gadget. Hope you get a chance to try them out before buying.
  21. Wow! What a cool modular! I especially love the external windows, the color scheme, and the compact but realistic floor plan. The perfect set up for the award winning creator of exclusive handbags....way to go!!!
  22. I love these builds...fantastic for the work of children! The snowman's nose is so cute I want to pull it off! My son (24) is building one of the temples in Kyoto, and it makes me really proud that he is spending his free time building. This is so much better than having your children watch TV or play videogames. Congratulations on getting them going!
  23. I managed to spend an hour feeling CMS packages and found the other females finally. My favorite is the fortune teller. The mermaid and the actress/starlet place second. Not that crazy about the others, but they always give us parts for building other figures. I do wish that there were more individual females figures and that they would put more females in each case.
  24. No time today to read all the posts in this thread, but wanted to say that they have Series 9 at the Lego Store in Raleigh. They arrived this morning, and I grabbed 20 at random before rushing off. Ended up with 8 differrent ones; still need to find the ladies with red and green skirts, caesar and the bartender. My favorites are the mermaid and actress of the females and the judge of the males. Wish there were more females in the series because I build mostly with women. Ugh. In case you need a present for a 1.5 to 101 year old.... I also picked up a couple of lovely Duplo sets, 10554 and 10561, toddler starter sets priced at 15USD and 20USD. And a free box to fill in the New Year. Cheers, cheers, cheers!
