  1. 16 geisha girls are my favorites; they make great gifts for Asian friends, so I have no idea how many I have given away besides these 16. Is that enough to make an army? Bet they can outsmart your SW clone whatevers any day of the week! (Don't get me wrong...I adore all minifigs that are human like...and my swarms of girls are always looking for a nice date.)
  2. Wow! Nice wheels! Lowboy trailer and your backhoe look outstanding, too. Overall a very slick looking rig! My dad designed specialty trailers for custom moves and would have really enjoyed this one!
  3. I wash them in a large bowl with a bit of dishwashing detergent; let them sit a day if you can. Then rinse well and let them dry on towels placed on baking sheets out of the sun of course. This has worked on smoky used parts purchased on BL and eBay. Take care to sort out the bad parts after they are clean and dry. I buy few used parts because I am sensitive to smoke, but sometimes you can only find used parts ad have no choice. Good luck!
  4. Wow! The angular design and colors are really sweet! Looks great in the light and even more awesome in the dark..... lit up. Congrats on a fine creation!
  5. Carson, For a Seattle trip, a fisherman, a sea captain, a mermaid, an Indian chief, a spaceman or pilot, and a swimmer quickly come to mind. Not enough big waves for a serious surfer, but there are a lot of skateboarders and bicyclists, too. If you get a chance, visit Seattle Center's new Dale Chilhuly exhibit....it is a killer and is right next to the Space Needle. BrickCon was held nearby last October. Not sure where it will be this fall. It is so much fun taking your figs out to play in a new location!
  6. I like your design and the others' comments about adding tiles and a few people. Good luck!

Eurotrash, This makes me laugh! Reminds me of driving 12 years in Alaska, often either stuck in ditches or helping others who were, and sitting on a pillow while wearing a hardhat to keep my skull from splitting every time my head hit the roof. Ever notice how hard is it to get a huge 4WD unstuck? And your mileage is great for those conditions...our GMCs like this baby used to get 4MPH when it was below minus 40F. We had to stop on the way home from town during breakup if it was dark and wash off our headlights because there was so much mud that they were useless. Until the brilliant Swedes and Germans came up with washers and wipers for the headlights. Conditions like this do make dream cars seem a bit dreamier, don't they!
  8. Yup, everyone seems to suffer with tiny and monumental MOC collapses..... What really gets to me is stepping on the &)(:/@@@$);: tiny pieces after spending four days sorting and collecting those little buggers from all over the floor. During my first fifteen years as the mom of LEGO building sons, all I did was buy and then sort LEGO.....for days and days and days. And find grubby little parts for their builds. These parts are still showing up in our front yard, back yard, kitchen drawers, and inside just about everything we own. It does make me laugh when I come across another part....unless the vacuum has just eaten it. So now I have my own collection of LEGO, which I do not share with anyone under 16 because my stuff is nicely sorted. They can tear up their own LEGO and decapitate every minifig they own, but my people are safely stored in my containers! It gives me an overwhelming sense of power to have my own toys for the first time in my life because we did not have store bought toys as children, and even if we had, LEGO were not sold in stores here until I was in my twenties.
  9. This is the first Chima set I have seen built, and the color scheme is quite attractive. The printing on the minifigs has some vivid details and certainly is not bland. There appears to be good value for the low price. It is great seeing a reviewer really get into a discussion of minifig design because the variety of figures has increased so much with the growing number of intricately printed body parts. How does this set fit in with the rest of the line? Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a review! And congratulations on your first post on EB! It looks like you have many years in which to enjoy your LEGO and share more reviews with us. So will Chima overrun Hong Kong's steep mountains and rule the territory?
  10. Nice figures, too!
  11. Twwwrucks...how cute!
  12. The use of skis does make it work. Looks like the perfect MOC for pretend playing game of how best to destroy my neighbor, the guy with the dog that has barked for the last ten years. Will not take out the dog as well because it is not his fault.

My dream car is a Tesla S, an all electric sedan with a range of about 400 miles. No way I would pay over 30K USD for a car; we own two Toyota Prius hybrids, which are great fun to drive. So the Tesla (at around 100K out the door) will remain my dream car.
  14. Congratulations! Very lovely design that certainly catches ones eye. I bet that this looks stunning in person. So where will it be on display next?
  15. Actually I like BOTH of them! Thanks for the photo, Pepp....so what is your favorite hat... besides the one always on your head?
  16. Wow! That is one niiiiiiiiice UN set! Can't wait! Thanks for the photo!
  17. Vincent, Nice photos! Glad it was not raining those days. Thanks for the flickr post. Cheers!
  18. On another forum, I once made an innocent statement (concerning kids in toy shops) that unintentionally upset some folks, who tried annihilating me online. So I won't repeat what I said here. But I will say that I did not take my kids in toy stores when they were young, and they did not see TV in our home...to avoid the problem of demanding all the toys they saw in ads. Most children have way too many toys and don't appreciate them. SO why make the problem worse by taking them in the toy store, especially when they already are tired and whiny, and set the stage for them to meltdown in the toy aisles. It is better and more relaxing to look at a catalog or online listing to discuss toys and see what they like, and then make the decision as a parent as to what you think is the best toy after taking many factors into consideration. I rarely enter toy stores, and would never go on a weekend. Our LEGO store is about the only place I go now unless I need to buy something else in a store that happens to carry LEGO, like Target where I buy groceries. The amount of plastic junk passed off as "toys" in US stores is enough to gag a horse. Most of it is trashed within a month or so and ends up in our bursting landfills.
  19. Wow! Love it! Especially the funny lines by all. The humor reminds me a bit of the first Muppet Movie, one if my favorites.
  20. Cool design! Like the blue and yellow color combination. Locked bike minus wheels is a nice touch of reality!
  21. Wow! I love the baseplate covered in 1X2's plates and 2X2 tiles of many different colors....adds so much texture to the build. This reminds me a bit of the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. We saw a model in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin and just watched a program about it on netflix tonight. Makes you wonder just how many ancient civilizations there were and where they were located. Congratulations EBers on another fine work of art!
  22. Yup, I thought that the article about this "study" would light a few fires and bring out some serious humor....and it did! Great to hear different points of view! I really like changing heads on all of our many minifigs...it changes their personalities and gives them individual identities. It makes playing with them more interesting because their stories get more detailed and complicated due to changes in their appearances. Now if we could just get more variation in the faces of the non-yellow heads, it would make it much easier to build scenes using other skin colors without smiley faces most of the time. The shades of brown are wonderful for minifigs and would be even better if there were more facial expressions. It is hard to build beautiful darker females using using (an expensive) Lando's head with facial hair, and I am not into changing facial expressions on LEGO heads. Cheers!
  23. WoW! An outstanding set for sure! Looks very realistic this time. My favorite view of Sidney is coming into to the harbor or airport and seeing this building there to greet you....it just blows you away with its perfect majesty overlooking the harbor. The base is outstanding in the way its design sweeps you up into the building. Yup, this one will be parked next to our Taj Mahal!
  24. Congrats on the addition to your family! May your child grow up to love building LEGO with you...what a blast! And it is fun taking your child to anything having to do with LEGO.
  25. I agree with Pepp. BL most often, but I do pick up a lot of used sets and bulk parts on eBay as well. It is more hit or miss on eBay never knowing what will be offered or how it will be listed or what condition it really will be in.
