  1. Wow! The fish are incredible...I would kill to have an aquarium like that! And the white city is also lovely! But so is Sapporo in the winter when it is snow covered. It would have been fun to see this exhibit in person. Wow!
  2. Sarah, You are correct about the early dollhouse figures most of us played with! Once I get to play with these new figs, I think that I will like them a lot. Does it mean it is time to buy Olivia's house, and get with it big time? I hope so! Cheers!
  3. Very helpful review! Thanks for all the details as it is hard to tell from the box what is in it. And the colors are lovely!!! I am not into vets and animals, but I like the overall design and will get it because it is the start of a cool building; add more pieces and you have a decent sized business to go in my pastel shopping center. Do wish it had at least four figures for all the things that are supposed to be going on here...where are the customers? So far I love the Friends sets and feel their pull...it appears that Lego has hit a home run with this series, and god knows, it is time for the females to get something they can feel comfortable building and playing with.
  4. Hinck, This review is an absolute hoot! Love the details of the set and of your review. Thanks for taking the time to tell us why it is so great! This cafe is such an improvement over the Paradisa and Bellville sets I collect, that yup, it will soon find a home in my home, too. It has been a very long and dry run for girls and women who like to build detailed living spaces. My Bellville Sunshine Houses are the last set that excited me, and this one is much better designed. I don't have to supply all of the custom furnishings to make it usable. We can all thank Lego for making this a cafe that does work and invites all of us in. With your expertise in the hair department, can't wait til you review the beauty shop!!!
  5. Nice review! Your photo of the parts is a nice touch! Your custom sewing machine was a wonderful idea! I'm building it in pastels to match this theme! This is a really cute set, and Friends are flying off the shelves around here. Almost all gone after 8 days in ToysRUs. I picked up this set with 3933 (Olivia's Workshop) today, and built them together. The new colors are fantastic! It is cool that they gave Emma an occupation as a fashion designer because some adults do make a living doing this, and it makes girls think about what they want to do in the future. If you have a choice, buy these sets at Lego stores or lego.com or somewhere besides TRU because they charge 12USD. versus 10USD at Lego. I asked TRU if they price matched the local Lego store, and they said no. I was considering Olivia's House (they had one left), but at $81USD, it was $11. higher than Lego's price; and TRU's $10. off any Lego set over $50. did not apply because this set is new.....aaargh! So I used some of my TRU rewards dollars from shopping there before Christmas, and brought these two sets home almost free. When the rest of the new coupons can be used, I will pick up a couple more of the 5 character sets. I think that 10USD is a stretch for these sets in the US; TRU may be able to get 12. for them in the short run, but I would not pay that. If you wait a few months, TRU will probably discount these with the other Lego, and you can save a lot of moola. I may end up with all 14 sets because I collect female figs and the colors in these sets are just too cool to miss. Can't wait to build these sets in the rooms of my pastel houses!
  6. Wonderful design and colors! Very easy on the eyes with the curves, which warm it up. Congratulations!
  7. Dacta/Duplo offered a 9224 and a 9222 set of figures, both of which are available on US eBay and BL; last month I paid about 35USD for each set. I saw one of the sets in our local Lego store a few weeks ago; the price was around 40USD. These are lovely sets of figs for your Duplo builds, especially if you have a lot of bulk bricks and are short of figs. 9222 offers 16 figs of which 8 are children. 9224 has 20 figs...all are adults. Both sets have great ethnic mixes as it appears they were designed for preschool use. These sets are a wonderful way to make your Duplo cities more realistic and worldly looking. These are the newer style Duplo figs with waists and hips and really cool faces and features. I adore them. They populate my town of DuploVille and make it come to life.
  8. I, too, love the activities Olivia's Workshop promotes! Just purchased and built this set today (along with 3996-Emma's Design Studio). We definitely need more female scientists, so this set is right on. Very helpful review...thanks! The color combos are delightful; I am so turned off by the basic red, blue, green, yellow and black colors. Have been collecting pastel Lego for the past 3 years, so these sets are just what I need to fill my pastel houses. As a long time collector of Belville and Paradisa, it is cool to see a new line of sets for females. As to the fixed hands, that seems to be a major limitation of what the new Friends figs can do. And walking legs would be wonderful as well. I love the rest of the fig characteristics and am thrilled to have new hair that fits my vast collection of Lego gals. Shelves are empty at our local TRU after just one week, so maybe this means they will be a huge success! Hoorah!
