The 1st Asia LEGOLAND theme park in Malaysia
Legogal replied to weelean's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow! This looks like another nice Legoland! Wish we could be there for the grand opening in a couple of weeks! Being close to Singapore is a huge plus with its massive population and relatively high incomes. And Singapore is a huge destination tourism-wise, so that should help. Locating it near other theme parks is a wise idea as shown in Orlando where multiple parks draw decent crowds and a wider range of ages, which is so attractive to the entire family. I hope this effort produces another run of sets based on Moorish inspired designs because they are such gorgeous creations and so easy on the eyes with their many curves. Every time I think of Moorish designs, my mind returns to the features that make the Alhambra (in Granada, Spain) so special. The Prince of Persia sets gave us a glimpse of this style of design. Lego needs to incorporate styles of buildings from other parts of the world, and Malaysia is a great source of these designs. Anyplace in Asia is fine with me for new Lego themes. China, India and Japan await Lego themes....my collection of old Orient Adventure sets is one of my favorites. And while not everyone in these countries can afford Lego, there are many who can. And Lego has to include all of Westerners who adore Asian themes. Lego will figure out how to deal with the extreme sunshine in the tropics; maybe a roof covering some fo the permanent structures would be a good idea with all of the heavy rain they experience. My only regret is that my son spent a semester abroad in Singapore (at NUS) two years ago, and this park was not open then. So I guess it means a trip to Singapore for our family at some point. Cheers! -
Wow! A Le Corbusier house in LEGO! What a cool house by a very innovative architect, who lived way before his time. So glad they did this set in the Architecture series. And all the info included about the house is just wonderful. Like CopMike said, this info makes the set much more interesting. (Guess we'll have to pull with Finns to get an Alvar Aalto building next. His work is just too great to ignore.) Rufus, Thanks for a fine review and so much detail. Definitely makes me want to add this set to the collection. Le Corbusier is certainly one of the biggest names in architecture, and the movement he led has resulted in many inspiring buildings. Keep up the great reviews!

Just saw the article about the "Lego Chief" in today's Wall Street Journal, page B3, or at: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444914904577622962273573438.html?KEYWORDS=lego+chief Statement that caught my eye is that LEGO sold twice as many Friends' sets as they expected to sell during the first six months they were on the market. Holy cow!!! So those of us who knew TLG had a massive winner in the Friends theme were right on. Way to go folks in helping keep the demand for Friends high! And especially for the guys who are not afraid to buy and build with toys that come in pink boxes.....WE LOVE YOU! Just spending the day inside (95F outside) building the new Friends adventure camper and float plane. These sets are just too cool to ignore. Can't wait to get more Friends' sets! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, LEGO!!!!!!!

What a wonderful idea for washing pets! Could we try this with little kids, too? Love your color scheme, too. Good luck in the contest!

LEGO can call them what they want, and so can we. After all we are the PAYING customers, aren't we? If I remember to do it, the letters will be all caps. If not, tough tidly winks. No company is paying me to spell it or use it a certain way. Can't we just enjoy our toys? Anyway this forum is not owned or managed by LEGO, is it? Let's welcome folks who call it whatever they want; especially those newbies, who need to feel welcome. When my friends correctly identify my toys as "Legos," I am so happy that 1) I jump up and down cheering them, and 2) they know what my toys are (most Americans don't); I would never correct them to leave off the "s" for the plural form. Let's enjoy life...it is too darn short.

REVIEW: 8833 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 8
Legogal replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! What an outstanding review! Full of helpful info as we all contemplate....which ones do I want to buy??? Feeling the parts specific to one certain CMF will be much easier with your detailed photos of all the parts. I found a partial box in our TRU (Cary, NC, USA) yesterday at 3.19USD each. Did not buy yet as I prefer our Raleigh LEGO store, which usually sells them for 2.99USD and has a better selection. They should be on the shelves today there. Many have stated the true value of the CMS figures...one had to buy a huge set in the past to get maybe 3 or 4 figures as the most. This was a very expensive way of collecting figures to play with and to fill up ones city or whatever else was built. Now we can have 128 extra figures to populate our builds! And if there are a few that folks don't care for, they don't buy them or trade them for others. Thanks LEGO for giving us so many minifig choices. From reading the comments here, it is clear that in Series 8 there is someone for everyone. Another thing I have noticed is that females tend to spend a lot of time playing with toys that resemble people. The CMS make this much easier and bring many more females to the fold of LEGO enthusiasts. So welcome your daughters, sisters, girlfriends, mothers, grandmothers and other female friends with gifts of special CMS figures they will adore! -
September is here, and 2013 is just around the corner. It is time to start checking the airfares to Munich because fall can be a great time for spring air bargains. Does anyone know the dates for the EB Gunzburg Legoland get together in May of 2013? Maybe we can share bargain airfares to Munich info here. Cheers to EB 2013!

Not sure about the future of these licensed Duplo lines. But I do so love my Disney Princess Duplos! The colors are outstanding, and the only thing I need now is a granddaughter (or grandson) to play with me and my Duplos. Too bad LEGO does not provide live grandkids to play with their toys and me! I am a huge adult fan of Duplos....my favorite builds so far have been a sitting on the dock fishing scene and my Duploville city. It was a sad day when I had to put them away so we could use our dining room table again...for dining. Phooey! Here's to Duplos....hip hip hoorah! Gal

Hahaha! Looks like every gal needs one of these lovely pastel colored set of wheels...great for warning the neighbors to turn down the Harley noise that shakes our windows or take better care of the dog that barks 10 hours a day. Where can I order a full sized one? Would love to park it in our driveway....loaded with missiles. Do you think the neighbors would get the message, or is this too )*^$#$^&*()(*&^^ subtle? Would we have to aim it directly at their house each time the uproar begins? And do you sell the refill missile packs? Don't think they stock those at Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks for what might be the solution to a very aggravating problem, Gal

Purple, It seems that many folks are using regular minifigs in their Friends' type builds, and there is no requirement that you use the Friends' "minidolls." I think that both kinds of figures look wonderful, and use whichever one best fits the setting. Many females are not into knights, Ninjago, ghosts, pirates, cowboys, and the other 99 per cent of LEGO minifigs, so this just adds some fantastic choices and variety for those gals. it is interesting seeing how many males enjoy building with minidolls...that is so sweet! Their (potential) daughters will love them even more for being open to playing with minidolls. Cheers!

I am both thrilled and amazed at how well Friends' sales are going. Finally all of us (adults, kids, and teens) have choices that reflect more feminine qualities. It is fantastic seeing how many adults of both sexes are building with Friends' parts and figures. All I can say is a huge THANK YOU to LEGO for making these designs and colors available. After many years of collecting pastel color pieces at high prices, it is a thrill to see so many wonderful colors and designs in Friends' sets. Please keep those new sets coming out the door for those of us who favor a kindler, gentler world.

This may be the next thing they see in Florida...a croc on a chopper! Love it, woman!

A good point about her brother's reaction. If I had done this to anything my four brothers had built, I would have had to run away from home for a few days until things cooled down! A great concept for a woman wanting to go into business on her own! Perfect for our Friends!

Time for a nap......I'm thoroughly exhausted from skimming this thread! It seems as if LEGO makes what it wants, which is certainly its right. And as buyers, we get to decide what we want to buy. Because of cultural differences in every country, there can be no agreement on what is right or wrong. There is no "right answer" here folks. Guess we just have to accept that people differ and make the best of it. TTFN (Ta ta for now as in a cheerful goodbye!)

This is an extraordinary build! The design is outstanding based on an extremely creative idea....Santa taking a break after bowling into the fireplace. Wow! Wish this were TLG set....it would sell a lot IMHO! Way to go!
-
Nice setup for the two racers! The crowd of characters is so interesting....each must have an intriguing life story! Where is the best place to read up about the Fabulanders? It is one line I don't own....boooooooohoooooo! And a picture of the missing frog by itself would be wonderful as as it is hard to find without knowing what it looks like. Cheerio!

SoF: Stephanie's Cool Submersible
Legogal replied to TAFOL's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow! This such a cool submersible! I was looking through old aqua raider instructions yesterday and see how this could be handy. It is so creative and fun to look at. The fish on the wall of water are just amazing! Congrats on such a delightful diorama for our Friends! -
Wow! Some lovely designs, colors and uses of parts! Your drivers are pretty cool, too! They make the cars seem so human and their stories flow easier. The wide variety of styles makes it hard to compare and choose a favorite, but surfer girl and the hearse are right up there. Thanks for showing all of these wonderful builds!

The colors of each deck are stunning! These pastels are just so much prettier and more vivid than the older basic colors. It s wonderful that Friends' sets are providing so many new choices of colors and parts for everyone to use. And what a great place to display it; woweee!

Flick: The Wire LEGO Parody by Yahoo!
Legogal replied to xtremegoogler's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Wow! This is so well done....complete with guns and drills pretending to be guns that fire with real explosions! The voice overs are really outstanding! I am not a fan of this show....it is too violent, but the Lego version is just delightful! So much minifig animation is really cool! -
Modular Madness: Tea house and bride's dress boutique
Legogal replied to Redhead1982's topic in LEGO Town
Red, Lovely mods! Way to go! My favorite feature in the bridal shop is the pink and white stairs....a very nice touch! And I love the roof design of the tea shop. Your interiors are first class as usual. Good luck with your entries! -
YIKES! This has to be a guy thing.....can't get past the subject matter to analyze your use of bricks. Sorry! (It looks as if those books will have to be best sellers without my two cents.) But then if you ask a woman who has read them, she might feel differently!

I really like your many owls! They are lovely birds with so many impressive abilities. And the perches on the walls are perfect. The different levels of the floor pieces are a nice touch, too. We often listen in our backyard to owls perched high in the trees, and it is quite entertaining. What special birds! They do deserve their own special home!

dd, Wow! These are fantastic representations of US presidents! I really love the lt flesh heads, and you have made some excellent choices of faces. (Yellow heads would look really weird here.) Can't believe how individualistic they are using such limited parts. Your torso choices are superb, too. The background flag without stars is another good choice with the number of stars changing so much and their being so small. Your idea to differentiate them by using earlier/later looks rather than just their presidential years is great because it allows us to recognize them much better. Can't wait to see the rest of them over time...

My Lego gals need more places to hang out...houses, apartments, townhouses, condominiums, beach houses, mountain cabins, tree houses, coffee shops, bookstores, museums, health clubs, botanical gardens, fascinating restaurants, art galleries, ..........
