Thanks for a wonderful review! The individual monuments/buildings look fine standing alone, but are too crowded on the plates supplied. I would add a couple more plates and spread out the monuments so that they were each visible and not lumped together. This should be easy to do, and allows you to focus on one element at a time rather than trying to separate one view into several monuments. I like the spread out look of the other city sets in this theme. This ones gives me a bit of claustrophobia like it is about to explode or something due to the lack of space and crowding as designed.

Wow! What an inviting build...so colorful with so much depth and so much to do. I want to go there....NOW! Way to go, Cara

I have looked at this several times and am even more amazed each time by all the detail inside and out. Hard to pick a favorite part of the build because all the details add us to such a warm holiday feeling. You definitely captured the spirit of the season with so much going on. The exterior textures are outstanding with an outstanding roof, walls and stone entrance along with many other features. The colors work very well and heighten the sense of holiday enjoyment. Not one area needs improvement or change. Way to go, Karen!

Ditto! Nice depiction of the many ranches that look like everything will collapse if not tended to, soon. Many US ranches look this way because the animals come first. And they take up a lot of time and energy. And provide income if a rancher is lucky and not in the middle of a 10 year drought, like the one I grew up in during the 50's. Many ranches in West Texas collapsed then due to lack of water for their stock. Our family ranch survived because it ran the auction house in San Angelo, and the family figured out how to breed some rare animals. While my father lost his share long ago, it is cool to see that ranch still in existence. The brick textures and details are lovely...as mentioned by others. Congrats on such a fine depiction of what can be a live or die existence on a Western ranch for tougher than leather ranching families. You must have been watching a lot of Western films because I didn't see anything resembling this in Finland!

Wow! The train station just blew me away with its very cool design....way to go! I like the classic simplicity of the exterior. It has just the right amount of details. The trains look wonderful inside the station. And what an honor to have it displayed for a year in Limoges. The basketball made me laugh being a resident of North Carolina where basketball is KING! And the porcelain is just lovely! Modern designs are my favorite when it comes to porcelain, silver flatware and crystal. You would have a blast walking through the museum in the gigantic china /silver/crystal store called Replacements, Inc., about 90 minutes from us in Greensboro, NC. Your design would fit perfectly with the thousands of patterns they carry. Congrats on three outstanding builds. That is a lot of brick put to very good use!

Displaying at events: How to get started?
Legogal replied to Exetrius's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
The local or area shows are the easiest to begin with because you travel a short distance and can stay at home overnight. And it is easier to move your displays locally than a long distance to a show. It also gives you a chance to meet more locals, who may become your AFOL friends over time. Once you see how a smaller show works, you will feel more confident displaying at a larger one. The main costs for the large LEGO conventions seem to be travel related; in the States there often is a long drive and maybe a flight or two required to make a national show. And the hotel nights and meals away can add up before you know it. Most registration fees are under $75. if you exhibit at a multiday event. You can start with small builds at a large convention, which is a great idea for novices and those who don't want to haul around a huge, fragile build that might collapse on our dreadful Interstate highways. After most large events, someone will post tons of photos, which can teach you a lot about the show before you attend. This will help you see what types of builds folks take to a particular show. And many of the large conventions have a different special theme each year, which can affect what folks build. Good luck putting your feet in the water....it can be a long slide into a wonderful hobby with many outstanding events. -
Wow! This looks great with the fine rounded shape of the tank. (My dad parked a similar tanker truck outside our home for many years and hauled drinking water to farms in West Texas. So this brings back a lot of memories. We six kids had to wash it our a couple of times a year, and it was dark and scary inside there as a little child.) Way to go!

Yup, living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room, stairwell, master bath, master bedroom, guest bedroom, LEGO Rooms 1 and 2, dining room, office, garage, second guest bedroom, third guest bedroom, utility room, laundry room, workshop and family room. Nothing hanging from our ceilings yet, so I guess that there is hope! (And none in attic or cars because it is too hot.)

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
Legogal replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is one of the strongest series of CMS in my opinion. These figs are well designed and offer something for everyone. Let's hope that they made enough to let those who want them get their fill. The rollout seems to be a mess and random in nature. I much prefer non licensed CMS to Disney, Simpsons, etc. -
What a lovely botanical garden modular! They definitely need to make a modular like this for the busy city builds. Everyone needs a chance to return to nature and appreciate its sights and smells and sounds....even in the big city. The design and details are first class. Congratulations!

A gym club could be a nice, large addition to Friends. Areas for workout machines, stretching, swimming, hot tub, stationery bikes, etc., would be great. Lots of females hang out at the gym, so a coffee shop would work well, too. And maybe a music school so the minidolls could take lessons and up their performance skills before touring on the Friends' bus.!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
Legogal replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The new uses for the smaller baby head are beyond hilarious. Got me thinking...so many figs would look outstanding with that head. Wish I had more than three of the babies! Maybe they will provide more babies soon so we can get some variety. Why has it taken so long for a baby fig to hit the scene? The Duplo ones are first class.... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
Legogal replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks! Thief, burglar, scoundrel in war playing games....no wonder I had no idea who that was! (Dungeons and Dragons was never my cup of tea.) But I had heard the word used to describe a scoundrel or thief before, which did not help me ID the fig at all BTW! He does have a nice dark green hood, which could look great on a gal with the appropriate outfit....so not a total waste. (I can hear you guys groaning again....) -

Duh....am I the only one on the planet who does not know what a "Rogue" is? Hmmmmm. (I have more than one, but was kind of wondering what he does.) -
I hope that these Lambos are self driving because the figs look like they are taking a nap or are dead. Great designs BTW!

We are tied up with a family reunion/memorial service in Austin and can't make it this year. Be prepared to bake as it has been hot this month on the East Coast...in the 90's with high humidity and lots of thunderbusters. Take an ice chest full of cold drinks because the hall can get hot, too. As a reminder, take your unwanted spares to trade or sell at the swap meets. It is a great way to depart with LEGO you no longer need and to pick up some items on your want list often at much lower prices than you will see on BL. Don't be surprised if big dealers with tables at BF buy a ton of your spares, especially minifig parts.

Great idea! Looking good so far. Are you building a Friends' City?
-
Holy Cow! Nice rocks, man! Looks like a barrel of fun, too! The running water is perfect, and the trees really frame it well. I am exhausted just looking at all the details....no wonder it took so long to build. Way to gooooooo!

Wow! This is very cool! Are y'all into horses? I have plenty of friends who are and would love a horse bust!
-
Wow! This is just lovely! The design of the building and the way it is placed in a city square surrounded by other buildings. The real cathedral has such a wacky, curvy design that it is hard to imagine how that can be created with mostly straight LEGO. And yet you have done it justice. With this many pieces, it would be too heavy for many of us to haul from the store to home. And could take forever to build. But it still is a marvelous MOC.

This parade is just precious! Your family did a mighty fine job showing what a parade with floats looks like on July Fourth. I can almost hear the marching band playing Souza! Sounds like they had a lot of fun working together on this. Way to go!

A very classy MOC! I love your colors and details. Glad to hear the original is still standing in Cincy. In the US there is a sad tendency to build with "short nails," which can mean that buildings have very short lives, especially out west. Leaving us with a bunch of falling down junk and eye sores. It is refreshing to visit a place with a significant number of well designed old buildings that are not falling down. Your MOC represents these kinds of buildings.

Nice truck! Great color scheme. Makes me want to play with it!
