Wow! This little beauty screams..."TAKE ME HOME!" And I will once it lands on our shore. Of course you will build it with the wheel on the right side....it's English! Reminds me of the one I drove around England in 1978 with my Mom screaming for her life as we came out of roundabouts not knowing which side of the road to drive on. It was a real driving adventure to say the least, but I even managed London on the left hand side of the street when I was not up on the sidewalk trying to figure out where to go. You learn quickly or you die! Several times a day we would stand next to the car and have a laughing attack because it was so tiny and so cute compared to the massive hearse-like Ford LTD's that Mom drove back home in Arizona. This one looks like a real winner to me, and the dark green is just lovely. Bring her on, blokes!

Congrats on the front page!!! I remember you choosing the right tree from Marco's assortment at EB2014. Those are some unbelievably nice trees; it looks perfect for this set. My favorites are the rounded edges on the exterior which nicely modernize it and all the wonderful details inside. A great rebuild with helpful photos. Way to go!

331026 Bike shop/cafe from the Raleigh LEGO store. Looks wonderful! And had lunch with Lego friends from Belgium. A great day so far! Enjoying looking at my EB 2014 Yellow Castle Redo, which was a hard build for me with so many parts added on each page of the instructions. But it looks great, and is my first castle set. Wonder what this would look like in Friends colors and inhabited by Friends? Hmmmmmmm...

Yup, I was thinking about throwing some coins in the fountains, too! It is a must have for us having been there and enjoyed the place so much. A lovely work of art in real life OMG and as a model as well. Congrats, Mr. Kobe! Thanks for the many etails and fine photos in the review.

Lovely model, especially the dome. Circular builds are just so tough that most of us won't even contemplate one. And a great sense of humour/or in the remarks! Question: How many baby pandas does it take to fill the hole in Royal Albert Hall? More than one I would think.

I met a guy from Mattel who bought some LEGO for play testing
Legogal replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
Well, all three Moshi Monsters are built. The most difficult was the red and black one because I could not see the black bricks clearly in the instructions, which are poor quality compared to what LEGO usually provides. So it took a while to figure it out. Fortunately there are not 800 pieces, or this would take all night. There were a lot of bricks with major boo boos on the sides....lines, humps, indentations, etc. Not a pretty sight. And it was hard putting many of the bricks together. They tend not to fit as well as LEGO. Also the colors do not appear as uniform and solid as with LEGO bricks; it has more of a transparency than LEGO bricks. And the other major difference between Mega Bloks and LEGO is that the MB cost about half as much or even less than half of the price for LEGO. The designs were cute and do merit building again in LEGO. They remind me a bit of the furry bunny introduced by Creator a few months ago. And of Totoro, the delightful Japanese animated film star. I still have the stickers for use on LEGO versions if I decide to apply them. This wraps up my mini-review of the Mega Bloks Moshi Monsters.- 22 replies

I met a guy from Mattel who bought some LEGO for play testing
Legogal replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
I just checked on eBay, and it looks like Moshi Monsters is/was an entire theme. Really cute builds, too. If I like the three monsters above, I may try finding plans for and building some of the other sets with LEGO, which is the only kind of bricks I own besides these three little kits which say Belgium on the boxes and have piece counts listed on the boxes of 70 to 77 parts each.- 22 replies

I, too, decided to do a little market research today. Picked up three MegaBlocks Moshi Monsters sets at Tuesday Morning for a total of less than 10US. The look adorable and have stickers that I can put on LEGO models of these little creatures once I find the LEGO parts in similar shapes. They are 80651 (Katsuma), 80652 (Poppet), and 80653 (Diavlo.) Will see what I can do with LEGO and their instructions. Anyone familiar with the Moshis? Was it a cartoon show? Wish LEGO had something like these.- 22 replies

Holy Bananas is right on! The colors are just perfect, especially in the landscaping. The trees are magnificent with so little green....who wudda thunk.......nongreen trees are something else! This looks better than most of the real castles I have visited in Europe. (Of course it is sooooo old that some dust is quite appropriate. Aren't all castles dusty by definition?) The scale is breathtaking with the two parts together. Congratulations!

Serious question about Lego flowers
Legogal replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is a very, very serious topic! That said, I use them both ways to vary the looks of flowers because let's face it, LEGO flowers were extremely dull looking until our Friends appeared. And I never like to mix flower colors being a purist in my real garden, too, which has about 90 percent white flowers because they show up best in low light. The ones that are not white usually began as white and mutated over time OR hubby pulled a very dumb move and planted nonwhite flowers in my garden. My mind gets agitated if a garden has too many colors of flowers. Hmmmm...could this be a test for some weird mental disease?!!! -
Eurobricks Event 2014 - Information Topic
Legogal replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Has anyone noticed a too high charge on their credit card for the lunch and Lego House kits at Restaurant Billund across from the Lego House? Just checked my statement and they charged 361.US for ten of the Lego House sets (should be about 27US each leaving a whopping 91.12US charge for that light lunch, which I was expecting to pay about 25US for. So it looks like the charge is more than 60US than it should be if you figure 270. for the sets and 25. for lunch. Did anyone else notice a charge for lunch that was too high? It was a nice lunch, but not a 90US lunch. Thanks for checking! -
It really disturbs me to walk into a chain like TRU or WM and see clone brands right inside the LEGO display area! Sometimes I throw all the non-LEGO boxes down on lower shelves outside the LEGO area and smile. When non-LEGO are mixed right in with the LEGO, it is harder for parents to choose the good stuff. And I consider the other stuff an eyesore. I am glad that TLG has some competition, but I hope that the competitions' products remain crappy and not a threat to LEGO quality-wise. There will always be a huge market for cheap plastic disposable junk toys in the US. That is not the LEGO market.

One thing that may affect the resellers (as well as the rest of us who only collect as a hobby) is that at some point, everyone runs out of space to store LEGO. That means you either have to sell, trade or give away LEGO before you can buy anymore (UNLESS you want to buy or rent more space...a no no for most of us.) I am praying that the greedy resellers reach this point soon and that most of them drop out of the selling market. For most of us with decent jobs, it makes little sense to hold an expensive inventory and do all the labor required to resell it. We can make far more doing our day jobs and extra work we might pick up on the side. If you are retired and have the extra capital, it might make sense, but reselling still eats up your valuable time. And your time is valuable regardless of what you may think. I am not against all resellers, just those who ramp up the prices beyond belief. There are sets I've had to pay a bit more for from resellers, but I won't not pay more than double the original price unless the set is exceptional in my book. I see no reason to collect every set in a theme because this means that you will be held hostage by resellers at some point. I do resent resellers buying up every copy of every set marked down in the store because that strikes me as just being greedy. it would be great if store limits worked, but there does not seem to be a surefire way.

PJ, That was an amazing find for sure! After running into a CC and GG at that price, I seriously doubt anyone would show up for work that day. Way to go!

Yeah, the staff and customers look pretty iffy to me. And those are some hellaciously huge burritos! Love your build! In NC we often do Taco Tuesday at Qdoba, where it costs 4US for four tacos if you buy soft drinks for a total of less than 8US. When we are feeling really cheap, we get four tacos at Taco Bell and two free senior drinks for a total of 5US. So Taco Tuesday is fine with us!

Wow! Wonderful photos, Fangy! Hmmm, Your castle looks a lot better than mine, but following pictorial directions written for ages over four years has never been my strong point. (Maybe that is why I so love Duplo!) B, do you have a good secret hiding place to sequester your yellow castle parts until you know who's is built? Sounds like it is time to call in your own personal Viking squad to protect your village from a raid. Good luck. (I am on standby with tons of unused, new yellow parts in case you get in a jam. And hundreds of unemployed, shiftless knights, trolls, cowboys, aliens, and other meanies in case it is time to call in the heavy guns.) On a separate note, it is fortunate that weeee pitiful sorters don't worth in a LEGO factory as the company would have gone under for sure in its first year of existence. LOL

MOC: Cologne Cathedral - Architecture for Eurobricks Event 2014
Legogal replied to Aredhel's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow, nice history of a great build! (The only thing that old in America that comes to mind is the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde in Colorado. And they are not free standing.) One question. Did you say it is located 250 meters beneath as in under the Rhine or 250 meters distance from the Rhine? Flooding must be a threat in either case. Thanks!- 9 replies

Serious question about Lego flowers
Legogal replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Laughing out very loud! Just a personal observation. (From a quick look at comments, whether the studs are up or down on flowers appears to be an issue that primarily attracts the attention of males. Maybe females are too involved with other "serious" questions?!!! ) Anyway my vote is with the use them in both directions school to add depth and variety to the flora. (We badly need other flower designs a la P---Mobil. Check out their roses, lilies, ivy, etc. Exquisite. And their older gardening sets are exquisite, too.) -
Nice balconies and outside porches...is this a passive solar home? Will there be solar panels on the roof? Your landscaping choices as to bushes, trees, ground cover, etc., will make a huge difference once this is built. This looks wonderful so far! Congratulations!

Wow! That hull is quite impressive. This will weigh a ton finished. Looks great so far!

I agree about BLing these monthly builds. They are wonderful little creations and fun to build, but not worth more than 5usd each. So BL them, and make a few extra for trading while you are at it. It makes me sad to see how much some folks ask for these little sets. The flamingo is my favorite because it was Mom's favorite animal and was introduced about the same time as her first birthday after she passed. So it is next to my kitchen sink, and I talk with Mom every morning when I see her flamingo. I do wish that LEGO would sell these kits a month or two after the monthly build so that folks without access to them could buy a set or two. They are perfect for polybags and would add a lot of variety to the current offerings.
