I don't know why, but I really like the tiled look to the man-made portions of this, and the plated 'rough' look to the dirt pathway

So, I started a castle/keep on a 64x80 base way back in late August before my wife had her medical issues. I think that it is finally about done. I just have to put in the figs and some daily life items and it will be posted. Plus I just got 5 Mirkwood Elves to help arm the keep. It is located in the heart of the Withered Woods, and the actions in the build will have major implications on the life of my sigfig..... P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!

I went back to my TRU today and they had about 100 of the Mirkwood Elf Polybag out! I only bought 5 so my wife won't leave me, but no Hobbit sets....

I went to my local TRU in Kalamazoo, MI and they had no polybags and no Hobbit sets...what a wasted trip! I'll try again tomorrow though!

I am very pumped for that Polybag. Finally one that has nice parts and can be an army builder....plus I am a fan of elves

The funny thing is, I don't even think of you as a pirate builder....just medieval. Of course, I was not around for your pirate days..... I hate that you made me look at that gatehouse again. Every time I see it, I want to build one!

Yes, TBB is The Brothers Brick and one of his MOC's is about 3 stories down on the front page right now. I didn't realized the rest of you were that new as well. When I think of the great castle builders they are pretty much all in GoH, and I just assumed you had all been active forever! I haven't even hit my 2 year mark of collecting/building out of my 15 year dark age, and most of my building is also within GoH. I actually jumped into CCCIX last year to get me started then joined here on January 1st!

Wow, what I find astonishing is that both MikeyB and NiceMarmot had never built MOC's or posted before GoH. When I look at your creations, you guys look like seasoned pros!

Great build Z! There are a ton of great details and techniques throughout here. I also really like all of the different mythologies(movies) that you referenced throughout. I got: LOTR, Willow, Harry Potter, Sword in the Stone....there's more I'm missing I'll bet

Very cool Eryn! The mountainside, the dilapidated bridge....all excellent. The minifigures activity, placement and diversity really add to this too. Mikel and you have really come out strong for Kaliphlin again! Not sure if it will make a difference, but your tag reads Kaliphlin Challenge IV, but this is Challenge V
