  1. I'm Kaliphlin and use a both bleys for my buildings, just tan-nish for my environments. We'd love to have you, but of course as this is for fun, go where you are comfortable
  2. I'm totally in for Challenge 6, just need more time! I have one build done, one 50% done and one about 10% done. Story is at about 30% complete on paper, but done in my head if that counts! I can't wait to see what we turn out as a guild, so we can get back to #1
  3. Glad to have you on EB Edwyn! Now get over to Historica and join a guild!
  4. Very cool to see pictures and read about how everyone sorts, plus to see how big and small collections are. To see that some of you have 'small' collections(like 10,000 is small!) but compare that to the cool builds that you have produced is fun. I have about 30,000 bricks which my wife says is plenty. I disagree, but I think the fact that my bins are in our bedroom hurts my cause! I use the sterilite 3-5 drawer bins stacked on each other and I have 6 of them. In there I have bricks sorted by color, except for Black, Light Bley and Dark Bley which I have sorted by slopes, plates 4x4 and larger, plates smaller than that, and bricks and each of those by color. Then I have 2 30 drawer units that are designed for nails/screw, etc that I use for smaller parts such as tiles, 1x1 rounds, greeble type pieces, etc and sorted by color there. So far it works great for me and I do still have room to grow the collection a bit before I need more containers.
  5. I felt like I was watching the old Batman show with Adam West. The angled camera shots are very reminiscent of the classic "POW" scenes. In a good way
  6. Great build Mikel! There is a lot of great things in here, but my favorite has to be the transition from the bley rock to tan and dark tan. I tried to do that once and failed utterly! Now, I see how it is done properly!
  7. Nice MOC! I agree with SC, a little bit more plates just to break up some of the flat earth and add some elevation would add a bit of depth to it, but overall it's really nice
  8. Looks great! I love seeing the prelude builds everyone is providing and the accompanying stories!
  9. That's a tough call...I'm going through the same thing. I have the first build wrapped up, just need to photograph it. I have the second build about 50% done. I am thinking that I will do it all in one big reveal and not even upload them to Flickr for a while yet
  10. Nice build here Mikel! I love castle ruins, and this one is large to boot
  11. I have received the missive from Queenscross, and I will send an elite member of The Nahtämatu soon to help with your mission. (I will post a pic soon!)
  12. Is anyone not killing off their character? It's getting a little depressing here as a GoH hero. I feel like a retiree who is seeing all of his friends die and wonders when do I go? In all seriousness though, I did like that character....you must be reading George R.R. Martin and his penchant for killing off great characters!
  13. A sad day indeed. As Kha and Saladus are currently on a mission of blood vengeance, we will certainly be sure to deliver extra death for this
  14. Wow, I need to venture out of History forums more! This is beautiful and well inspired!
  15. Interesting topic....I usually use baseplates for my builds. In my last MOC the Tower of the Hand, I used 4 32x32 baseplates, but then put a layer of bricks around the edges and interior enough to put plates on top of it to get the color I want for the underlayer. When I do that, I usually put black slopes around the edges just to have a bit of a uniformity in presentation for the base. With the last MOC, the one brick plus a plate on top helped a lot to be able to do a gradient layer for the trans dark blue tiles I used for the water as well. I have thought in the past that maybe me laying baseplates and then putting plates over it is a waste, but the baseplates hooked together with a layer a brick higher seems to be pretty sturdy for moving the build around to photograph it, and so I just keep doing it!
  16. Sounds like a nice haul! I have run into that with BL sellers too....I just give up and go somewhere else. I figure they just won't get much income, if that's how they run their business. I happened to be grocery shopping at Wally world today and found the Rattlecopter at 50% off clearance. I picked it up, because clearance legos are like crack....Not sure what I'll do with all of the lime green, but still some nice pieces in there like the Lt. Bley 1x1 Round tiles and 2x2 Round tiles, brackets, etc
  17. I was just joking...it's totally fine!
  18. Yes, I totally want that script! PBD is my favorite Bricklink store as well. It seems that they always have what I want at a good price and in large quantities!
  19. Beautiful MOC! I'm not sure why, but the way the the home is built into the landscape I keep waiting for Uncle Owen to come out yelling for Luke
  20. I agree with these guys, SoT your builds are actually some of the first I saw as I was coming out of a long Dark Age. The detail and story in them is what drew me back into the hobby after so many years. Hopefully this hiatus won't be too long, but hopefully on your return you can see some of the growth in all of us newer Castle builders and now that you helped to shape us!
  21. Like rogueang said its pretty much up to you. Most use Yellow, Derfel Cadarn is currently using fleshies in his series, and I use Yellows for humans and Fleshies for elves....its all about what you like or what you have most of!
  22. I'm not sure I like that you named the bad guy Kayne....I mean Kain.
  23. The castle seems fairly generic, but that is ok to buy for MOC'ing. I really like the lion/crown mix on the blue faction a lot! The barding for the new horses is great, and the armor for the knights is a must! Definitely excited for these to come out!
  24. I agree with DG, it reminds me of the scene from Fellowship of the RIng...you even put Frodo's shirt on him! Nice build by the way!
  25. Absolutely marvelous! I really like the idea of a history that isn't too far back. I am definitely intrigued here
