Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread
Kayne replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks Kabel, that clears it up for me! I wasn't offended at all, just confused as to what you were referring to. But, now that you pointed out those things I totally know what you're referring to! I do think that Kaliphlin and Nocturnus have the most potential to stray from the norm just based on the climates and stereotypes based off of each of the guilds. The middle eastern/persian setting of Kaliphlin invokes many images in my head of a different sort of culture than medieval europe. Likewise, Nocturnus is pure fantasy and trying to fit that into an earth based timeline seems very hard. Whereas Avalonia reminds me of Arthurian England and Mitgardia of Norse civilizations which both fit well into medieval europes landscape. Hope that clears up why I was curious what you were getting at :) -
Wow, looking good so far! I was planning out a build to span 9 32x32's and thought that was huge. The 48x48 will dwarf that!

yeah *******edit******** Sorry....not sure what the yeah is for....I walked away from the computer to make breakfast for the kids and my 7 year old decided that he wanted to post something. Not sure what he even read that he was saying yeah to!

I like this a lot! Great presentation and color scheme. As for the comments on the dragon, I think the build itself has a lot of character. But, the pose may be what stands out to me. It looks like it has some articulation to it, and if so if you curled the legs up it might look more natural in flight. With the legs hanging straight down, it just seems a little akward. But, that doesn't take away from build quality at all.

I guess I don't get where you're going here. I know I didn't start until the 2nd challenge here, but it seemed like magic was already in GoH, plus Victor is a mage and he's 'official'. I also don't get how Kaliphlin has strayed from that time frame either. -

I guess when I was posting my thoughts, I was going more for a fantasy type setting that just happens to have a couple of advancements. Gunpowder was just a thought, doesn't need to be. But I was not thinking about Pirate theme or changing the medieval feel we have to GoH. I just thought that maybe by changing up a few things we might be able to rekindle interest in new builders and get GoH rolling hot and heavy again. I'm in no matter what though, this is too much fun! -

Just crazy exhausted talk....but, what if we re-invented GoH after the Revolword saga. Placed it one hundred years later. We could have certain major political, geographical and techonlogical(not space, but maybe limited gunpowder) advancements that have altered the landscape and lifestyle in Historica. New characters, new towns, etc...but still our Historica as the foundation and history of the world. -
Funny that the IT manager has a double post! That's me.....sort of :) Actually, I manage a big box Home Improvement store, so no suspenders

I really like Kanye West, but I don't know how to spell and ended up with Kayne...... just kidding. I actually have been working on a Fantasy novel for a few years and that is the name of my protagonist. But my first explanation seems funnier

Go with Black, it'll match the roof of the blacksmith shop.

Good pick up Robuko! I was in Detroit for work today(about 3 hours away), and I stopped at the Lego Store. Pretty good selection in the PaB wall today-1x3 Light Bley bricks, Light Bley 2x2x1 slopes and 2x2x2 slopes, 2x2 Dark Tan tiles, 1x4 Reddish Brown tiles, etc....I loaded up! Alos, finally got some of the knights from Series 9 CMF. -

Hmmm....I missed out on the exoforce stuff while I was in my dark ages, but that theme was awesome in my opinion. Perhaps someday I will have to help you unload it As far as the direction of GoH, I think we definitely need to add some sort of structure going forward similar to the structure that led to this point. It was loose enough to be creative, but there was always something going on globally that affected each guild. I am not sure who would head that up, but it was nice to have some over-arcing storyline that we could all relate to. -
Great build dG, but the real stunner is the minifig choice, posing and expressions. They really add a lot of drama to the scene

I would totally jump on that. If not for this, then something else.....those are not easy to find -
I know it's not totally accurate, but it still looks pretty good!

I sure hope so! One of my builds is a micro build. When I read through the rules it basically seemed as though we could build whatever we want as long as it fit the couple of requirements that they cannot exceed the stud count base of 48x48 or equivalent, and one must be an interior build. Beyond that, we seem to have a ton of creative license to do as we please. -
Awesome...what more could I add?

Awesome again Ecc! Your style is so recognizable, I absolutely love it!

Very nice builds! You can certainly fit into any of our guilds, and your building style is already very good! Of course, if you were to join Kaliphlin you explore every type of terrain in Historica since they are all represented here

I don't have Blackbeard, so I had to use the outfit from the evil bald guy from PoP....can't remember his name. I also have no black wizards hat, so I used Dooku hair. Artistic license -

@SK: Yes, she is much better, thank you! Still has some pain as her neck heals, but no more loss of motion or feeling in any limbs. Her mood is also much improved, obviously since she is feeling better. -

Time shouldn't be an issue for me either, because I do build fairly quickly. But, I work a 60 hour job with 10 hours of commute and I have 4 kids, with most of them in sports(the 3 year old is still not in one!) That eats up a bunch of my time. I am working on a solution for sleep, I figure if I can eliminate the need to sleep I will be good to go! -

@Legonardo: Good luck finding that! I have a pesky 3 year old that seems to find my best figs and they trun up missing, but at least I know that they are still in my house so I usually find them within a day. I would be furious if I even suspected someone ripped them off from me. Hopefully you find Davy Jones soon....as for the build, not much to do to help there. If it was on par with your build 1, then GoH is probably missing another masterpiece now....
