Welcome Sebeus! The addition of your skills should ensure a Kaliphlin victory! Glad to have you in GoH! -
Very cool, I'm definitely looking forward to the gatehouse!

Yeah, I noticed the sword after posting the pics....oh well, even Lord Sensael is rushed at times

I like your pic Ecc...reminds of me Spaceballs if you have ever seen the movie. "What part is this?" "This is now, we are watching right now". The pic on the computer screen is the same as the pic you posted, like an endless loop staring further into the screen! -
Thanks Z! The crane was inspired by a builder of some reknown....I believe his name is ZCerberus Yeah, Saladus and Lord Sensael may be a bit too confident in their ability to take down the elemental.

Awesome entry Ecc! Especially knowing it was a one day build. It definitely fits with your entire Ondylion build styles

My entry for challenge 4 is posted now...here is a sneak peak My entry We had a special visitor to the town at the time of the attack as well. Sorry to anyone else, but he was the only sigfig I had all the parts to make! -
This is my entry to Challenge 4 for Kaliphlin Guild. A Water Elemental has appeared in the waters just off one of the docks in the Kaliphlin city of Starbowl. Look who was visiting at the time... The elemental from the front A good shot of the destruction on the docks as the elemental shoots forth a wave to destroy it Probably my favorite shot of the microscale background...down the coastline and out to sea, we can see an island fortress and a ship at sea Fish's eye view Definitely a fun challenge to partake in here on GoH. Not the sort of thing that I typically do, so trying to incorporate all of the different elements was challenging. The microscale background is the first that I have ever done, so hopefull it stands up to everyone else's. I tried to keep it small(no pun intended) on purpose in the thought that it should not constitute it's own MOC. Also, I trimmed in and rounded the edges of the base to save some tuds, so I ended up using all 196 studs I saved for the Microscale area attached to the side of the MOC. The Water Elemental itself was very fun to build, in that I did more things I have never done before. The curved jets of water coming out of his shoulders and where he emerges from the water is new for me. I also don't typically use too many trans pieces, but they worked great for this guy. C&C Welcome! Also, here is the link to the Flickr Set I noticed after posting that many of the pics with the palm trees, etc. didn't make this cut

That sounds typical of us earthlings -
Looking very cool, I think the 64 x 64 size is a great size for a MOC of this nature, and the start you have looks good. I keep thinking I'm going to start a 64x64 Castle/Keep for my sigfig.....but then a new challenge is announced and I get totally focused on that and the baseplates just sit there. I really need to get motivated...this just might motivate me!

I am not totally sure what dubstep is....but I've been a Heavy Metal and bass fan for years, so bands like Korn appeal to me. Their newest album that came out last December has a bunch of collaborations with Skrillex and some other DJ's/groups that are supposedly dubstep or brostep style producers. You should check that out if you get a chance. Narcissistic Cannibal is probably the best example from that album if you check it out on Youtube -

Ahh...Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. Those were great games for sure! I actually just finished reading all 17 R.A. Salvatore books in a row. Not sure if you have ever read those, but he is the creator of the Underdark and the Drow world in Forgotten Realms. They are great books, and give a ton of insight to the Drow culture as well as many other parts of Forgotten Realms. I would be hesitant to recommend since I think they are only available in English, but based on my interactions with you here on GoH, I think your English is plenty good enough to read English novels. Honestly, if you didn't mention you were Croation, I would have thought English was your first language. -

I agree that the amount of dropoff is a bit disappointing, but I agree that even if only 10 people were active, I'd still be having a blast. This is the best part of EB(I'm biased obviously!). As a fairly new AFOL, I did not even know about EB until I joined before Challenge 2. Now, this is the sight I spend the majority of my time at, rather than most of the others. Dr. Rod: Yes, I counted you and that build as active! Angeli: If 3m is the cutoff, I believe you and DC may be the only active members Ska: I only went back to June 1st, because I was getting tired of reading everything over, and my eyes were getting dizzy going through all 4 guilds! When I did that quick count the other day, my only aim was to see if Kaliphlin had as many active members as the other guilds, since we had so many to begin with, but seemed to have dropped off. After doing the counts, I was shocked at how low Nocturnus was. But that made me think how amazing those few over there are doing on their builds to still garner as many points as they do.....of course when you look at the builds of those builders, it should be no surprise, they have some great builders! -

So, as I am finishing up challenge 4 and thinking ahead to some other builds that I want to attempt. In one of those I wanted to have some cameo appearances by some of the other characters in Kaliphlin. So, I did a little research on our members, and at one point we had 42 members listed in Kaliphlin)that doesn't even include some of our new additions like Axis!). Of those and including the newer members that are active, we currently have 16 that have posted or been active in GoH within the last couple of months(and that includes SI-Mocs). I haven't counted through the other guilds yet, but that seems way low to me for our numbers. But, despite the now low number of core members in Kaliphlin, we closed the gap after Challenge 3 in an attempt to take the lead. I guess, that entire paragraph was just a bunch of useless facts, but I wanted to say nice job to my guildmates for the concerted effort you have all put forth in bringing out qulatiy builds and taking part in the challenges when you can. We may be one of the smaller guilds in terms of number now, but a powerhouse in talent! Proud to be Kaliphlin! ****EDIT***** So I went through the other guilds as well, and from June 1 until now, it looks like these are the number of active folks in each guild: Avalonia: 27 Kaliphlin: 16 Mitgardia: 14 Nocturnus: 8 -
Looks great soccerkid! I wondered who would be the first to post...I think that the microscale backdrop that you used fits nicely into the scene...probably my favorite part!

Now that is thinking outside the box! A ship will definitely fit in the 48x48, and the originality of it compared to other entries should earn you a top spot! Not to mention the fact that your builds are superb to begin with -
Awesome build, I love MOC's with different detailing of water and its many different aspects. This one here captures the movement well, and the fig looks great. Is that a custom cape?

Yeah, it fits into the requirements....barely! I made it in a shape that is not quite square. It is 48 studs wide and 48 studs deep at its x and y axis, but it rounds on the edges saving me a few studs. I plan to use those gained studs to incorporate the microscale on the horizon. I may have overthought the process, but I was doing some math to make sure that I fit within the constraints of the challenge. The lighthouse is obviously inspired by DC, and there will be some other points of inpiration from some of the other great builders around here as well. It's amazing what one learns in just a few short months here. That is what makes GoH so amazing to me, the ability to force us out of our comfort zones, while at the same time presenting us with great inspiration and lessons in building. -

Actually, I think Shelob's face works better than expected. Plus the articulation of the creature adds a lot in my opinon. Not sure what the scene witll look like, but with the different colors on the elemental it might look cool to have some small foliage on the brown arms. Almost, like he literally just rose out of the ground. -
One way to break up the roof is just to add in a couple of different colored slopes. Dark Bley and Tan work great for that. Not too many, but just a couple scattered in there. And on the sides, where it is solid brick instead of slopes could look nice with the log bricks built up there. Looking good though. You are knocking out builds pretty quickly...I feel like I'm slacking when you guys keep posting new builds and I haven't in a while!

The direction of the shot for the forced perspective will actually come from the side that has the rocks and the crane. The microscale will be looking along the coastline and slightly out to see. I have the connection set up for that, just haven't added that piece in. It's hard to tell from my phone's weak camera, but there are docks along the coast that are torn up and destroyed, and there will still be a giant wave/explosion shooting pieces into the air there. -
Great build Dr. Rod! Like ZC said, the two shades of grey look great together in this. Somehow I missed your embassy back during that challenge, I loved seeing that as well. That roof technique looks very cool!

Just a quick upload from my phone...not the best quality, but this is what I am working of for challenge 4. The tower is going to be a lighthouse in the harbor. There will be buildings and a city street scene on the top platform. And in the water is the Water Elemental that will be attacking the city. This view is from behind, but hopefully you can see that he is coming out of the water with waves and jets of water around him. Any C&C welcome to help out! -
gabe, your builds continue to lead the way in Kaliphlin superiority! The details inside really add a ton to this one. I did not expect Friends to look so good in armor! Excited to see what you'll cook up for Challenge 4!
