Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Kayne replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm in with the others...I don't want Dextrus removed from office, as I have liked the way the guild was running. But a vice leader is a very good idea. We have a lot of worthy folks, and I am good with any of them taking on some additional responsibilities! -
I love this! It's a poignant scene, with great details....and like others have said, the dragon is great

Sadly my Kmart has the Uruk-Hai at $25, and I even brought it up front to check, but still $25. I think I'm going to check each week now though, since there have been sightings! -
Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread

I would be very excited for this....in fact I had been considering defecting to nocturnus anyway. Not because I don't love kaliphlin, but I wanted to help balance the number of builders. I'm in! -

I got my new camera today! I've been living on a 7 year old Kodak Easy Share for my entire AFOL life of 2 years...I can't afford a really nice DSLR right now(unless I give up totally on buying Lego), so after doing some research I got a 16 MP Bridge camera with 15x Optical Zoom for a good deal. It's a GE PowerPro X500. This should be a huge improvement over what I have been taking pics with. I have a build going that I hope to wrap up soon so I can test it out! -
I do believe that I like that! Great job, I can't believe how quickly you added some changes!

I'm not really sure.....I wonder if having the stone walls blend into the mountain might work. We always hear about the great dwarven craftsmanship, so I'm sure they could do it. The problem would be translating it into Lego! Don't get me wrong, the roof doesn't look bad, it just seems like something else might be better. What if the mountain came out with a ledge over the top of the fortress, so that they could fit together to look as if the fortress were carved right into the mountain?

Tough to win in 5 now....I thought it would go the same way though, even though I am a Wings fan.

Very cool idea!

Awesome! Very original to use the lever bottoms for the crenellations of the wall. I have not seen that before, and I love to see new ideas!
-
Very cool SK! I agree with Beery though, that the roof doesn't feel quite natural with blend into the mountains, so it might be worth playing around with another transition at the top.

Very cool story....nice to see a Kaliphlin build without sand!
-
Interesting profile....but now that I have seen a few of these I am wondering what BLG is? I haven't seen that explained yet

Another great build here! You have been turning out some really great stuff!
-
Great build and story! I am so glad you joined Nocturnus! They have some great core builders, but not enough people there. With the addition of you to the group, it is feeling like a powerful group again

I voted, but I won't tell what my answer was

Ska, I would be totally interested in this. How big do you think the builds would be? -

I was at work all day, but I updated my Android app while there and when I loaded it was slow. I thought it was just the app that was slower, but I'll try the site now that I'm home -
Welcome to the Kaliphlin, hopefully you will enjoy our southern hospitality and charm!

Way off topic here, but Legonardo I must say that while I've noticed some really nice builds coming out of you.....seeing them lined up in your sig really made me see how great they've been lately! -

Yup, now that I reread the intro I totally remember reading that for the first time! -

My thoughts are to maintain the dark bley for the rockwork, but it appears to have a mosaic effect with some diamond shapes(slopes) to the left and right of the main hall. That is what I would make Light Bley. I will put a note around it on your Flickr so you can see what I mean. -

Well, I'm assuming that you are going to join Kaliphlin(which is the proper choice, by the way), and in that case definitely post his introduction and picture here to let us get to know you/him. But for a freebuild, the guild can earn some bonus points, and in that case you will want to post a new thread in the forums for that build to count as a freebuild. Also, welcome to GoH! -

Nice intro Str0ngbad! As for the WIP's, my personal preference leads me to favor the grey one. If I were you and if I had the pieces, I would go with the Dark Bley one on bottom, but put in some Light Bley for sides where you have the diamond mosaic look.
